I LOVE this place, it's a small spot in the middle of a lot of great breweries and next door to a delightful coffee shop that's also always a must stop. Staff is always really nice and helpful. They have an amazing selection of cheeses, bread, and usually have a grab and go charcuterie which is fantastic if you've been drinking beer all day and need a nibble. There is a lot to like about this cozy and inviting cheese shop. I saw the ad on the Highway and knew I was going to need to check it out because I absolutely love cheese The owners were friendly and helpful. They offer a range of local cheeses to slice, wedges, and pre boxed platters of different sizes. We mixed up our choices with a small box and a few other dips. There homemade pimento type cheese with peppers was a star! Yum! I also enjoyed the olive spread I picked up- salty and sooooooo good. The parking is a little difficult to find because that area is really busy. The shop is also really tight and small. If you have a Covid fear of being in tight spaces with mask free people then consider yourself warned. If I lived here, I would certainly be a regular. Check it out! read more

I am so glad this new cheese shop opened in Asheville. The store is not big but they pack a huge selection of cheeses, accoutrements, like jams, nuts, honey and crackers and also wine. They are knowledgeable about the cheese, generous with the tastings, and super friendly. They also said they could special order cheeses, which is a great thing. I bought: Comté, Fourme d'Ambert, a french semi hard blue. A ball of Siano buffalo mozzarella, (made in Charlotte) Vento d'Estate, a sharp cow's milk cheese, aged in oak barrels under a blanket of hay. Large selection of accoutrements to make the perfect cheese plate for your family or friends. They have some pre-made charcuterie ready for entertaining. They obviously support local and have a lot of local products. They were very kind and generous offering samples and information. A couple came in while we were there that are totally inexperienced with making cheese plates. The owner helped with suggestions and samples and as we were leaving, they were putting things together and getting an idea of what they were going to do. Yummy!!!! We stopped in after our visit to the Spa House, which is just around the corner. The place was very clean and packed with cheeses, wines, and thjngs to go with cheese. There were also charcuterie boxes for sale. The staff was friendly and offered to help us with samples of cheese. My husband was taken in by their selection of orphaned cheeses, and we purchased several. The chocolate lab was my favorite! I am hoping I can find it here at home because it was amazing! read more

Wow! What an incredible find in downtown Asheville! Stopped here for a quick snack to tide us over before a later dinner and might have been one of the highlights of our trip! The small interior is stocked full of cheeses, meats, wine selection, and assorted honeys, oils, crackers, and everything you'd need to make an incredible charcuterie board or even for a housewarming or hostess gift! We got the wine flight and cheese pairing for $25 per person, and the portions were decently sized for the price and there were 4 great wines to pair with each of the 4 cheeses. Sometimes it's tricky to find amazing cheeses so I'd heard about South Slope so I stopped in one Covid afternoon. Everyone was distanced and masked in the tiny shop. The shop is a treasure trove! They have some very unique and eclectic cheeses. I actually bought a couple bottles of wine too, not planned, because they had some wonderful unusual wines and most were organic. My best friend was staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn to celebrate her 40th birthday. They helped me pick out 3 great bottles so my bestie could toast it up to celebrate. We came in after our early morning stroll seeking some local cheese and wine for our afternoon snacks. Kurt took us to their well stocked selection of local wines. It being summer, we asked for a good wine, bordering on an Albariño. He immediately handed us a local bottle of Biltmore grown white and another white close to a sauvignon blanc grown locally from imported grapes. We topped it off with a local cheese aged over 8 months in a local cave. Let's just say we can't wait for our afternoon snack! We talked about how last year in August we travelled through Portugal and stopped at Taylor Fladgate in Porto to sample red and white port. If you are in the Asheville area don't miss this shop. We were recommended a bottle of Lavilella Alta by black slate 2017. It ranks a 4.2 on Vivino and is in the top 2% of all wines in the world. It was only$22.99. She was wearing a face shield instead, which -- two years into this pandemic -- we know is next to worthless for protecting others when used alone. Equally frustrating, it is against county mandate, and the space is so tiny that it's especially problematic. They were even able to accommodate the vegetarians in our group with a fig "salami" in place of the traditional cold cuts.
