Decided to go here as Russo's was closed. I needed oysters to make oyster Rockefeller, well I bought 5 lbs. Today, 11/18/25, I went to go cook them and out of 15 oysters only 6 popped and are able to be eaten. What a waste of money and time cleaning. Won't be going back to them for oysters again. read more

The low country boil has small shrimp and wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. I have never gone wrong with the fish and taking it home to prepare on my own. We ordered over $140 worth of food for an intimate vow renewal this past weekend. There were a few problems that I feel all could have been avoided. Problem #1 in their website upon clicking Order Now you are directed to a website to place an order. I follow this and completed my order like I would with Amazon Domino's any other online ordering site. after ordering I called the restaurant to ask them to postpone my order for an hour and a half I was at that time told that they did not have a website that they went through besides UberEats and Waitr. very much puzzled I quickly got off the phone and canceled my PayPal order through their website then I double checked and triple checked the website and sure enough it continued to come up. With that problem aside I blew it off and ordered through the Waitr App. The next issue that occurred is that the young man working the restaurant was a little clueless on questions that I had such as their website and how to get in touch with his management. I would like to add that the food was delicious with no problem to note. that brings me to my third complaint we ordered six Lowcountry Boils which normally come with crab knowing my family I ordered two things of extra shrimp totaling $40 when the food arrived after my husband picked it up and we open the containers I promptly noticed that there was no crab. after calling the location I was told that they were out of crab so they went ahead and added more shrimp if you know above I had already ordered more shrimp for my family so the extra shrimp they added was not needed. this would've been great to know upon picking up the order and calling to check on the order as I could have canceled the extra cost since they were adding extra shrimp without my knowledge to shorten this up I called the restaurant to ask and the young man that I had talk to previously in the morning offered to take five dollars off of my whole check please know that I had ordered six low country boil's he told me that each blue crab is $2.75 if you know $2.75 times six is not five dollars. I know that this review is long but I feel like as a customer if a business is out of something a simple courtesy call would have been great and it could have save me the unnecessary cost. read more

We stopped in during a trip to Savannah in late June. Since we were on vacation, we opted to have our meals prepared. The crab legs were steamed perfectly and were served in a bag with melted butter and seasonings. While messy, my husband raved about them for days - even going so far as to replicate it at home. The others in our party ordered fish and shrimp platters that were equally as good. The young lady at the counter was very friendly but the guy that kept hovering over her actually seemed to slow down service. Overall, Southside Seafood has great prices and excellent food. First seafood place I've ever been to that doesn't smell like a seafood place! Impeccably clean inside, freshest seafood of all description, and incredibly low/fair pricing. I was in the area and looking for some seafood or fish I could devour pretty quick without having to go to a Captain D's or similar...this place is pretty good...it's a little building hidden behind an intersection...the seafood is fresh, though they can be a bit pricey, I would say it was worth it...I had fried Oysters cooked to order and they were fantastic...I also had the spicy conch which I thought was going to be fried but that was ok...I worked with it anyway....and added a Mistic drink to wash it down...all came to about $15...there is no place to sit and eat so everything is to go..customer service was great & the place was clean & well ran. read more

And they cook their fried seafood at the right temperature to avoid it being oily. The breading is light and crispy. This time we tried a side order of their sausage which was excellent. I cannot trust the food from this place. I purchased some fresh fish from this location, it was already pre-packaged in baggies, I took the fish home open the bag and it smelled as if I only had moments before it goes into the garbage and that is where it went, the store was closing and the following day was Sunday. I will never return to this place to purchase anything because if their fresh fish is foul, they are frying that old fish and as serving fresh fried fish. Good luck read more

Let me tell y'all ! The man in this place is not slick . My first time coming and I seen the price for snow crab per pound was 12.99 and that's fine but when I'm leaving it came up to $19 . The man said he gave me more than a pound and I was okay with that cause I didn't mind paying for more food .. as long as I'm getting it but when I got home I had 2 cluster and one extra empty leg and I call to ask by I just payed so much for 2 clusters and he said it's 13.99 per pound plus tax .... but I literally just left from seeing the price in the store read more

I tried this place for the first time last week and was very impressed. The prices were considerably low and reasonable considering the great quality of the seafood we purchased. It makes me sad to say this, when we moved here last year Southside had incredible seafood to go at amazing prices. The prices are still really good but the quality is slipping. What used to be large shrimp the size of a babies fist now look like shrunken pretenders. Their calamari although still quite tasty is about half the size of a previous order. This seafood market has the best seafood in Savannah. They have the best food and service! You can get fresh seafood and cook it at home or you can order food there, which is great for those times when you just don't feel like cooking. The low country boil is fantastic and you cant any fried or boiled seafood you want. Also, they have fresh oysters in party packs and blue crabs. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. Never again - three strikes and you are out. I live less than 5 minutes from this place and love seafood. Strike one - you can't buy the amount of fish you want. You have to take what they have thawing from frozen and wrapped in plastic. Got a huge, fatty, nasty piece of salmon. OK, go to Publix to buy salmon. Strike two - breading on scallops is so thick and oily that it had to be removed to eat the scallops. Strike three - after telling them twice no butter and no seasoning on the crab legs I ended up with more butter than crab. I had to take it back. read more
