Usually chicken is more on the drier side but Notos sure knows how to make it so it's not dry It was super tender, juicy, and flavorful. brown rice -- was different (in a good way) I could be wrong but it had a hint of cinnamon which sounds odd but it somehow worked. If it isn't cinnamon, whatever seasoning they use in the brown rice = amazing. Side: chickpeas. I love chickpeas so it was yummy! Pita bread = to die for! I'd go here again. Finally gave this place a try and I was not disappointed. On a Wednesday evening, it wasn't too busy. Very nice employee who rang me up and explained their menu. The concept of the mediterranean and southern fusion is cool. I might try the fried chicken next time. This time, I tried the chicken tikka kebab with white rice and a side salad. I driven by Notos Southern Bites many times, but the name kinda threw me for a loop, so I never ventured in. Recently, I was in the area trying to kill time before heading to my part-time job, so I decided to give them a try. I had an enjoyable experience, but definitely didn't experience the southern part of the restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Bowl through their website. While the inside seemed clean was practically empty, I am a fan of eating in my car...ALONE. My food was ready in less than 15 minutes and I was in an out of the venue in no time. The flavors were really good, but again; I didn't get any notes of southern cuisine. Maybe there are other menu items that hit on these notes, but I didn't get it. read more

We're went to that giant wine shop next door and we're hungry. I reluctantly decided to try this place. What a pleasant surprise. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Staff was super amazing. They really enjoy taking care of the customers and proving the best customer service. They went above and beyond, literally leaving my jaw dropped for their attention to details and professionalism. Location was clean and atmosphere was very calm and welcoming. This goes to show how long it's been since I've been to Total Wine -- I never noticed this place was right next to them! There are such a unique combination of southern food and Mediterranean. I knew I had to try the best from both sides, and friends had been telling me to get fried chicken and a gyro, specifically. I honestly didn't want fried chicken, so I got the spicy chicken sandwich instead. And I didn't wanna double down on chicken, so I got the shawarma gyro. The order was supposed to be ready in 5-10 minutes, and I went to browse in ALDI in the meantime. When I got back it was ready, so I grabbed my napkins and I was on my way. To make sure you grab napkins on the way out -- there were none in the bag when they handed it to me. Also, you can dine in if you'd like -- they have plenty of tables, but it's set up like a casual fast restaurant. I got home and was delighted and how yummy everything looked! I had the chicken sandwich first. I loved everything about it. I could always do spicier, but it had a nice kick. The bun was nice, the chicken itself was good I think... tried to taste it by itself but the ends sticking outside of the bun were more bread than meat. But everything together was fantastic. The gyro was one of the most flavorful ones I have had to date... I don't know what kind of magic they got going on, but I loved that. Introduction: I was very happy when Notos opened a couple of years ago because it was something unique to my neighborhood. I bought my home in Russett in 2020. And while Russett is a nice neighborhood and has a lot of advantages, one of the disadvantages is somewhat the lack of unique local restaurants within 2 miles of me. Go a little further to Laurel in Prince George's County, 3-5 miles away there are some more local options, or some other areas a bit further. But if I want to quickly grab some food near me, before Notos, my options were Panera, Chick Fil-A, Chipotle, Popeyes, McDonald's, Burger King, & Royal Farms. In early 2021, &pizza opened, which was a nice addition. Charley's Steaks too was good more recently. But those are still chain restaurants. Granted chains can be great. For example, I love CAVA, and I learned one opened in Laurel about 4.5 miles from my home (where Potbelly used to be), but I still haven't been to that location. I'm more likely to go to the Columbia location of CAVA a bit more than double the distance. Restaurant Experience in General: Notos is somewhat like CAVA in that they have bowls & wraps on their menu. But they also have a "Southern" menu with fish, fried chicken, etc. I've mainly had the Mediterranean bowl with rice &/or lettuce as a base, typically chicken, hummus, olives, & a few other ingredients. This place like CAVA is delicious! The price is comparable around $11-12 for a bowl nowadays. They are pretty nice in here too, and the service is efficient. I'd say I come to Notos on average once a month as this is a solid option in the area. They also have specials on Monday & Tuesday advertised in front. Unfortunately, it just seems like I never end up going there on either of those days. November 2023 visit: I had a second date here at lunchtime on a rainy November Sunday during Thanksgiving weekend. I told her the thing to get was a bowl and that it's excellent. She got this much more expensive platter that was like double the price. I paid for hers, but was annoyed. She said it was way more food than she thought. I told her, she should've gotten the bowl like I did, and she admitted after the fact mine would've been a better choice. I helped eat a couple of the things, but some of the food ended up going to waste. The food was still high quality. This 2nd date was a strange one. The first date was great, and this one fell flat. This chick was from Indonesia, worked with kids living at the home with the family & kids in Lanham, and had just moved here in October. She told me that she & the family were moving to California next week! I said how crazy it was. Who knew if it was true or not? She Uber/Lyft to get to the first date in Greenbelt with me taking her back home. This time she did the same but quite a bit further to Maryland City, and she said don't worry about taking her back home. Visits with my girlfriend in 2024 & Fried Chicken: I got a girlfriend in February. We've been to Notos together a couple of times. She really liked on our first visit on Oscar Sunday in March. This has been an option for us. I had mentioned to the person making the food &/or cashier a couple of times in 2022-2024, that one of these days I should try the Southern side of the menu like the fried chicken. The guy assured me the fried chicken is great, and I said I live close to here, and there's already Royal Farms & Popeyes for fried chicken, so I'm not sure when I would get. One day in the summer I believe it was Friday evening, my girlfriend saw the outside posters with Monday/Tuesday specials. Of course, it wasn't those days, but she said I didn't know they had fried chicken! I said yes they do, but I've never had since I've always gotten the bowl here! And if I'm in the mood for fried chicken, I'd likely go to Royal Farms with a small chance I'd go to Popeyes. This was one of those days when we were undecided on what we wanted to eat, and I said, let's just go to Notos. She said that she wanted to get the fried chicken, and since I wasn't dead set on any particular food option that day, I said I think day is the day I'm going to finally try the Notos fried chicken myself too. I have to say the fried chicken was excellent too. On par with the high quality of Royal Farms, but different. Also, it was more expensive than RF. But I definitely wouldn't rule out as an option here, but if I'm going to Notos, I'm almost always going to get the bowl since I know that's excellent and the only of its kind in Maryland City. Conclusion: Definitely will keep coming back for the bowls & even the fried chicken on a rare occasion. Maybe I'll try getting a wrap and/or other options. read more

I stopped by Notos Southern Bites on my way to work, and I was pleasantly surprised by the twist on their name. Though I expected soul food given the "Southern" in the name, it turns out they serve Mediterranean cuisine. Ambiance was good as it was a clean bright restaurant store front with lots of lighting. The food was quite good. The chickpeas were perfectly spiced, the hummus was creamy and delicious, and the fish was well-prepared. The service was a bit slower than expected, though it wasn't too busy when I visited. I'm guessing the delay was due to the fish being made to order, which is understandable. Parking was convenient since it's located in an outlet. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will likely return to explore more of their menu. read more

Upon arriving I was kindly greeted by a gentleman named David. I asked him what the best thing on the menu was for my buddy and I. David recommend the lamb kabob, beef kabob, fried chicken and told us to have a seat. We were served 2 beautiful plates within minutes. Delicious lunch bowls next to Total Wine & More! An employee at Total Wine recommended this lunch spot to me. I was greeted and told the person working that it was my first time. He welcomed me and began to explain the offerings. I selected the Bowl with Chicken Shawarma. I was able to customize my toppings - white rice, cucumber salad, feta, cilantro hummus, pickled onions, mixed greens etc. They have a variety of sauces to chose from. I tried the Noto sauce, it was decent but I think I would try garlic next time. The baklava was flavorful with a honey sauce. I even received a loyalty card where you receive your 6th bowl free. I visit the Laurel location quite often - 1-3/week because I love the food and the customer service. There is a young lady at this location who always greets me "hello Ma'am" with a smile. She is cordial and knows exactly how I like my bowl prepared. The only question she asks is, if I haven't said, "are you having chicken today too, ma'am"? This was my first time trying this new establishment. It's very clean and modern inside. The location is also convenient for Target and Total Wine shoppers. My fried chicken dinner was flavorful but very greasy/oily. I enjoyed the seasoning but just too much oil that I had to Pat it with a paper towel. The biscuit was delicious. The Mac and cheese lost me because as a southern girl I prefer baked Mac n cheese and this is more stove top and runny. The baklava was delicious. This place was absolutely delicious!! I loveeeeeeeed their fried Catfish, it was juicy, crispy and had the best flavored.. whoever seasoned it, wooo did a great job! We will actually go there for like a bucket of fried catfish. We also tried their spicy fried chicken which was really good as well and definitely seasoned right but our fried catfish stole the show. Next time, we'll try to fried shrimp! I would say that their sides could be just a tad bit bigger but we only had fries so I would be curious to try their other sides to see the flavor and taste (we'll keep y'all posted on that). Overall, love the concept as you can get Mediterranean food or Southern food so it's great for those who are a little indecisive like myself. Notos Southern Bites was decent. We came here on our way home, and had been meaning to check them out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The inside of this location is very clean and inviting. During my visit I got the catfish, and 10 pc shrimp. My family ordered tje chicken sandwich, and a bowl from the mediterranean side. I wasn't blown away by the catfish or the shrimp though they weren't bad. I've just had better. The breading was ind of think on the catfish, and reminded me of the tackle boxes I used to get from Danny's carryout in College Park. My wife enjoyed her bowl, and my son really liked the chicken sandwich. I have to say that the fried chicken here looks really good, and I'm pretty sure I will be back to try it. I'm always weary of places that boast a wide variety of food from different categories. Southern cuisine and mediterranean is just about as polar opposite as you can go. We had a similar concept in Waugh Chapel that came and went without making very much noise. These guys are just starting out though, and I don't want to put a bad spin on my experience here because it wasn't. I look forward to coming back once they get a little more time under their belt to work out the kinks. I am actually very confused how this place is rated so well. The bowl that I tried tasted like the ingredients had been sitting in the fridge for far too long. Kinda similar taste to freezer burn and since it was the sauce every bite was an overwhelming gross taste. Even if it did not have that bad sauce on it, Noto does not come close to its competition for Mediterranean bowls (cava, halal guys, mezeh, etc). I tried their fried chicken and fries too. This is below average, extremely forgettable food. We are halfway through 2023 and so far, this year this is the worst food I have had at a restaurant yet. I think they really need to find out what they want to specialize in and focus on improving that. read more

Think of this place as the fresh version of Cava! I loved my experience here and can't wait to come back and try the variety of items they have on the menu. From fried chicken, to Mediterranean food, and even seafood, I was kind impressed that a fast food restaurant offered this variety of options. I got a falafel pita wrap (which you can customize). First of all the employee who made my wrap was really that guy!! He offered suggestions to improve my wrap but didn't state them in a way that was demeaning. I loved how fresh the falafel and vegetables I had tasted. The only thing that would've made it even better was if they offered spicy toppings/sauces. My friend got a spicy fried chicken sandwich and her exact quote was "if you don't want to waste time in the line at chick-fil-A, just head over to notos." She did say that the spice was underwhelming however. The star of the show was the fries. I will say they would be better if they added seasoning vs just salt to them. I can see Notos being my new go to spot when I want something healthy. Still not sure about the southern food aspect of the restaurant but the Mediterranean part is pretty good. read more

The food looked appetizing, though the shrimp was under seasoned and slightly overcooked, I definitely ate them. I think you could taste the oil, like it was old or something. The fries were alright, but I would say the fries were the star of the show. They were crunchy fries and soft in the middle. My eyes could be playing games on me but the man who took my order was wearing bright blue disposable gloves and put my order on the computer with the gloves on, exchanged money, and prepared my food with the same gloves. I decided on a Mediterranean Bowl for myself and mac and cheese for my 3 year old. Since I had a 30-minute drive home, I asked for my sauce on the side. As I was walking towards my front door, seconds after taking the bag out of my car, my dinner spilled out of the bag and onto my sidewalk. I don't get to Laurel often, but I wanted to call and let them know what happened to prevent another customer from ending up in my situation. After sharing with the manager what happened, the first thing that she said was there isn't anything they can do about it. Of course, I shared my dissatisfaction. She spoke to someone else and then told me I needed to come back in tonight. Here it is, Sunday night at 9 pm, and she expected me to make a 30-minute drive back to the restaurant to rectify the situation. Mind you, I purchased my meal at 7 pm. I shared the challenge with my returning tonight and asked to speak with her supervisor. She stated that they were busy before hanging the phone up on me. Getting back to the restaurant would be difficult. H had the restaurant apologized and taken ownership for their error, I would have been satisfied even if I never cashed in on the offer. Came here after shopping at the total wine next door thinking that it would be a good chance to try out this new spot. The food seems okay but the service really needs an upgrade. both of the cashier seemed to have only a tenuous grasp on the english language. It took more than 5 minutes to ring up two people because they didn't seem to understand the POS system. the location is great and the concept is also okay but the service really made me unable to give anything more than 1 star.
