I'm not going to lie, I was a little intimidated by all the loiterers and security guards, but once inside I was surprised at how nice it was. I've never been to a true inner city Kroger before and damn, it's better than the one a mile down the street from my house (which is still considered inner city in Columbus). It sort of reminded me of a Market District. I was only there to grab a few snacks and drinks for my room and everything was really easy to find. While it was somewhat busy there, there were a ton of self check out kiosks so I was in and out in a jiffy. If I lived in downtown Cincy I could definitely see myself shopping here. There's even parking!

So any time I come up to the area I try somewhere that makes goetta. This was a nice neighborhood meat market that makes their own so i had to try it. It was pretty good. They do make it WITHOUT MSG, so if that stuff gives you a headache or if you have to watch your salt intake, they have an option for you! I bought a goetta, egg, and cheese sandwich and it was tasty. If I was nearby, I'd try it again. I also took a few pounds home and cooked it over the next week. Now, back to my search for goetta and on to the next butcher shop! ;)

But I never considered shopping at Aldi. I incorrectly perceived them to be one big generic store. My husband began working for a company with an Aldi close by. He'd stop in and grab little things at first... right around the time we really began reading labels on our food. He mentioned to me that many of their items contain minimal ingredients and often times the high fructose corn syrup that is in national brands isn't present in items at Aldi's. He got my attention with those revelations. I began visiting my local Aldi and there are several items I LOVE!! I won't list them, but I encourage you to find your own. I will admit that it's sometimes a nuisance to bring your own bags but we have to start being kinder to the earth anyway so it's a welcomed inconvenience... and you save a ton of money. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did.

It's not the first time I had bad experience with the Kroger's customer service desk. I bought a…read morebottle of Kroger brand heavy cream this Monday evening. I spent hours and made a birthday cake with the cream for my husband that evening and then found out the heavy cream had bitter taste and ruined the whole cake and the special family night! I went to return the heavy cream, explained the issue and suggested them to check the shelf to make sure nobody else will experience the same issue. Obviously they did not care, and did not apologize... They always had bad response for returns even it was absolutely not the customer's fault! Do customer deserve more than just getting the several bucks' refund? What about all the time and efforts and more caused by your bad products? Not a sorry, not a good face...?

Prices are a little higher than the grocery store, but on par for a downtown market! Will definitely go here again if we need to grab something quickly. This place has the most groceries that I have found downtown besides walking over to the Kroger on Walnut.
