Name a chicken spot better than Southern Classic? You can't cause this is the BEST!!! This may be the best fast food fried chicken in the south and that's saying a lot! One thing for sure, I'm getting a Jumbo Combo or Classic meal every time I come to town. Their tenders and rolls are delicious too! I personally love the fries especially when they're fresh. Their red beans and rice is also a good choice! Depending on when you come there may be a long line (IYKYK) so if you don't mind waiting for some of the best piping hot, well seasoned chicken you've ever had in yo life, then join the line and try them out! Yeah still 2 stars although they have brought some specials the order taker still has a tendency of Up charging for things not asked for. It's akin to theft by deception at this point. How? This is my second location and second stop at this business Southern Classic is closer to my grandmother's iron skillet fried chicken than most, so 4 stars is easy. It is good chicken. It isn't greasy, the staff is super friendly. I think their business model is brilliant. I think what would push it over the top is some spices. It doesn't have to be hot spices, but something with a little flavor. My personal preference is a little crispier and spicier, so it may easily be 5 stars for others. So I traveled to Shreveport for work. Everyone who knew I would be there said I had to try this place. I was like it's chicken and I am from the metro NOLA area so I feel like I know good food. Welp this is the "BEST" fried chicken we have ever had in any restaurant we have eaten from east of the Mississippi!!! That's why the drive through line is almost always lined up on the street. Their French fries almost never make to the house, we only live five minutes away! This chicken is so good, that the KFC, Churches Chicken down the street are shut down; and the Popeyes is limping too. I travel 40 to 45 weeks year I've eaten at almost every restaurant that sells or prepares chicken. From small diners drive through's to sit down elegant restaurants. The food at Southern classic chicken in Shreveport Louisiana in my opinion has to be the best tasting chicken in the world. Chicken is tender and tasty just the right on the spice not over cook literally peeled off the bone. The Southern Classic in Mansfield, LA is as good as it gets. My nice, correctly refers to it as Crack chicken. If you have ever tried it, you are hooked for life. -- I tried one in Shreveport (I think the one the burned down a few years back), which was also very good.
