well, I called & made my deposit & waited for installation. problem is they use another company for this (suddenlink ) To keep this short, I waited 2.5 MONTHS ! And to this day I have no internet. midway thru this I was given 1/2 refund. and to this day I'm still waiting on the other 1/2 . We have our Internet for our Home through Southwest Cyberport. It's been uneventful, but on the Occasion when it's not they have your back big time. Customer Service is TRULY their forte. They answer the phone, are patient and go above and beyond to help. You could go straight to the Vendor, ours is Century Link but you have the people behind your Service instead of a toll free number and long hold. Richard is Super helpful and friendly along with the rest of the staff. Also, it's a bit cheaper to go through them as well, which never is a bad thing. Highly recommend them and I am not easily pleased, so it's a huge compliment to their Service! read more

When I asked the person at Southwest Cyberport if I could talk to someone about home internet service, he replied in a rather nasty condescending voice "what about it?". I just hung up at that point. I have been using SWCP since around 1994, when the service was still being run out of the bedroom closet of the founders. They quickly grew out of that and have been in a real datacenter for years. They did this by being a GREAT ISP and understanding how to treat customers. SWCP is an excellent local ISP with phenomenal customer service. I've got multiple non-profit web sites hosted with them, personal email and shell accounts, and my home internet service. They are knowledgeable and helpful. If you've got special requirements, this place will understand what you're talking about and will work with you to meet your needs. Don't bother shopping around. THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO AN EMPLOYEE WHO WAS WORKING at 11:12 a.m. on Tuesday. 4/14/2015. I called to request service, despite hearing they simply run on Centurylink's infrastructure, because I heard their customer service was great. Nope. There is literally one man running the phone lines who has the snidest, rudest attitude I've ever gotten from any helpline. I called asking, 'I was wondering why the 5mb up services were unavailable in my area' and he NO EXAGGERATION started repeating 'Because it's not available in your area. It's just not available. There's no other explanation other than it's not available. That's the only answer I can give you,' cutting me off every time I tried to ask about the nature of their infrastructure. That's actually NOT the only answer he can give me; I was looking for an explanation of their servicing capabilities and whether they relied entirely on Qwest/Centurylink expansion plans/pre-existing structures, but he immediately decided to talk to me like i was a clueless idiot. I had my credit card in my hand ready to schedule an install date, but this dude was so unpleasant I asked if I could speak to someone else. 'No.' When is your shift over so I can speak with the next representative? 'Have a nice day.' When is your shift over? 'Have a nice day.' (x3-4) Could I speak with one of your supervisors? 'No. They're all busy.' It's pretty cowardly and avoidant to not connect to a supervisor or manager when you're unable to provide the necessary service. IN ADDITION, SWCP ADVERTISES THEIR LIGHTSPEED AS BROADBAND, BUT THEIR BASIC SERVICE OF 1.5MB DOWN LEGALLY DOES NOT MEET THE DEFINITION OF BROADBAND WHICH BEGINS, AT MINIMUM, AT 3MB DOWN. If you order their most basic internet package, you are not actually receiving broadband. EDIT 2: I guess my mention of going with another ISP got this review flagged. Seriously, if you luck out, small businesses are THE way to go compared to Big Bad major companies...but if you happen to catch an unhappy customer service nerd alone in the office having a shitty day after he's caught a string of 10 other annoying customers...he's gonna take it out on you and lose a lifelong customer. read more

Moving to New Mexico for spouse's work and got approved to work full time remote. Looking for a reliable internet service since I'll be spending a lot of time on video chat with coworkers. Contacted these guys since they had great reviews on this site! And I'm here to say that the hype is true. Called their number and got an answer from a knowledgeable human right away. Unfortunately they could not provide a fast enough connection to me where we were moving to, but the agent was still very helpful, advising me on what kind of connection I would need for WFH and who I could get it from. I love these guys. Before I moved back to Albuquerque I had to arrange for internet as I am now working from home. I don't know the name of the person I spoke with but he spent 30 minutes on the phone with me and was very helpful. The shame is that Centurlink has a monopoly on the infrastructure but SW Cyberport handles all the details so you never have to interact with the horrible customer support that the big C has. read more

I had SWCP home internet service for a year while living in Albuquerque, I would have stayed with them but I had to move. I joined because I wanted to support small local businesses and because I wanted to have knowledgeable, available customer service and support since I need consistent internet for working from home. Every interaction I had with SWCP (from initial installation through working with them to figure out if they could provide service where I was moving at the end of the year) was consistently reasonable and effective. They have a small number of staff people who you might talk with on the phone if you have tech problems or anything else to work out with them (I think it's 4 service staff), and I see that as a good thing, if there were a problem I would much rather deal with 4 real people I can become familiar with rather than wait on hold forever to talk with a randomly selected person in a large anonymous corporate call center (like you'd get when dealing directly with Centurylink or Comcast). read more
