The…read moreoutdoor area contains several different sections...there's a tot pool, splash pad, obstacle course, pool wall climbing, shallow side, deep end, ample seating, covered shaded party area, and plenty of lifeguards. Not gonna lie, the lifeguards kinda run the pool like a prison yard but it's important to watch and monitor the kids for safety. Allentown Splash is 10 times better than what I expected and way better than ole faithful in Glendale. There is a line outside due to staffing, they do check bags which causes a slight delay but keeps everyone safe. Younger kids will have to pass the swim test to down the water slide. Some sections were closed I noticed or maybe the kids didn't want to go on that side...who knows.

I've used the pool and the weight room here so that's what my review will focus on. The locker…read morerooms are fine. The pool has a shallow end and a deep end. Unfortunately there are only a couple of lanes available in the deep end as the rest of the deep end is saved for things like water aerobics. The weight room was pretty disappointing. It was missing quite a bit of equipment I would expect in a weight room. I ended up choosing a different gym for my weight lifting, as I was constantly having to change my planned workout due to a lack of equipment. The pool is good though.

Located below the I-495 -Woodrow Wilson Bridge, the park is right at the southernmost point and great water views of Virginia and sites within Maryland like the National Harbor across the Potomac River. There is a walking trail along the river with informational signs and displays that describe the really cool, informative information markers of sights and the past history of the area along the trail. A 10-minute walk on the trail will bring you to other parks (Ford's Landing, Shipyard, and Roberdeaux) and eventually to Old Town Alexandria with its many shops and restaurants --situated along the water. Another added plus is that the park offers a place for fishing, playgrounds, basketball courts, and multi-use fields. I came here with some friends for the first time and had a relaxing time just being outdoors and enjoying this great space in nature. We grabbed a picnic table....while having lunch and taking in the weather. Between the space and multi-use areas, it is the perfect spot to for walks along the river, running, exercising or simply....raking time to put things on pause and enjoy the outdoors. ELITE TIP: It is a good place to park if you are planning to visit Old Town Alexandria and want an easy place to park.....without having to deal with the limited street parking, risk of parking meter tickets or the high price garage parking. and enjoy a walk along the river.

It's best to go early. Plenty of benches and covered areas for comfort while in the sun. Great place to walk with your dog or go on a date. There were also other places you could park further down the walk if you don't want to start at the end near the bridge. Lovely walk that I would enjoy doing again.

I am no newcomer to military campgrounds, having used them since 1982. I have stayed at over three…read moredozen different ones, Army, Navy and Air Force. This one is the worst, by far. The first thing I saw when entering the Famcamp was an overflowing dumpster; grossly overflowing. After setting up, our first trip is to the bathhouse. My wife informed me the ladies room was disgusting, and there was only one roll of toilet paper in the entire restroom. That was one more than in the men's room. The men's room also has more than half of the light fixtures inoperable (which did imrove the appearance). The grounds are also lacking basic maintenance, with trash and broken limbs lying about in various places. There is evidence of past improvements, such as concrete pads for the sites. It appears that the current leadership for the Famcamp has no interest in maintaining it.

The card machine for the arcade wasn't dispensing cards. The staff was unwilling to help. One staff told my son to wait at the counter. He waited for several minutes. When a crowd of kids began to gather around the counter, a staff member eventually showed up. My son was told by staff that he needed to wait for a manager because she didn't have the "pin." She was unwilling to call the manager and wasn't sure where he was. By the time my son found the manager, he said the register was closed. My son was looking forward to laser tag, but left sorely disappointed.
