This storage building is new, clean, has good security, and very importantly, helpful and friendly staff! Jerry is passionate about his job and works hard to make sure you'll be taken care of. When I came in to look, he showed me a few units and helped me find one that best suited my needs. He told me if I signed for a unit, and found out later that I could go with a smaller, cheaper unit, that he would be happy to help me make the change and adjust the price. Many of the units come with a special, and there is a discount for residents in the South Waterfront community. The rates here are definitely higher than a lot of other storage units, but I ultimately chose it for the safe feel and convenience and I find it has been worth it. The place is set up well with plenty of dollies and two different loading docks. So far my experience has been nothing but positive and I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I give the facility top marks. Clean, well-kept, and the manager, Jerry is stellar at his job. The main company however has little, if no integrity. I closed my unit with the required 30 days notice in early October. Subsequently, I have been billed every month, regardless of my phone calls telling them. Their reply? "You are not on our books, so it's not true." They insisted I provide credit card statements which I did and they still insisted they were not billing me. Amazingly, after approx 600$ of overcharges, they realized that MY CREDIT card was being used for someone else's account. My credit card info was clearly not private and not safe there and was obviously compromised. They promised to send a check to resolve it and pay back the excess charges. It has been 4 more weeks, many phone calls, and still no check or credit card credits. The facility may be nice, but their accountability and integrity, and safety of personal CC info are sorely wanting. read more

When I was ready to get a storage unit for my business I called around to many storage facilities in the area. Most offer comparable amenities and prices are pretty standard across the board. The reason I chose SWHS is 100% based on the customer service. While everyone I have met there has been a joy to work with, Jerry is exceptionally wonderful to work with. He really goes above and beyond to make sure the customers are happy. I have been a difficult customer at times, but Jerry would never let me know it. Besides the wonderful staff, the facility is always clean and they have a strict policy of no food or drink inside the units to make sure rodents don't have a reason to sniff around. The facility has multiple loading bays for those busy days and they have large hand carts that are kept in great condition. I often have boxes shipped to my unit and the staff kindly places them in my unit for safe keeping. This place is really the best in town. I 100% recommend SWHS to anyone. read more

Along with many other OHSU employees, I have to strategize my commute to work due to lack of employee parking. Even with multiple OHSU parking options on the Waterfront, the waitlists are incredibly long (2+ years) and if you are one of the lucky ones to receive a permit, the monthly cost is not very affordable. I learned about South Waterfront Heated Storage from a colleague of mine that lives in the area. I didn't even know that they had a monthly parking option outside of storage facility services. After placing myself on the waitlist, 2 months later I got a call that a spot had opened up. After paperwork is done and filed away, you get a permit that hangs from the rear view mirror and gives you 24/7 access to your own designated parking spot located along the front of the building. I like that the parking spots are assigned and that there are security cameras surveying the area - I've left my car overnight without any problems. The monthly cost is reasonable - much less than a monthly permit at OHSU and the walk to CHH is short. Jerry is so incredibly kind - truly a good human being! Allow me to rave about this establishment for a moment and know that these words simply don't do it justice. You don't know excellent customer service until you've met Jerry at South Waterfront Heated Storage. From the moment we first spoke on the phone to moving in to helping us find parking in the South Waterfront (not even close to his "job"), it has been NOTHING but perfectly pleasant. Jerry is nothing if he's not sincere and epitomizes the term 'above and beyond'. I sent in an inquiry about a week before we moved up and LITERALLY 2 minutes later I got my first phone call from Jerry. Now, I am Miss Skeptic but Jerry was sincere from the start and I couldn't help but sign up. He didn't pressure me, told me he'd simply place a hold on a unit and went over the agreement twice to make sure there were no questions. He was competent and organized and even seemed passionate about his customer care. That continued when we showed up to move in. He took care of our dog (put a water bowl out for her while we were moving in) and offered, a number of times, some cold bottled water. The facilities were sparkling clean and the loading bays, although warm and dry when we moved in, will be great for the frequent wet days in Portland. The facilities are obviously cared for from the security cameras (everywhere) to the bathroom - clean and fresh smelling...that matters :) It's been a few days and every time I see Jerry it's like seeing an old friend. Jerry has always been available to answer any questions and has actually made calls for us to help us look for a parking spot around the South Waterfront. He is dedicated to helping out local residents, people and businesses and is enough reason alone to use the South Waterfront Storage. The beautiful facilities are just a bonus! read more

Mr. Jerry Read the manager has made so many mistakes and errors all confirmed in email and phone calls and then he takes my credit card number twice and confirms deposit and emails the unit is secured for me. Then on Move in date turns out he rented it to someone else And I only found out because I called them to say I was coming in to bring boxes. A disaster all documented in email from him. He even said my phone # was disconnected and my phone has not been changed or disconnected. He called me to ask more questions about his process and I told him I don't know how they keep their books or what ther process is but followed and responded to all of his requests and have no control over how they run the backend of the business. I did not yell but was excitedly upset at the shock of the news and the amount of money thousands of dollars this will cost me to reschedule moves, building permits and more required to move from my condo building. He needs to resign or retire as he does not appear to be organized, capable or have much memory of all of the details that were asked, given and confirmed in emails. No one should have this additional stress while moving especially when I was so detailed organized and complied. Absolutely incompetent! I rarely would take the time to write a negative review, would normally not want to take the time from my life for anything negative But feel compared to help others not fall victim to the same fate. Worst year, I wonder did he just find someone to rent the unit to for a few weeks early or more money? All very bizarre! read more

Terrible. I gave one star only because I could not give zero. Almost impossible to talk to. My wife and I tried to call and it was like pulling teeth to get a quote. We finally got a quote and decided it was a good idea and we should do it. So the next day (today 1-6-2014) we came to the storage facility, which is right next to our house, to rent one we had talked about. We entered the office thinking it would be easy. He was on the phone when we walked in, no big deal. He asked what we wanted and we said we had called and would like to rent a unit. He asked kind of rudely if we had an appointment. I said no. Then he asked us to leave so he could have privacy on the phone with his customer. I just said sure we can take our business somewhere else. He said ok. Not a good way to run a business. The units are climate controlled insuring that what we have in storage does not get damp or musty. We had storage in Beaverton which cost more and it was unheated, the units were very damp and smelly. I strongly recommend this storage facility. I really like the onsite security they have in place. Allow me to explain why I did not rent from South Waterfront Heated Storage. After looking at what was a new clean establishment I decided to get a quote. Jerry was kind enough to leave me a message. I left not one, not two but three different return messages attempting to make an appointment and confirm a unit. When the third message went un-returned after more than a week and a half. I submitted an online quote again and this time did get get a call back from Jerry within 24 hours (seemingly prompt). However as it would later turn out, Jerry wrote down the wrong storage date; easy mistake no big deal. However, I again I had to leave 2 different messages with no return call and was able to make contact on the 3rd attempt about establishing the correct move in date. A series of events lead me to have to move the date (totally my problem not any fault of Jerry or the South Waterfront Storage), however what should have been one phone call easy fix, according to Jerry, was yet again another series of messages, after messages. After two weeks, I called another facility and confirmed a date one phone call. I kindly contacted South Waterfront Heated Storage and, again was forced to leave a message. I asked someone to call and confirm receipt of the message releasing the unit. Again, no return until I received a call two weeks later regarding making an appointment to confirm my unit? A lot of hassle for a nice facility that is convenient but way over priced. Jerry is wonderful to speak with directly he is very friendly and seemingly helpful; just don't try to leave a message. read more

I was relocating to Portland and needed a small secure climate controled storage space for short term. Jerry listened to what type of space I needed and recommended one which turned out to be perfect. But, I got delayed moving in for a few days due to a snow storm. They held my unit at no extra charge. Andy was great getting the paperwork done quickly but double checked everything to make sure it was accurate. No long term commitment required either which made it ideal for my shot term storage. The storage unit exceeded my expectations for cleanliness and security.
