So I'm actually sending good will and gratitude to Michael and Roxanne who were answering customer service phone calls tonight on March 23, 2026 between 9 and 10 p.m. PST at 1-800-435-9792. It's unconventional I know and I'm writing it using the Ontario airport site (my favorite airport), just because I don't know how else to thank them. Long story short, I booked a return flight from Cincinnati to Ontario in June for my husband who is visiting a friend that month. 1. Thanks to Michael who helped us get assigned seating for both legs of his return flight (for a fee). My husband then needed the app on his phone to keep track of any flight or gate changes on that future date. The app and Southwest website kept stating that he already had a rewards account and could not create a new one. The problem was that he couldn't remember the username or password from over 10 years ago when he last flew Southwest. (Rapid Rewards also changed account numbers since then because I knew my account name and password but they don't work either). 2. Thank you to Roxanne who answered the second time we called the 1-800 number and not only gave us the account number but also a link to reset the password. She then linked the future trip to his account so it would appear on the app when he logged in!!! Once again, humans triumph over the frustrations of technology. Thank you, Michael and Roxanne. IF I COULD PUT 0 STARS I WOULD!! I travel with my own pillow and blanket on every trip. Since I rarely fly Southwest, I didn't know they would count as two separate carryon items. When the gate agent told me I needed to check them, I complied and went back to have my boarding pass updated. Instead of speaking respectfully, he pointed to the floor and told me to put my pillow there. I replied that there was no need to be rude and that a simple "please" would have been appropriate. After I did exactly as instructed, another employee approached to pick up my pillow, but the gate agent stopped him, saying, "Don't worry about it. He's not getting on the flight." He then got inches from my face, balled up his fist in a way that made me believe he was about to hit me, and told me I wasn't getting on the plane. Feeling threatened, I activated the recording feature on my Meta Glasses to document the encounter. as I was going to enter the door for my plane when Erik Edwards so rudely shut the door in my face and said " looks like the Doors closed, get in " as he just closed the door and told me to see the front desk once I get to the front desk he continues to let others bored but not me. When I told a manager they said they didn't want to see the video that I recorded with my meta ai glasses showing how he treated me and completely dismissed how I was treated. DO BETTER . If ERIK EDWARDS is going to be treating customers like that without reason he shouldn't be working for an airline. Along with mangers that cant do their job or care for customers. read more

I've flown with Southwest for years and they've been with me through every season of life. When I first left Cleveland with two suitcases and a one way ticket, leaving my family behind while they cried, I tried not to cry too. I met strangers on planes, drank some Jack Daniels, and kept going. Since then, I've flown them for everything through snow, rain, sun, morning or night. They've always been consistent, fair, and friendly. I love how easy it is to travel with them, no drama, just smooth flying. The flight attendants have heart, and that really shows. I've even flown with my dog and my guitar and had no issues at all. They've gone out of their way to accommodate me before if something went wrong, without me even having to ask. I'll be updating this review after my trip at the end of November. We purchased their top tier package this time, the one that includes early boarding, bags, and a drink. Typically I always pay for early bird. I know Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and sometimes Saturdays are the best times to book a ticket, and at this point I've just about memorized the gates. I love the free Wi-Fi and how easy it is to track flight time. For now, I'll just say this: if an airline can make you feel at home in the middle of the sky, it's Southwest. read more

This is probably the second time I've flown Southwest out of Ontario Airport, and funny enough, both times the flights were delayed. But big props to Southwest for still getting me to my destination, even during the government shutdown. Originally, our flight was supposed to leave at 6 am with a stop in Dallas and then finally arrive in Savannah around 3 pm. We ended up taking off around 9 am with a long layover in Nashville, and finally landed around 11:30 pm or later. It was a bit inconvenient because we lost a whole day, plus Avis (check out my review for them) had no cars available when we arrived -- major bummer. That said, I do enjoy Southwest's pretzels and Oreos, and the flight attendants were super kind and friendly. Despite the delays, they made the flight a bit more bearable. read more

First time flying to Phoenix Arizona. We chose Southwest because it's the only airline that flies to Phoenix from Ontario California. We didn't want to drive to LAX so Southwest will have to do. The entire experience was much better than I expected. From checking in bags to boarding and flying, everything was pretty smooth. Everybody was friendly and pleasant enough. The beverage menu was decent and I liked my hard seltzer. Overall the short flights were not bad even though I am not a fan of flying! read more

I have $447.36 in travel funds from a cancelled trip. Weekend ago I attempted to use my travel funds to book a trip. Because the flight was 1week after the expiration date I could not use my travel funds! I was instructed to call back the day the funds expire, for a 3month extension. did that and was told I could not do it until the next day!. Did that. I was issued a voucher, tried to use it and it would not let me use all of my money! Only covered the base fare and no one seems to be able to explain WHY! Only saying , it's policy!Why is Southwest holding my money hostage and dictating how I use it! Very frustrated and very pissed! FLIER beware, don't cancel a trip because this is what could happen. Over the last 2+ decades, I have flown with Southwest (SW) the most out of all the other airlines. I used to have their credit card, too, but I cancelled it due to downsizing my credit cards stack LOL. I think I am still under their rewards program though. Anyway, what I like about SW is that they allow 2 bags to fly for free. What a perk! Also their complimentary drink and snack is nice, too, even for a short flight. Staff is usually friendly and pleasant. I haven't encountered any crew member with poor behavior. Thank you SW! My experience with their boarding and in flight crew was great from Ontario to San Jose. It was a short flight so wasn't too bad. Got my ginger ale with no rocks, but should have gotten some rocks as it tastes better when it's cold. And the snack bag with pretzels and crackers... yep, no more peanuts which was removed almost 5 years ago... wow, how time flies! Landing was wonderful and smooth. It felt like we just glided effortlessly on the runway... didn't feel a thing! We arrived some minutes early, too. Well done Captain... well done... thank you! Oh southwest. How far you've fallen. Loyal customer for over 20 years. But corporate decided that in addition to high fares they're gonna charge more than other airlines for bags. And even though there's a completely empty row behind me I can't move one row back because of "assigned seating". Right.... Oh my goodness! This airline is bottom of the barrel as far as airlines go. The flight attendants are rude, the one on the speaker for our flight from Vegas to Ontario could not communicate properly! She mumbled into the intercom throughout the flight. No one understood what she was saying both because she had a very heavy accent but also because she mumbled and spoke in grunts instead of complete sentences. Upon arrival, after the plane made a hard landing on the runway, she simply stated the obvious, we're here! Arrived on time to board my plane. However, the plane decided to pull away from boarding gate and departed. The gate agent had no explanation. She knew the plane departed prematurely ahead of scheduled departure. She hurriedly booked me on another plane departing 1 1/2 later. 45 min later I was notified that that plane has 1hr 30 min delay. Later on I was notified again of a another delay for 1 hour. I was totally frustrated. I requested a refund and was promised to received one. if you pay for an upgrade and get a drink ticket, it's almost like buying a scratch ticket, there's no guarantee you will get your two dollars back. They had some turbulence on the flight between Austin and New Orleans and they served absolutely no drinks. Mind you, turbulence was only part of the flight, but I get prioritizing safety. The problem is they never volunteered to give vouchers and when I asked at the counter (which I shouldn't even have had to )for a voucher for my next flight, they said they didn't do that and I would have to call. read more

My friends pester me about flying directly into Palm Springs Airport (because, of course, it's in their best interest if I'm getting a car), but it's not in MY best interest if I can use Rapid Reward points to catch a free flight. I had an absolutely amazing experience with the Southwest airline crew on Friday! My flight to Vegas was delayed due to bad weather so they let people get off the plane if they chose to. I chose to stay on the plane but move to a closer seat. One of the flight attendants Dave let me take a selfie standing in front of the cockpit, then let me sit in the pilot's seat and he took a pic of me and the copilot! The crew gave us refreshments and Dave even got us donut holes to snack on! This was an unexpected turn turned good and so much fun! Kudos to Dave and the rest of the flight crew! You guys all worked together to really make us passengers feel better about the unfortunate circumstances we were hit with. Thank you so much again! read more

I fly Southwest airlines often and have been a dedicated customer with them for years. They were my airline for all domestic travel. Unfortunately, I am going to have to discontinue using this airline. I've flown three times in the last year with multiple hours of delays due to maintenance issues with their planes. The attitude with which the airline treats its customers is one where they seem to not just want to deal with you. I called customer service and asked to speak to a representative about the frequent delays in my flights. Unfortunately, they don't allow you to speak to a customer service rep about complaints. That to me shows a complete disregard for the customer. I will do everything in my power to not use this airline for domestic flights. I would advise you, the customers, to do the same until they take your patronage seriously. read more

Damn, there sure are a lot of horror stories posted here; or maybe some are from people "suffering" from 1st World Problems Syndrome. Knock on wood, but I have never had an issue flying Southwest with the exception of a 40 minute delay due to some hacker POS disrupting the flight schedules on 04/18/2023. Not that big of a deal and the pilot seemed to make up for it in flight, as we only landed back in Ontario 10 minutes later than initially scheduled. I have flown Southwest 9 out of 10 times in the past 20 years. I like flying Southwest because there are no add-ons for things like luggage and seating assignments. You get two, TWO, free bags to check in AND you can take a carry-on if you have that much stuff "needing" transported to your destination. It is first come first served when comes to seating, though. That may turn some people off, but I just try to make sure I get on some time in the middle of the pack. IF you have young children, toddlers or infants you get to board before 'B' passes get to. This can frustrate some passengers (it never did me unless it was a herd of 10+ "family members" snaking ahead of the line). I never used this perk until this last flight when I had a 3.5 year old toddler going on a long weekend adventure with her papa. It was nice, I will admit - thank you. The staff at the counters and in the planes have always been amicable and helpful. Once in awhile you may get an ass manning the gate counter, but it's been an anomaly for me. They served drinks and snacks on both legs of the trip to Seattle. Bring your own food if you think you'll be hungry though. If I have any complaints to make it has to do with the tight ass seats and the ridiculously small restrooms. You are screwed if you are a "large" person with both of these issues; and you are screwed if you are seated already and that "large" person squeezes into the vacant seat next to you (if applicable). Try assisting a toddler in the restroom to go potty, or changing a diaper/pull-up on one. It is almost impossible, but not. read more

We got to Denver Airport way early for flight to San Diego. There was Southwest flight leaving 2 hours before our scheduled flight, so naturally wanted to see about changing to the earlier flight. Southwest rep at the ticket desk checked his computer and said looks good, there are 10 standby seats and my GF and I would be number 7 and 8. He check our bag for the earlier flight and printed our standby paperwork. But when we check in at the gate, the rep named Lina or Lisa or something similar (short, middle-aged brunette if SW cares) said absolutely we cannot fly standby on that flight--because we bought our ticket through Expedia. I responded that the SW rep had already told us there were plenty of standby seats and had already checked our bag onto the flight. She didn't care. She also claimed that SW could be "fined" if she let us on the flight. I continued to press but she wasn't having it. Finally, I stated that it might be better customer service to allow us on the standby list on a flight that already had a luggage rather than enforcing some dubious claim about an Expedia ticket purchase. Nope, no go. She could have said "let's see if there's still room on the flight for you when we board"--and gotten 2 happy travelers. Instead, she got a crappy review for the airline. On this particular trip I had to fly with frontier on our way to Denver and it was horrible. On our way back I was able to get tickets with Southwest and the atmosphere and quality of customer service is just so much better. I love flying with them. read more

The airline lost my luggage. I don't check in my carry-on because of fear that SW will lose it; however, there's no more space in the cabin so it was checked in by force. I had several layovers from ONT to Sacramento to Washington to Denver to Boston. I don't know where my luggage went. I even repeated thrice to the staff to ensure that it would arrive in Boston, not somewhere else. The staff did say he would make sure. When I arrived in Boston, the customer service informed me that the staff scanned the wrong thing. SW did not start right this morning when the front desk confused my boarding gate. I verified my boarding gate because the screen says "Austin" but I'm going to Denver to Boston. I was told to go to Gate 405 instead of Gate 407. In Gate 405, I was told that I was Gate 407. SW staff was confused already with the boarding gate, and much more about the luggage situation. How come? I personally like SW, but this time, their service was poor. In Boston customer service, i was instructed to buy my clothes instead. Where can i buy clothes at 12 midnight? Thank you SW that I will be wearing my running shoes and sweatpants for my 9 am work today! Imagine how i wore those clothes from 4 am in CA and until the following day in Boston? The worst part was I will going to miss my Hypothyroid meds in the morning, and other medications for hormone issues. My sleep medication was also in that luggage. That means I's sleepless today. You see Im still awake at 5:12 am anxious about my luggage, what to wear to work, and the effect of missing my medications. Some things are cannot be bought in a blink. Those are prescription Rx. The customer service at Boston was in a hurry to leave because it was already 12 midnight. Cannot they be more caring enough to think that I'm not a local of Boston and i still need to pick up my Rental car and find my hotel., They are from Boston.. They could have care more about a helpless passenger who traveled all the way from CA. I have room for errors, but this could have been prevented if staff are more careful. Our original flight was booked for 3:00pm. Only 2 hour prior we were notified that the flight was changed. We could have done something for the day if we knew of the change earlier. If it wasn't annoying enough that the flight was changed, I had to board the plane last, we're on the other flight we were boarding in the "A".
