Tampa international Airport is the perfect prototype for transportation. From the time you enter the door and go to the ticket counter to get your bag tags to the time you step on the plane, you get the best of service. As a mobility challenged person it is not easy to go from city to city. Southwest airlines handicap assistance has been the best that I have encountered this summer at this location. I had no issues I was taken through TSA and to my gate with care. The attendant had conversation with me and even ask me did I need to visit the restroom before he took me to the gate. The TSA agents were very careful when handling me. They took it to consideration my needs and accommodated me as best as possible. This Airport has a simple layout and it is easy to get to the gates. It's just a pleasant experience all the way around.

The incredible Alex A. of Southwest's baggage check.

I am a loyal customer of southwest and have been for 21 years. Having more than 90% my flights being on SW planes. Alex A. Employee #e153792 was an absolute godsend when I was a moron and left my phone, AirPod, keys & passport. She went out of her way to get them, twice, because I was an idiot and forgot about my keys being with them, so when she got back, I mentioned it and she had to go back... ‍ I absolutely give her the most props possible and am so grateful that you have someone staffed who holds such a high level priority for her customers priority. She is absolutely incredible.

On our flight (#3405) from Tampa to Dallas (#136) to final destination...El Paso, my wife's electric wheelchair was damaged. The first thing we noticed was the rear safety wheel was missing. Secondly a bolt holding the the rear back support was missing and the rear handle was just dangling. Additionally one of the rear wheels was damaged, causing it to overheat and abruptly cease causing the chair to just go in circles. Upon getting our luggage, I saw that my duffle bag was ripped. I was offered a $50 travel credit. To which I declined. We were directed to make a claim which we proceeded to so. At the claim center the two clerks did not know how to deal with someone under great anxiety. They became rude towards my wife and even threatened to call medical. They made the claim with GRG and said a technician would get ahold of us. A rep from from GRG finally called an hour later stating there was not a tech available until Monday. Mind you, this was Saturday. So we spent the next 5 days very frustrated using a damaged wheelchair. Having to "rig" the broken backrest and, putting into manuel mode when the motor heated up. We canceled several outings and had to have family visit us at the hotel. My wife cried every night and i was helpless. We are still dealing with GRG amd Sarah has been very helpful. I'm certain the chair is going to need replacing as it'll never be the same. On our return flight (#1384) from El Paso to Chicago to Tampa (#1634) the experience started out good...with Gina at the Southwest counter being helful and kind to my wife. It was on flight #1643 that things went horribly south. We sat in row 4, paid for business class...giving us early boarding and one free drink each on each flight. The stewardess started to take orders and when she got to us, we order our two alcoholic beverages and two coffees. After ordering the coffees the stewardess rudely said that she has 40 other passengers to serve...which was no bigger. My wife stated 'we're going to end up being forgotten" which at that point flipped a switch in this seemingly overworked person that blurted out "fine, I'll go ahead and serve you first, she then snatched the vouchers from my hand and stormed off to the front cabin and proceeded to bring the ingredients to make the drinks. She brought an unopened can of coke and unopened can of bloody Mary mix, a miniature of jack Daniel's and miniature vodka, two cups of ice, and two coffee with one creamer each. Well, by that time we were no longer interested and felt so belittled and that we were no bodies and more of a burden for her. So the drinks sat UNTOUCHED for about 30 minutes after everyone was served. As they sat, I got up to use the restroom and ask her if she would kindly remove them which to she rudely WHY...I told we were no longer interested. I then asked for her name, which she replied Shelley, with with an "ey". My first thought was that this wasn't her first encounter. While I was in the restroom she took her bag to get amd trash the drinks....had a few words with my wife. When I sat down my wife was crying and cried the rest of the way home. I believe Shelly with "ey" needes a good coaching, more training and some time off. This was the biggest waste of money and caused so much anxiety to my wife that she is still hurt and saddened at he while ordeal. I would like someone from Southwest to contact me as I don't have the energy myself to continue posting this everywhere I can. None of our expectations were met and our time away was spent in frustration for at least 90 percent of the time.

The ticket counters are spread out by airlines. We were on United so we found their counter. They are all kisoks for checking into your flight. I didn't realize it until I needed to go to the next tram station that the QR code didn't print out on my boarding pass and my husband's boarding pass didn't print out at all so he had to use his phone as his boarding pass. Few glitches in their kisok system. I don't recommend the Kisok, but I don't think you have a choice. Just come with a lot of time and patience to make sure the kisok gets it right and if not hopefully you'll find someone to help walk you thought the process. And double check that your boarding pass has the QR code on it. At the gate I was able to have the ticket agent print out another boarding pass for me so I could board. Other good news. Due to it was a full flight they offered to check our carry-on baggage for free. That made it easier on our next layover, we didn't have to carry around and keep track of our luggage as we waited for our next flight. Boarding went smooth. We were in group 4, but due to we had our luggage checked we went after group 2 so we could carry our luggage down the ramp and place it by the door so they could load it up. Even though it was a pretty smooth experience I only gave it 3 star due to the ticketing issues. I beeped at the gate to the tram, because my husband showed the system my boarding pass, but it didn't register, but they still let me though the gate. I was blessed that they printed me out a new boarding pass so I could board on my own without having my husband fiddle with his phone to get both of our boarding passes digitally.

Tampa International Airport consistently demonstrates an exceptional level of operational proficiency. The architectural layout and passenger flow are remarkably intuitive, making the process of flying in and out genuinely simple and fast. When traveling with my husband and children, mitigating transit friction is paramount, and this facility fundamentally eliminates the typical stressors associated with modern air travel. Beyond their logistical prowess, I must commend their digital marketing strategy. Their social media postings are, quite frankly, hilarious. It is rare to see a transportation entity execute such a witty, engaging, and culturally resonant online brand. It reflects a high degree of organizational intelligence and a keen understanding of modern consumer engagement. Tampa International sets the premier standard for how an airport should operate, seamlessly merging frictionless travel with brilliant public relations. I honestly couldn't remember whether I had been through this airport before, but if I had, I certainly didn't remember it being this large. The layout took a little getting used to, especially with the tram ride to and from the rental car area, but everything was somewhat clearly marked and easy to navigate. The giant flamingo sculpture in the middle of the airport was impossible to miss and quickly became a favorite landmark for the kids. It's one of those unexpected touches that gives an airport a little personality. We also flew out of Tampa at the end of our trip, and the departure experience was smooth and stress-free. That's about the highest compliment I can give an airport when traveling with children. One minor downside: the Starbucks in our terminal was already sold out of quite a few food items and it wasn't even midday yet. Fortunately, we were able to grab sandwiches from Potbelly, which worked out just fine. Overall, Tampa International was clean, efficient, and much easier to navigate than many airports of a similar size. We'd be happy to fly through here again.

Breeze might be my favorite new airline... if only it went to more airports and abroad!!…read more Leaving Tampa sucks only when I'm staying in the U.S., but the blow isn't as bad knowing TPA is the best airport of its kind and now there's an option to fly with Breeze. I've always wanted to fly breeze since it's 2020 arrival, but the smaller markets it flew into weren't that great. Fast-forward to 2025 when they've added so many more markets, including the teeny tiny Pensacola airport which I happen to go back to when I'm not abroad and not in Tampa (the parents live there, and I run Airbnb's out of there). When I got back to Pensacola from abroad in July, I flew my daughter up on breeze and she told me how great it was. On my first breeze flight, it was a brand new plane! A first great impression for a germaphobe pho like me. I'm a bag checker so I don't know how it is to fly with just a carry-on and I feel like the plan with a check bag and Wi-Fi is worth it. You get full Wi-Fi on the plane. Only Water was served for my #Short one hour flight so I'm not certain if they serve other snacks, but there is a paid menu. For now, I'm giving this airline a five star because it was a smooth, clean and comfy flight. I'll update when I can do a round trip and also fly to a different market. After I'm done with my Southwest points Breeze will be my first look. I just hope it keeps expanding and takes Southwest place since Southwest decided it would like to be just as average as every other airline these days. Breeze feels like a better version of what Southwest was when it first started as you do get to choose your seats! I hope they keep up the great service. I wrote an article on breeze Airways upon its inauguration and the CEO at least at the time it was the former CEO of JetBlue. I remember loving JetBlue then hating it so I hope it's due to the CEO understanding what customers really want.

The Tampa terminal was also pretty organized, however, they could have used another agent at the baggage check counter, which was slow, despite not many flyers in line. The TSA line could have used and extra agent or two as well, but not horrible. The baggage and TSA employees were professional and friendly enough, did not encounter any rudeness. The boarding process was smooth and organized. The seats on this flight were much tighter than the plane from Detroit, I believe this plane was an Air Bus but not sure about this. The plane was jam packed, every seat full. Three seat on each side, narrow aisle where people going passed would bump into you. This is the first time I've flown in quite some time and I do not remember planes being this cramped. We left the gate on time but sat on the runway forever, apparently there was only one runway open so there was a huge line of planes waiting to take off. They informed everyone that some flyers may not make their connecting flights in Detroit. Once we got going the flight was very smooth and there was no delay in landing. The baggage arrived on the belts very quickly and nothing missing or damaged. Outside of the delayed takeoff, everything went smoothly, they offered plenty of snacks if you wanted any. I would choose Delta again to fly.

I had a fine experience with Frontier, booked my flight 3 months in advance and no delays or time changes at all - I was pleasantly surprised as Spirit will always have some kind of delays or time changes. FYI - Their personal item policy is EXTREMELY strict - they are going to ask to see your personal bag and ensure that it fits in the box provided at check in and at the gate before you board, if it doesn't, get ready to pay for a carry on/checked bag.
