We initially received quotes from three window companies for our whole house window replacement project. The original windows and patio slider were 1974 single pane aluminum frames. Since they had exterior trim and stained interior trim and we were concerned about how the new windows would be installed, how they would look, and how well they would be sealed. So I had lots of questions during the interviewing process. South Valley windows stood out from the others in several ways. First and foremost was their very experienced product knowledge and their thoroughness answering my many questions about the installation details. Second was their very competitive pricing. Joe was completely confident in the high quality of the Milgard Tuscany product line and we felt reassured that South Valley Windows would do a great job. They delivered exactly as promised. Their timing was right on schedule, and the installation team of Mike (this guy is a dynamo) and Jacob did a fantastic job. No detail got overlooked, they worked efficiently and we were surprised with how quickly and cleanly the entire job went. A total of 12 windows and an 8' wide patio door were done in about 1-1/2 days. There was no disruption to the window trim although the patio door did require new interior trim, which came out excellent, and the finished product looks beautiful. The job looks perfect and we couldn't be happier. South Valley Windows are an excellent and competent company to deal with and we had an absolutely great experience. If I could give them a TEN I would. I had a sliding glass door to my outdoor patio that needed a team of muscle men to open it. I had no previous contact with any window companies in Morgan Hill/Gilroy but selected SOUTH VALLEY WINDOWS from their ad in the phone book. When I told the person who answered the phone my problem with the door he was very helpful and said he'd come out and take a look. Not only did he take a look, he spent over an hour trying to get the glass panel out of the channel it rides in. The big surprise was when he was leaving with hopefully some idea of the part I needed and he tells me " DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE TIME I JUST SPENT, I'M NOT CHARGING YOU!" That was quite a nice surprise. He ended up coming back and completely taking the door out of the frame and the rollers out of their channel and taking pictures of them so he could match the parts since the door was over 16 years old. This was also a call he did not charge me for. The next day 2 big muscle men arrived and took the entire door out of the frame with both panels of glass. Mr. Joe was indeed able to find the right rollers and was able to have his men install them and reconstruct a glass framed patio door that most companies probably would have just told you was beyond repair. The final cost was just a few hundred dollars rather than the $1500. he said it would cost to replace the entire door! I felt like I was back in 1950's all over again dealing with the local guy who tries everything he can to fix a problem rather than trash what you have and just order new. I recommend Mr. Joe and his crew to everyone who still remembers what "SERVICE" means! read more

We've had good luck with South Valley. They just finished a project for us and the windows look great. We had a set of windows replaced by Home Depot a few months before, and the windows done by South Valley are definitely done better. We also found the HD project was a hassle because they will pull a permit even if the project does not require one. This happened to us and we were told by the city inspector that there was no reason for the permit (some window replacements do need permits, just not the ones we needed done. Unfortunately HD doesn't bother to differentiate, which caused us a lot of time and money. HD made it right in the end, but only after many rounds of customer service). Our South Valley experience was hassle free. My one and only complaint is that scheduling seemed a little vague, which is tough for someone like me who does not have flexible work hours. Having said that, we will not hesitate to call South Valley again when we are ready for our next set of windows. read more

South Valley Windows: CLEARLY THE BEST!!!! Before I write this review, I need to make it very clear that this is purely by my choice, and I am writing it for no better reason than, honestly, these guys deserve it!!!! I'm actually surprised there are not more reviews on Yelp. Also, please take my review seriously, because we have used them two times (two different homes) within a 15 year period, and their services and professionalism, remain steadfast. First, let me begin by telling you, they were the best priced around. I had checked a number of places, including Costco, and nobody compared. I ordered the Milgaard Tuscany Series windows, and even though they were a bit pricer, Paul worked with us to make it happen, and to get the grids in my windows, and I couldn't be happier. Paul, and his crew, Alex (sweetest guy), and who I will refer to as, "Mike the Builder" (the guy was awesome) did a fabulous job on my windows. It looks like a whole new home. I could fully trust them in my home alone, and especially appreciated how their main concern was pleasing me and giving me exactly what I wanted. Talk about flexibility!!! There's no comparison. There main goal and philosophical principle is pleasing their customer.....bottom line! By no means, did they nickle and dime me. As a matter of fact, it was quite the opposite. They did a number of things that were above and beyond the call of duty, which I can't thank them enough for. At the last minute we decided to have the windows cased. Mike was so patient with me, that he would cut a piece of wood, hold it up, and show me what it would like like, thus giving me different options. He was quick, precise, and wasted no time in what he did. As a matter of fact, that went for both guys, including Alex. Both of them entered my home each morning with a smile on their face, and went right to work. Before I go on any further, all I want to say, is give these guys a call. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Had problems with an old sliding glass door lock that failed and fell inside the door frame when I attempted to remove it. I had Paul come out to look at a sliding glass door that I needed replaced. He noticed the gutter installed into the stucco and mentioned that the framing could have rot or damage. None of the other people that looked at this door ever mentioned it. He said his crew is licensed and could repair if needed. They showed up exactly when they said and the install went great. We had a surprise rain storm before the stucco and they had someone over within a half hour of my call to look at it and within an hour to repair. I think this is an exceptional business and will use them to replace my other windows in the future. read more

I would never do business here again. Paul, the owner, portrayed himself as a customer service and community oriented person. He came to my home to measure for a door for a kitchen remodel. He was not listening and seemed to know everything, so I went with it. I was extremely dissatisfied w/the door he recommended (the size!). When he came back to the house and realized his misunderstanding about the project, he refused to take any responsibility for the $3300 door that I couldn't use. I had varying solutions so Paul wouldn't lose any money, but I also wouldn't be out too much, as I had to pay my contractor to remove and install a new door. Paul refused any compromise. I had to reach out to Marvin Windows who sold me the right door at cost and I found out that Paul also sold me upgraded door handles without me even knowing. He recommended a certain finish on the handles but didn't tell me that the handles were upgraded and $300 more. Before I bought anything, he repeatedly said that he is part of the community and prided himself on keeping customers satisfied. He misrepresented himself and his company. He could of resolved this situation without any loss of money, but he chose not to. read more

With a 39 year old home we decided to do some remodeling. This being our first experience with the remodeling I was a little nervous about the whole process and completely blind about what to expect.. We obtained a quote from another window company first that a friend had used but I wasn't completely comfortable with the owner and had no idea what to expect cost wise. After getting the first estimate I decided to call a local company for a second quote and called South Valley Windows. Paul immediately came out and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He told us about changes we needed to make to update our windows to current code that the first guy didn't mention and suggested some upgrades to specialty windows (big bay with seat and greenhouse in kitchen) that I loved. Ultimately his bid came in almost $3,000 less WITH upgraded windows and specialty windows! His guys were punctual, fast and friendly. I needed some window glass replaced, so I called these people. I easily made an appointment, and a guy came out and took measurements. I received an estimate, saying it would take 7-10 days to receive them. I approved of the estimate, via email, asking for the glass to be ordered. Then, everything went badly. The windows were not ordered when I gave the approval, so the windows took forever to come in. Communication was like pulling teeth with these people. It was if I was being dodged. And then to add insult to injury, the windows did not fit come time for installation; they had been incorrectly measured. The windows were remeasured, and after, roughly, another week they arrived. Another knock, is the fact that the installer did not clean up afterward. My hardwood floors, directly under the windows, are now covered in some type of greasy, black material. The only prompt, and orderly, thing about these people was receiving the final invoice. No doubt I received it shortly after the work was done. The entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. For the extortionate amount I paid, I did not expect this. Do not waste your time; go elsewhere. read more
