We initially provided a 5 star Google review because Southern Goodman significantly discounts the cost of the service if you provide a 5 star review. In hindsight, we would NOT recommend this company. Please read the details below. This was the third scheduled appointment. The previous two appointments were in the afternoon. Southern Goodman rescheduled our service to take care of customers without AC. Our technician was hired by Southern Goodman about a month prior. According to the technician, he had several years of AC experience. He spent over two hours doing the service on two units and a Mitsubishi unit. He found no problems with the Mitsubishi unit. He did program the remote. He said that the ductwork upstairs was not properly installed and all the air was going into the insulation. He was informed that the ductwork passed the County's inspection. He did not rethink his conclusion. He found that the capacitor was not working. The unit is under a 10 year parts and labor warranty. He was informed that the warranty company would take care of the repairs. He was informed that the warranty was parts and labor. The technician said that the repair would not be covered. The warranty company arrived in the same afternoon. The capacitator was replaced under warranty. The alleged improper ductwork was simply a piece of tape that fell off. The warranty company retaped the ductwork. While looking at the ductwork, the technician observed that the drain was not cleaned and was close to overflowing. The second unit was serviced with no reported problems. He did recommend a pump to manage the condensate under the house. This recommendation was seconded by the warranty company. The technician did push a maintenance program with the company. The service manager refunded our money. read more

I wish I had seen the yelp reviews before calling here. I can't agree more with all the other people who have posted. I called because a breaker was flipping they charged 99 to come out which I don't like then they replaced a part. I get that you need to have some margins to your work but they charged 220 dollars for a what I just found was a 15 dollar part. I mean I couldn't be more pissed off right now. I will NEVER NEVER call this place again. I hope screwing me for 200 bucks was worth a life time of business. I will say the technician was friendly. read more

PLEASE BEWARE AND SHOP AROUND IF YOU NEED WORK DONE. DO NOT CALL THIS PLACE! This business charged my dad 5 pounds of Freon (MO99A) @ $200 a pound, a hard start kit for $250 and a one time coil cleaning for $219. Almost a $1500 bill. I called 4 other businesses to get a quote, none were anywhere near this price. $400 @ the most for everything on my dads invoice. I even called Southern Goodman to get a separate quote to see what the prices were for MO99A, they told me the first pound is $200 and each additional point is $175, which is not what they charged my dad, ($200/lb) And then a manager called me back Saying his technician forgot to give my dad that price and that his employees should have never gave me prices over the phone, so consumers can't call to get price quotes? Ill never recommend this place to anyone. Businesses will charge what they want, I get it, but I promise, I've told everyone about what happened and they'll never get business in my area. Had them do a routine check and I would highly recommend their service. I made the appointment over the phone, they called me back when an earlier appt came up, and they called to keep me up to date on the arrival of the technician. The technician was great, polite, took time to explain what he was doing, listened to my concerns and came up with a solution. He wore booties in the house and cleaned up after he was finished. If I could give this company a score of ten I would. They are very professional, extremely informative and thorough which helped us to make the best decision for our needs. This is the 2nd time doing business with them and the 2nd time was even better than the first which I wouldn't have thought possible. Silas (a certified senior technician) is a walking encyclopedia for this company. He was incredibly patient, friendly & a joy to work with. Tommy (sales) is the icing on the cake! He really knows his stuff and gives you all of the options (good, bad & in-between). The service/installations guys are incredible, professional, and respectful of your property. The company reminds me of the old days when the merchant understood that if you treat the customer fairly, the customer would always return. Southern Goodman is the only company we'll ever use! Those other guys with all the fancy ads & commercials don't come close to Southern Goodman services! read more

A Southern Goodman technician came out to check our gas furnace (which they installed), and quoted us $1800 to pressurize the gas lines and look for a gas leak. We had another company do the same job for $367. Along with checking all of our gas lines, the new company also installed a leaky valve on the furnace. The Southern Goodman technician didn't even find that leaky valve, which was under warranty! read more

They charged $99 to diagnose the unit. The guy recommends new unit. We say we can't afford it at the time. He says there is a leak of the refrigerant so he supposedly added more. The charge is $244. It's going to reach 100 degree temps this week! I keep 4 small kids! The house got hotter after the guy left! I call them the next day! They read his report, which I did not get a copy of, saying we refused repairs! Lies! Now they want to charge another $99 plus the cost of additional repairs for him to come back and do what he should have done the first time! This company is all about the $$$! read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. I was having a problem with my AC freezing up and the first technician that came out spent about two hours and from his "extensive diagnostics" he said that I had some debris in my line that he cleared and replaced some freon. Within a couple days time, or less, the same issue persisted. Southern Goodman sent out a different technician who stated that my drain line was clogged and that my capacitor was bad. After I agreed to the repairs he then proceeded to try to convince me that there was a possible freon leak and that this diagnostic would be an extra $400 and that it could be so extensive that it could have damaged the compressor and condenser that I may need to replace my unit. He only reported these findings after completing the original stated work. How did he not see this originally? He then offered to have a "Comfort Specialist" come out and give an estimate on system replacement. He also continued to try to upsale me with a monthly service of $22/month. I refused to believe that my unit went from barely able to find any issues to needing a new unit. I paid for the repairs that were already completed and obtained a second opinion. The technician from the new company stated that it was my blower motor and no way it was my capacitor. He fixed my blower motor and I have had no other issues since going on 3 weeks now. Southern Goodman was seeing an opportunity to take advantage of consumer. How could they send out two technicians who could not or did not find the correct issue. After discussing this with one of the managers at the office he offered to make concessions on the decision of a tentative purchase of a new unit after discussing unit needs with the "Comfort Specialist". I cancelled my appointment and did not meet with the "comfort Specialist" because at this point all trust had been jeopardized. So after a substantial cost of unnecessary repairs by Southern Goodman they fixed nothing. read more

Stay away from this company. I was a loyal customer with them for more than 10 years and always happy with their service but something changed. They just recently tried to overcharge me about $2000.00 yes TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS on an A/C repair. I tried to settle it with their management but they shrugged it off. I purchased a brand new unit back in February and has since had to call for services a few times. Once there was already a leak after only 4 months. I had to ask over 4 times to get my paperwork for the installation. Finally after being relentless I received them via email. Most recently my unit has been struggling to keep up with the set temperature and after a service call was told my filter needed to be changed. Shortly after a new filter was installed but no changes. After the 3rd day I was given more BS excuses as to why my system wasn't keeping up 3 different ones in a single phone call. Finally I was just upset and expressed that I was tired of getting BS as to which the manager of this company responded that I didn't need to get ghetto with him. Unprofessional rude and just utterly disrespectful then said he would charge me a fee if he came out again and found nothing wrong. He never even entered the attic to check for any problems but said there was none. read more
