Went with family who have eaten here before, and it was my first time. Awesome first experience here. Ordered onion strings (that sauce is awesome). The bacon bloody mary is one of the tastiest I've ever had. Then we got the seafood platter for two. THOSE OYSTERS-- melt-in-your mouth goodness. After spending the last year going back and forth to Slidell from the New Orleans area, my husband and I finally had the opportunity to eat at this Slidell local favorite restaurant. After a short wait, we decided to eat at the bar. I normally don't like to sit at the bar because sometimes service can be slow. However, the bar service was excellent. We also enjoyed the conversation with our neighbors. My husband got the steak special with side salad and baked potato. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the side salad - not the typical iceberg lettuce. The steak was cooked and seasoned appropriately. The potato was great too. I ordered the chicken friend steak. It's one of my favorite cheat dishes. Raised in Texas, and now living in New Orleans, I don't see it on LA menus very often. It too was well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were creamy delicious. The steamed vegetables came in a healthy portion. We will definitely be back should time allow. I would recommend getting on the waitlist virtually through the Yelp app. read more

Went here for the first time today after seeing great reviews and was not disappointed! Service was fast and correct despite all of our special orders. Our 4 year old was given crayons and a color sheet. The atmosphere was very laid back and although boisterous was very pleasant and homie :). Will definitely go here again! This is one of our go-to restaurants. Great comfort food! I wish the chicken wings were better, I order them every time I go, and they're sub-par every single time. The dinner food was excellent and the price point was also reasonable. However, the buffalo shrimp was a little soggy in the sauce, but delivered a good flavor (atomic). We only had to wait 10 minutes on Fathers Day Sunday and it was during the evening rush. The service was a different matter, it took forever for drink and food orders. Our drinks ran empty on more than one occasion. If we lived in the area, I'm sure we would be back to try it again. read more

We actually went there twice during our vacation. Both times we had excellent service and food. Definitely the place to stop in Slidell.

We stopped here per a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. We were a big group and was easy to find seats and everyone loved their food. I ordered the shrimp and oyster basket and it was delicious; really big portion and you might want to save room for the cobbler or bread pudding. Shrimp po boy was nothing special. But ,I forget to order my shrimp fried well. My personal preference. Sweet Potato fries,good. Spinach/artichoke? ??dip? Great,but I can't recall seeing many if any chokes. The chips that go w are to die for!! OMG. SO GOOD,fried flour tortilla chips that they don't fry until totally hard. Purfect for this dip. Then I ordered a special frozen bushmills drink to take hm. Wowza,this was AWESOME,I think I got the xtra 151 on top. Only reason for not giving it a full 5 stars is because it was a little pricy just for po boys and an appetizer and a beer. $50 before tip and the po boys didn't even come with a side. My husband and I were visiting relatives and decided to stop here for dinner before returning home. We could not believe how good the roast beef Poboy was and the Mac and cheese was also pretty darn good. If you looking for a quiet place to have dinner this place is not for you. But if you looking for great food, price and service then you should give them a try. Our waiter Bobby was one of the best we have had in a long time. Every time he passed our table he made sure we had what we needed. He even prepared the to go order we had for traveling without having to be reminded like we had to do at other restaurants. I would give him a five star for not just doing his job but doing a great job and with a friendly smile the whole time helping all his customers. read more

In need of some comfort food after the devastating loss on Sunday, I found the spot. I thoroughly enjoyed my perfectly grilled chicken breast, baked macaroni and cheese and delicious mashed potatoes and gravy. Friendly hostess and waitress. A great find on our way from Florida to Austin TX, where our son owns a fresh seafood restaurant. I love local cuisine and avoid the typical franchises on the main roads. Southside was a great find, I had a yen for oysters and catfish, had both and they were really good. Service was excellent.Will return and have recommended Southside to our local friends. read more
