We appreciate that they have many options for flying into and out of Memphis on Southwest Airlines. This review is for the excellent gate agent experience that we received from Rebecca at Southwest Gate 5 on Sunday 6/28/26 at approximately 4p. Rebecca was on a break and the gate agent that was covering her break did not know fully how to handle passenger requests and transactions. The other gate agent indicated that we would be able to be assisted with things once Rebecca returns from her break. Many of us got out of line and waited until we saw a female gate agent come to the gate counter. We all assumed that this was "Rebecca". We are so grateful that it was Rebecca. She took care of a customer family who had a stroller and car seat with their babies within 2 mins. She also helped us change our seating assignments as Southwest Card Holders, within 1 minute. She then kept helping others behind us in line and she is awesome. Rebecca at Memphis Intl Airport Southwest Terminal is an excellent employee. She had wonderful customer service, great and efficient transactions, and is very very reliable to passengers. Please recognize and appreciate Rebecca! read more

The good is the agents and the folks who take care of personal medical equipment (wheelchairs, scooters). The BAD...their new seating policy! What a mess and really a "rip-off". We were 40 mins late leaving SA due to boarding issues(oversized baggage that passengers were determined to fit in overhead compartments and helping a paralyzed individual, which due to the new seating policy the crew finally figured out that if she was in the aisle seat and could not get up to let the window and middle passengers in they needed to get those passengers on board‍). Why don't they have a section in their SOP for issues as such and why don't they have a box at the ticket area and/or gate area to make passengers use it to make sure the carry on luggage will fit???? So simple of a concept. Now we are leaving Memphis and again late due to carry-on luggage. Running 15+ mins late now. read more

I never leave reviews, but SWA new seating policy is terrible get to pick your own seat what a joke. that only apples if you pay for a premium seat when you book your fare. if you pay for a basic ticket, you are assigned a seat at the back of the bus. You are supposed to be able to choose a seat when you check in 24 hrs before your flight. I clicked that button the exactly 24 hrs ahead of time and our seats were already chosen for us. parents and kids all split up. supposedly you could go on and change your seats but none were available had to pay to get our daughter a seat in the same row opposite side of the acft. :( Alegiant is looking better and better. read more

4 hours to report damaged bags. We flew into Memphis on a Thursday night. There were no Southwest employees in baggage area. When I retrieved my bag there was a 4 inch gash that penetrated the luggage. This luggage had been used 1 other time. I sent my receipt and pictures of luggage to SW. They reiterated their 4 hour damage policy. I was offered a $50.00 voucher to use on another trip. I am not sure I will be able to use it. Bottom line, report your damaged luggage at airport within 4 hours. How you do that in short time period after traveling all day and finding a southwest person I am not sure. I guess they thought I took an ax to my brand new luggage. read more

"Southwest Airlines" ~ the Definition of FRIENDLY As I approached a Kiosk, Miguel gestured to me, efficiently checked my suitcase, printed my Boarding Pass, & I was off to the Gate. Two Southwest Airlines Pilots walked beside me as I approached the people mover, looked @ me, nodded, said "Good Morning" before I had a chance to. The Boarding process is as fair & orderly as any I've seen. No confusion over Seat Assignments. There was room to stow my carryon overhead, though some passengers' "carryons" should definitely have been checked. Flight Attendants were helpful with arranging them to fit the spaces. Another quiet comfortable on-time Flight home. read more

Southwest is the first door approaching the airport. Southwest counter is close to door. Stations to print tickets at counter. Walk right up and check bag. Pleasant employee. Omg, seriously, two planes with mechanical failure. And the new departure time is 3:15? Well that is ten minutes after my connecting flight leaves. Need more employees to rebook the two plane loads of people. I called and stood in line, got the phone rep first. They kind of stand there like brick walls and mouth the words they are sorry, without one ounce of sincerity. Add a couple zeros on the complimentary voucher and I might be impressed and not feel like I just wasted my day and half the night too. read more

The worst ticket agent waiting time 4am, the long lines for a 5:40 Memphis TN to Chicago mdw. It is horrible in comparison the 4 agents serving American Airlines customers next to us. Zero agents at southwest Airlines counter. So I call the 1800 I fly swa. I speak to Virginia and she had to call to get someone. 4:05am... someone appears unhappy, walks away, then returns. Always a delay! Constantly missing connecting flights. Save yourself the hassle and fly a different airline.

I don't fly often but when I do it's with Southwest. I am always pleased with the service provided and anyone I come into contact with is always helpful. My last flight was with my sister. She is always late, like really late. Well this particular flight she was so late we almost took off without her. I asked the flight attendant if she could call out to the gate to see is she was there. Well I get a call from my sister, out of breath saying " they just paged me, tell them I'm coming" I'm like um sure, but I doubt they hold an entire plan for you! Anyway, she made it just by the skin of her teeth, come to find out she's known by the gate attendant and he knew right away when the flight attendant called out who she was! Apparently she's always late for her flights! I was so embarrassed. We made it safe and sound, I thanked the pilot for waiting just a few seconds longer as well as the flight attendant for calling out and paging her. They were all glad she made the flight and we made it to our destination on time! Me on the other hand needed something to calm my nerves after thinking she would have to make other arrangements and it was a connecting flight!!! Southwest THANK YOU!!!!! read more

Wish I could give negative stars to this company. Absolutely atrocious! Do they have two left feet or something? Constantly tripping over their own poo poo. Nothing wrong with the employees. I had no issues with them, they were just trying their best to help hundreds of upset customers. They are just victims of the capitalist society that rules our lives. The company is the issue. First flight got delayed then delayed and delayed delayed delayed until it was cancelled about an hour after we were supposed to depart. They automatically rescheduled us for a flight at 4pm THE NEXT DAY. No hotel room offer or anything. Just wanted to throw us out into the street. After we waited in line for two hours to talk to someone, the kind lady at the desk helped us to get a different flight, but three hours away from our original destination. This flight was five hours after our original flight time, but we were fine with it because we just wanted to get out of the airport. But guess what! DELAYED! Again again and again. Three hour delay. We were told our luggage would meet us there, but once we arrived, we were told that our luggage was already at our destination, but not at the airport we just flew to. How did our luggage get to fly but we couldn't? Idk seems suspicious. My elderly grandmother has her medication in her luggage and we won't be able to get it until tomorrow. How would you feel if that were your loved one? And now southwest is trying to blame all these delays on the weather to try to scam us out of getting our money back?? Clear skies, sunny, and 70 is realllll cause for concern i guess? Lord help us all! Moral of the story, i could do better at running this dumpster fire of a company and i can't even spell restaurant without having to look it up. read more

If I could I would give Southwest Airlines a negative 3 rating. The flight number was 5726 and the confirmation number was 4XVS7U. I've flown Southwest Airlines before over the years and I have to say this year around Thanksgiving was my worst experience to date. First off my flight from Memphis to Houston was delayed a few times then rebooked due to mechanical issues. The female gate clerk assured me that the voucher she gave me for the hotel in Dallas wasn't going to cost me. That was not true. The next morning when I checked out I had to pay for the room. I also was told by the female clerk in the Memphis airport (Southwest Airlines) that I would be reimbursed for my transportation to and from the hotel in Dallas. It has been one month since my flight and after two other attempts to get reimbursed I haven't been reimbursed at all for anything. I never agreed to wanting to fly to Dallas Texas to stay overnight at my expense because Southwest Airlines didn't have a connecting flight. I could have stayed in Memphis. I've received three responses to the extent stating, "Thank you for contacting us. We are forwarding your email to our Customer Relations Department for further review, and we'll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible. All together I received a total of three "No-Reply" messages from Southwest Airlines they still haven't resolved my request for my reimbursement. On top of all that my luggage was damaged. I have been compensated for my damaged luggage. The way I have been treated is totally unacceptable. I feel as though my time and money was stolen from me. Worst flying experience ever. Run away from Southwest Airlines. They last week checked my "Free" luggage, including my golf equipment. Upon return at 2am on a Tuesday morning, I went to play the next weekend. I took my clubs out of the travel case and the driver was snapped. I contacted Southwest, and they said that I had four hours from arrival to turn in my complaint. So I was supposed to have checked my golf bag between 2 and 6 am, and somehow figure out how to contact Southwest during that time. Makes a lot of sense. I fly quite a bit, but never again with Southwest, a company who cannot take responsibility for throwing my clubs somewhere total upside down. read more

Trebette in customer service is the single worst human i have ever encountered in a professional environment. I cannot even believe the level of unprofessionalism from this person. Refusing the business of a decades old account because she doesnt want to do her job, straight up telling a customer that helping them isn't her problem or what she is paid to do, shes simply paid to be a body in the building and not complete any actual tasks so she doesnt care how the transaction goes. Lying about account status and the weights of packages so she could turn away business. This is not a person i would want in an environment with any level of responsibility, guaranteed to cost more than can be gained from them as an employee. I havent even touched on how rude and inconsiderate this human was either. Hugely dissatisfied, and i have shipped dozens of boxes through southwest on a weekly basis over 20 years. I think as a result of this interaction it is time to reconsider my other options. read more

They lost my bags and when I got them, my guitar had been damaged even inside a padded case. I have flown with my guitar many times before and checked it WITHOUT A CASE, so apparently they thought they could handle it like a football since there was a quarter inch of padding now. read more

Just checked in had to pay 75 dollars for my bag that was two pounds over but yet I could have had 2 bags that were 50 lbs a piece for free. The lady that "assisted" me was incredibly rude. I thought Southwest Airlines was the greatest way to fly a few years ago but now I have to reevaluate that opinion. The one area they have improved on is to teach their employees to apologize and say they will report your concerns (but nothing is done) They slowly remove little conveniences and act like they didn't know how it happened. They sell priority boarding and while they tell their Frequent Flyers (A-List) that they give A-List priority status , it is not uncommon to see the more advantageous positions sold off . So I guess you could now view it as a priority on standby . I recently made a reservation with SWA as I was contemplating a change of itinerary . When I went to cancel the other flight , I discovered they had cancelled my new reservation without notification because they saw the conflict. In general they have become a BIG AIRLINE with BIG AIRLINE attitudes . . They do have the Business Select Category which is like first class (without the bigger seats or enhanced privacy). They also have a special line for AList which used to be a menu option but now for your convenience (sarcasm) they have it on a separate number which is not even listed on the AList card.. read more

Southwest for customer service is #1, out shines them ALL. . Due to there continued wonderful service i also check flights with Southwest First. I would like to give an A+ rating to a wonderful lady name KAREN. She was at the SOUTHWEST ticket desk one evening when my son and i came to pick up our tickets early. i had run into a health problem two nights before , that lead to an ER visit, where i was told not to fly. i thought it was too late to get a refund, so i didn't even check on it. During normal conversation with Karen, i was joking about being left behind, which lead to this wonderful results. After talking with her, she was able to get me a refund on my ticket....didn't even ask, she offer to help. You don't get that kind of service like that much anymore. Thank you again Karen. i'm sorry i didn't get her last name. It was in Memphis on the evening on August 8th, 2018. She was a Blonde. Thank you again, will get another Southwest flight soon. read more
