Dr. Trnavsky is the best dentist when it comes to root canals. I've always had bad experiences with needles and drillings. Almost all the dentists, except for the current guy I've had for years, doesn't treat me well, understand my pain tolerance or understand how to do root canals or fix cavities. They don't numb the teeth properly. Dr. Trnavsky has worked on my teeth twice, and I've been grateful with his work. He's made the experience great. I wish I had known about him a long time ago. Dr. Trnavsky doesn't waste time, he numbs the teeth properly and goes in. And before you know it, the procedure is done. I always get nervous because the previous dentists, over the years, takes a long time to work on my teeth. The previous dentists tend to not numb the area properly and when they insert the needle to numb, it hurts like heck. Dr. Trnavsky made sure I feel it as little as possible. As for the front desk, the women are very polite, understanding and professional. They all have positive attitudes and upbeat. I want to thank Dr. Trnavsky for his great work. I had an apicoectomy done in this office in August, 2025. Everything about this office is FANTASTIC - the front folks, the assistants, the doctor (Dr. Trnavsky). They are helpful, friendly, kind, and SUPER efficient, experienced, and knowledgeable - excellent care. Well a follow up. My last review was of the Westlake office this one is of the Simi valley office. Here we are a half hour before my appointment. I get a call and said that they're not going to take me as a patient. Because of my 100% accurate review. The Simi valley office in the exact same situation was going to charge me $150 less than the Westlake office. That I said was I thought was going to steal from me. Before I made the appointment at the Westlake office I called my insurance check my insurance dollar amount available and after they said that they could not get through I call the insurance and I was able to get through again so how do I know how much this type of visit would cost but they wanted me to pay out of pocket and then me to get reimbursed through the insurance company cuz they said they could not get through. Well when you have two weeks to get through to the insurance company and you can't get through in two weeks well sounds like you're either incompetent or trying to steal from me. So now the Simi valley office because I made a 100% accurate Yelp review said that they will not take me as a patient because they are offended that I told the truth.. but again had two weeks to say no but they waited until a half hour before my appointment is a they didn't like my Yelp review so they're not going to be a good fit for me . Again they were referred to me by my regular dentist so yeah I have a very low opinion of these people. read more

As the panic set over the weekend that I needed a root canal, I was pretty much assured that this Monday unlike others was really going to suck. I was pleasantly surprised... Yes, going to the dentist for a prep was not exactly the funnest thing, but the best of it was Dr. Trnavsky and his team. I have to say, it was a GREAT experience.... Everyone should do this! One of the neatest things was watching Liz (the assistant) and Dr. Trnavsky work together, silently other than giving her measure means of something in my skull... I had a root canal with Dr. Gharaman at SCEG in Simi Valley this morning. It was the easiest root canal I have ever had. The entire process didn't take more than an hour. Dr. Gharaman was very gentle, kind, and fast. I've barely had any pain since this morning. The front desk people were really nice and friendly. Office was super clean and comfortable. Because of the bad rap the root canals get, I was not looking forward to going in for the treatment. But the staff at Southern California Endodontic Group proved that root canals aren't that bad after all! They started by taking these cool 3D X-rays of my mouth to see where the nerves were located and how far from the roots they were. Dr. Kang showed me the X-ray and explained everything. Before they got started, they offered me headphones and an iPod to listen to music. The worst part was the numbing shots, but after that, I couldn't feel anything so it was a piece of cake. Dr. Kang even explained that it was normal that my heart rate went up after the shots because of the epinephrine in the anesthesia. They used a dental dam to isolate the tooth and make sure nothing went down my throat. From the paperwork, to the 3D X-rays, to the root canal treatment, I was in the office for about 2.5 hours. The root canal wasn't much different from the process of getting a filling. And Dr. Kang was so gentle and she helped explain everything to me. She answered all my questions. They even gave me a warm cloth to wipe my face when I was done! SCEG made the process smooth and comfortable from start to finish. If you have to get a root canal, this is the place to do it! (And it was great that they took my insurance and told me about the cost upfront!) read more

We can't say enough about SoCalEndo. We had been told they were great but you don't really get it till you get there. Their waiting room is put together and clean and the front staff is all over it. Nothing impersonal here. We had very special needs and were probably a pain but you would never know it. We were treated so well you'd have thought we were somebody special. We're not. That's just how everyone gets treated there. Dr. Kang was incredible. Patient and caring, we couldn't have asked for more. Everyone is totally professional and you feel like family. No one wants to get a root canal. So, something must be said for a group of people that manage to make getting a root canal a pleasant experience. Dr. Trnavsky is one of the most professional and polite doctors I have met. He explains the procedure prior to its start and does everything to make you feel at ease. He is empathetic and knowledgeable, and I would not hesitate to go back to him, god forbid, if I need more work done. Amber, the assistant during my procedure, was also incredible. She basically made it the "spa" version of dental work. She massaged my shoulder while the doctor numbed my mouth, and gave me a warm towel that smelt like lavender (I think?) for my face when I was done. While I do not want another root canal, if that ugly pain shows its face once again, I know where I will be going for treatment and paradoxically, a relaxing time. read more

I was referred to this dental group by my general dentist for a root canal and I was so impressed with Dr. Kang and her entire staff! Everyone is so welcoming, helpful and upbeat. I am a huge baby when it comes to dental work because I have such sensitive teeth and gums but I was so relaxed and no pain whatsoever during my procedure. There is nobody who hates going to the dentist more than me, so much so that I lived with a painful tooth, that was so sensitive to heat and cold for weeks. When I finally did see a dentist, he told me that I needed a root canal and sent me to go see Dr. Sophia Kang. I thought to myself this is probably going to be painful and wondered if I could just live with the pain I was already experiencing. Dr. Kang and her staff, Alisha and Dawn put me at ease right away. The first thing was the consultation in which she made sure the tooth that needed the root canal was indeed the tooth that needed the root canal. By taking x-rays and a CT Scan she was able to isolate the tooth. She confirmed it with a cold pressure test. There was no doubt that it was the tooth. She explained the root canal procedure in a non technical way that made it easy to understand. But explaining the procedure is one thing actually performing it is something entirely different. Dr. Kang ensured me that I would not feel a thing. So reluctantly, I did it. Alisha provided me with tinted glasses so the light would not bother me and offered me headphones with music, though I did not partake of the music. I wanted to be able to her Dr. Kang, in case she said this is going to hurt or "oh my God." She never did. The Novacaine or whatever they are using these days was no issue. Dr. Kang's skill ensured I barely felt the injections. After waiting several minutes for the area to become numb, she confirmed the tooth was indeed numb by doing the same test using cold pressure as she had to find the sensitive tooth to begin with. I felt nothing. We were ready to begin. She put a latex type material around the tooth to ensure nothing got into my throat or onto the tooth during the procedure. This helped immensely to insure no water or tooth fragments we're going down my throat causing me to swallow. As I watched Dr. Kang work it was easy to see this was not her first rodeo. The skill at which she used her tools and way she called out for the different items she needed during the procedure, is all I needed to see for my mind to be at ease and know that I was in good hands. The type of hands that make pain go away. The type of hands that can heal. The type of hands that care. Dr. Kang asked me how I was doing throughout and while the procedure was long, it had nothing to do with the Dr. Kang and everything to do with my long tooth roots. When it was over, they provided me with Advil and that was the only thing I took. I did not take anything later that night or the next day, as I was feeling fine. I felt stupid for not getting this done sooner, but felt fine. This practice has a couple of other dentists . While I am sure they are as qualified as Dr. Kang is, it is hard to know if they're cut from the same cloth. I would not chance it, I would only go and see her. She is the star of the show and an angel of healing. While, I hope I will never need to have another root canal in my life, if I did I would not hesitate to go see Dr. Kang. She is a very sweet women and more importantly a skilled professional. Simi Valley is lucky to have her. More importantly for me, I was luck to have her. Thank you Dr. Kang. read more

Excellent experience and root canal are not usually paired together. I've had 2 root canals previously and was not looking forward to going into another. Dr. T and his staff Dawn, Velvet, and Angela went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and pain free the entire appointment. My nerves were settled quickly and Dr. T constantly checked in with me to make sure I was doing okay. I highly recommend this office if you are in need of a root canal. Had a rootine root canal done =;-). Dr. Trnavsky was fantastic. Like many, I get real anxious in the chair and he was patient, plus the whole office and treatment rooms are comforting, and his team and staff are friendly and completely attitude-free. Headphone music is offered. I have to also say that I had no pain going in to the appt. It was that the nerve had just begun to die and discolor the tooth, so my dentist recommended the root canal so I could get a good-looking crown. So, actually, I'm pleased to say that the most discomfort came from the needles, not the tooth! My mouth is still numb from my 4 canal root canal. I could not wait to write this review. Dr. Kang was amazing. I dreaded my appointment today because I thought it was going to hurt and suck. The staff was awesome at check in, the dental hygienist was so patient with me (I gag on those X-ray things). Then Dr. Kang arrives, she consults with you, tells you what they are going to do, and bam, she gets right to it. Drilling, picking and all of that jazz. I was nervous at first but settled down, she was so awesome. I couldn't stop thanking her, I felt like a dummy. But man! Referred here from a reputable general dentistry practice and am sure that the doctors would be amazing if you could get past their front office staff. Called to make an appointment with someone who clearly didn't know enough about the office and it's protocol to appropriately schedule. She contradicted herself several times within the 10 minutes of speaking putting me on hold 4 times likely to ask someone else in the office how to answer my basic questions. Even without knowing what information and imaging studies I would be bringing with me, she started quoting additional fees and additional appointments needed prior to scheduling treatment. read more

My Root Canal treatment was actually a wonderful experience as Dr. Kang is so knowledgeable, compassionate with a gentle touch and a very soft voice updating me on what she was doing throughout the procedure. I never even had much pain the rest of the day after I left either, I never needed Advil until night time before bed! The office is so friendly and welcoming with Dawn at the front desk who is very welcoming when you walk in the front door and very accommodating, she was able to squeeze me in the very next day to see Dr. Kang because I expressed I couldn't bite down without immense pain! Albert was Dr. Kang's assistant and he was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout my treatment giving me very precise after care instructions for when I came home. Because I needed "retreatments" of two previous root canal procedures from several years ago, I have now visited Dr Kang's office only five times and already we're all on a first name bases and sharing stories about our lives, our kids and even our pets. They are awesome!! Next, is that dreaded few steps to the exam/treatment room - well not to worry, Hector, Monica and Susan are there for you. Again friendly as can be!! Your comfort is obviously their number one priority - you're offered a warm blanket, music, sunglasses to block the exam light, and friendly conversation to ease your jitters!! By then you're thinking this is not so bad after all. Lastly, you meet Dr Kang!!Suddenly all that dread, those fearful expectations, and for some of us, that increase in blood pressure immediately fades away!! The moment she introduces herself you know you're in good hands. Her smile and friendly personality immediately exudes reassurance, caring, patience and confidence and more importantly you know she's there for you, your comfort, your care and your treatment. Both of my root canal procedures presented some challenges. Dr Kang chose not to take the easy way out, not to pull the tooth or "surgically" treat the tooth. Instead each time she revisited my X-rays and determined that perseverance would prevail and that each tooth could be, and was, saved!!! I needed up getting referred to Southern California Endodontic group. I had a incident in the kitchen. I bent down to get something and I came down on my teeth on a granite counter top. I ended up calling my dentist Dr. Yaftaly after hours and she had me come in and take some X-rays. From the trauma that happened she wanted me to get better X-rays. So we went to Southern California Endodontic Group. I saw Dr. Sophia Kang she was super informative and had me wait a few weeks to see if my tooth was permeant damage. I came back a month later and yes there was no feeling in two teeth. I was going to have two root canal because I have no feeling in both teeth. I had to have two root canals done. Not something that anyone wants to hear. I really had no idea what a root canal involve. Let me say shots lots of them, having to sit in a chair for along time, and having your mouth open for a while. I was not super thrilled with shots the hygienist was super sweet and talked to me the entire time. There were some tears but I made it though and then it was way easier. I started to fall asleep and then I was done. Now I have to have my dentist fill the holes permanently. The staff at the front is amazing and has been so nice to work with. They care about your teeth and how to get you in with your schedule. During Covid they are all make sure they are super safe with taking temperatures and have the right PPE don't for get to wear a mask till your in your room. If you ever have a dental issue and need to see a specialist then look no further. 5 stars for Southern California Endodontic group !!!!!! read more
