What a great little spot for coffee that is also a multipurpose, connected space. I had a little bit of a hard time finding this place. It is in the back of Olive Tree and Vine if you park out in the front on West Main. It also looks like there was a back entrance, but I did not go in that way. The back entrance takes you right in to Southern Muggs. The coffee was absolutely delicious and the barista was very helpful in providing suggestions. There is also bubble tea. The space connects to Olive Tree and Vine that has flavored olive oil/balsamic vinegar to try as well as an ample selection of diverse wines, and local beer and ciders. They even have small plates and charcuterie. The space sells local art, and has all different types of seating. What a treasure! read more

Ordered a delicious vanilla coconut latte with a delicious, plump pumpkin miniature cake. There were several seats and styles of seating for sitting and enjoying a game of chess or talking with your small groups. The lady barista was extremely nice and attentive. The best parts of this coffee experience were the atmosphere and choice of drinks. I bought several of the specialty beers, too. They have tons of flavors, styles, from wines to beer to coffee. I learned 2 things here: how to play chess (sort of) and what popping pearls (also sort of)! Cartersville Georgia is a small town that has little to no coffee shops other than Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. So Southern Mugs is going to do really well here! I gleefully marched into Southern Mugs and was so in love with the atmosphere and ..... the record player! The inside is very homey, like I think this place actually used to be a house. There is a fun chalkboard that people can draw on, as well as games!!! My boyfriend taught me how to play chess here, but well, that didn't go as great as the coffee did! I had an iced latte and it was delicious. The espresso was very smooth and quite nutty ish? It was great! The people working here were also the sweetest. This place also connects to like a wine/olive oil store? I dunno, I wasn't as interested in that part as I was the actual coffee. I've come here several times for meetings downtown, and it's a pretty neat little place. They offer a variety of seating areas, from high top tables to couches in the quiet front to a bit more than gently worn chairs in the back entrance. This allows you to be quiet with your work or meet with a fairly sizeable group, depending in what you need. They also host the poetry readings for Georgia Highlands Creative Writing club, which I think is a great way to be engaged with the surrounding community. For drinks, they offer an array of coffees, including keto's star, Bulletproof coffee (I like keto in many ways, but they missed me on this one), but they also have teas, including bubble teas! If you're downtown in Cartersville, this place is worth stopping to check out. read more

I stopped in for a coffee and had a delightful experience. I'm not a fancy coffee drinker so I just ordered a coffee with creamer. The coffee was very delicious. My son wanted a cookie and the barista was very sweet and came around to hand it to him and put a smile on his face. I always appreciate when my son is acknowledged and it was even better when she interacted with him. The atmosphere is lovely. There is a room with many comfortable seats where I could spend time relaxing with a book or my laptop. Going from the coffee shop to the olive oil store is a sweet hallway with seating and lights for a romantic atmosphere (see photo). The bathroom was also very clean. My parents brought me here on my first trip to Cartersville. So cute, cozy and charming! I loved this place as soon as I walked in. Great coffee at good prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. They aren't skimping out on espresso here either, a medium latte has 3 shots! Some drinks have even more, like the Abracadabra. They have couches, chess games, and chalk boards on the wall you can draw on. Pretty much everything that Starbucks wishes it was. I wish I had one close to me! read more

We were passing through Cartersville, GA and I wanted a cup of coffee. I noticed the sign in the window of Southern Muggs Coffee Shop, so we parked and went it. It was one of two highlights of our trip ! (the other one was flying in a biplane). We learned that it was modeled after a similar shop in our home town. The olive oil selection, which is located at the front of the store, was very impressive (bought some and a bottle of local wine). In the "center" of the shop is the craft beer store; it was wonderful. Finally in the back of the shop is Muggs ! Oh my goodness ! We had coffee (several), bagels, and pastries. BUT the BEST part was meeting Camryn !!! She was a top finalist in American Idol and performed in Hollywood and Hawaii. She was such a blessing and graced us with a song. Folks, listen to me, you should go out of your way to pay a visit to this locally owned business and enjoy the southern hospitality and wonderful products that they sell ! Amazing!!!! And new year came and switched to sugar free vanilla .... JUST AS SMOOTH AND YUMMY!!! This place is so eclectic, and the atmosphere is amazing. Only good vibes from this place. Now the workers!? Oh so sweet and they remembered me after two visits (I make a daily visit)!!! Very sweet people, and very clean. Frappe is super strong. If you like strong coffee flavor I'd definitely recommend. The bagel was very hard as if it had been sitting for a good minute. I was given a cup of cream cheese to put on myself because they were starting to get busy. Bacon taste and looks identical to microwave bacon. Traveling north on I 75 I searched Google Maps for local coffee shop. We drove 11 minutes off route to try Southern Muggs. (This is something I practice wherever I travel to support local and avoid big name coffee shop) It was so worth it!! The service was excellent. The coffee was delicious and a lot less expensive then big name coffee, and we Loved the atmosphere. As a bonus we even bought a balsamic vinegar infusion in the shop in front. This is my favorite place to hang out when I am not at home. They have great live music and other events on the weekends, which is a lot of fun. However, the quality of the coffee is not consistent, which is a big deal when you're usually buying expensive coffee like lattes.
