First of all, I want to mention that we used only Southwest moving services, we packed ourselves. Move went very smoothly, including our piano. Joe (a former NYC Moshe Movers veteran) had seen everything, so we felt in good hands. Communication was very good as well. Price was fair, particularly with gas prices the way they are now. We used Southwest movers to move 2 bed room apartment from San Jose to Milpitas. It was just a few miles. Most of the items came okay but they broke my daughter's table. Completely shattered ... Also they misplaced the wheels from the guard rails of our bed. Other items like TV, sofa, table, dresser and the main bed came fine. Their prices were quite high so I felt their service was below average considering their prices. In future I won't be using them. read more

They were horrible when I hired them to help me move 2 years ago. I had been in a car accident and was still recovering from a fractured sternum and a broken wrist. One of them stood around most of the time and kept asking me questions when we were at the storage unit. They deliberately threw a glass standing lampshade and it shattered, but they said "oh well, you can get another one." They turned a "closet-type" oversized box with my winter coats hanging in it upside down; opened the box & shoved some bag-type overnight suitcases in there. I discovered this just the other day, when I pulled everything spray from this box. They put my queen bed on a metal bed frame, then assembled my headboard, footboard and side rails around it. I couldn't move it to vacuum! There were slats to use with the bed, if fully assembling but I haven't discovered where they put them or what happened to those. Be wary of these guys - they act like they hired you, instead of the other way around. If you don't pay all or part of your bill in cash (under-the-table & not reported income), they find ways to "make you pay". Last time I checked, they were being investigated by DOT (department of transportation) for being non-compliant with regulations and truck licensing. read more

The guys gently wrapped all the furniture needed. Very quickly loaded and unloaded at the designated location. Okay/bordering negative experience, a bit on the expensive side but the lack of hassle in the move was nice. Point A to point B; three major issues: small scratch on the paint when climbing stairs deep enough at destination that it won't go away, my living room side table was completely shattered (broken in four pieces), and my 75" tv they were supposed to crate they clearly picked up and manipulated by the feet which deformed the bottom side of the television. I realised this only after they left. Currently En process of filing claims. Cost me 1200 dollars for full move including packing (no unpacking) for 6 hours and a crew of three from Santa Clara to San Jose. With the tv damage, that's already 1200 dollars I could have saved. read more

Five years After and I am using these great guys again, same crew, same great people, hard workers, they move my Yamaha Grand Piano twice(!!) and like the first time, no damages!!! My husband hired Southwest movers to handle our move. I listened in when he made the initial appointment. "We live in a small apartment and moved down from a large house, so there is a LOT of stuff in a small space. We will need packers for this move." Apparently, the movers did not come anticipating having to pack. And the person who made the appointment did not relay that we knew we had a lot of stuff and needed help. They called in a 4th person... but... let's just say I'd trust my goddaughter, a toddler, to do a better job of packing. It began with unloading the dishes. I used to have a nice set of west elm dishes. Most of the set is now in fragmented ruins. (It was $350 worth in dishes... I think I have like $75 of the set left. RIP reactive glaze stoneware preciouses. You were good to us.) The druzy agate unicorn? It had been tossed willy nilly into a box without any wrapping at all. (Hint: this was an anniversary present from my husband. It is not a cheap piece.) I found a $2,500+ dollar museum stone carving made of lapis lazuli in the junk pile at the old apartment along with several other gifted stone horse/unicorn carvings, important documentation, and a bunch of broken things from where they'd taken my bookshelf and dumped it onto the floor, including several crystals worth hundreds of dollars a piece. I'm fine with junk clutter being left at the apartment. I'm even fine with movers going "We aren't comfortable moving this stuff." I'm even okay with "Oh shit, we accidentally broke the floor to ceiling mirror in the bedroom, sorry!" (Husband didn't notice the mirror was broken until long after they were gone... as then I asked him, the next day, 'why is the mirror broken?') His signed hockey stick? Buried under a pile of junk. Open groceries put into the same bag as caustic chemicals and heavy duty cleaners? Check. I haven't found the rest of my Satsuma dragon set; the tea pot, the creamer, and the sugar bowl somehow survived, but the fate of the tea cups... not good. I have thrown out so many broken dishes, some of which are heirlooms, that I can't even. The Satsuma set is very difficult to replace, as it was purchased in Japan at the start of the occupation by US forces during world war II. These can't really be replaced... I have the pieces of the dishes, but I lack the skills to do the repair. My husband will be reaching out to the company to see what they're going to do about the heirloom pieces and the gifts that just cannot be replaced because they're unique. Sure... there are other druzy agate unicorns out there, but none of them are that exact one! In the photo with the paper-wrapped rectangle? That was where I found the Setsumas. The rectangle is a large, antique horse head bookend. It was resting on top of fine china. It's no wonder so much was broken... read more

If you're planning a move, call Southwest Movers TODAY - they are awesome! Jason, Joey and Angel were a super efficient and organized team and made this move a breeze. As a teacher, I would give them A++ across the board! The company is professional and punctual, with great customer service from the initial call with Mandy right to the end of the move. They were transparent and up front about the costs ahead of time and went over options for extras without trying to up sell or surprise us with any hidden fees. Mandy called us two days before to confirm time and location, which relieved quite a bit of stress on my end having been stood up by movers before. We had called a few different moving companies and Southwest Movers was the most prompt, organized and reasonably priced option and it shows on every level how much pride they take in their business. On the day of the move, Jason called to give ETA (on schedule, of course!) and the guys brought all the equipment needed like dollies, blankets, tape, mattress protectors, wardrobe boxes (!!!), extra picture boxes and muscles. Moving a 2 bedroom apartment from Santa Cruz to San Jose took just about 4 hours including travel time. They were very careful with my belongings and even took apart the bed and put it back together! Update: we went through the claims process and they only pay 60 cents per pound! So if you have a handbag that was stolen that is $1500, they pay 60cents. Let's say you had a diamond ring that was stolen, you'll only get 60 cents. We called Joe and after a lot of tense back and forth he said we have no proof that our items were stolen. The person who packed my office with my belongings took one of my louis vuitton clutches, my sentimental buttons I collected, and damaged some of my items by tossing soft items in with hard items. Also some of my husbands items are missing. Someone private messaged me on yelp after seeing my review that the same thing happened to them. They also had items stolen and Joe pushed back on them. PLEASE: Do not let them pack for you! We've had friends use other movers who use reputable employees, not kids off the street, and had no problems with the packing or items being stolent. Take a photo of everyone's face and drivers license if you can. Joe's story changed so many times, actively trying to locate the items, tried to get the kid to give the stuff back, kid denying it, then pushing back on us to prove the items are missing. Unbelievably bad company and bad customer service. Those buttons had sentimental value - I collected them in college - gone. I am so angry with them. read more

They did a horrible job. They wrecked our new leather furniture and packed things so that boxes would cave in. Also really needed to be told in advance how much they were charging for materials. They charge literally 10x the price of Home Depot for things like boxes and tape. This service just leaves you feeling ripped off and you only find the extent of their poor packing once you're gone. read more

Used this company at the beginning of this month, due to the holidays some things got unpacked slower than others as of today this company broke three fragile pieces an entertainment center and over 3,500$ worth of Purses are gone. AVOID THEM..This company should be rated ZERO. I used them last Monday after reading good reviews. They came 1.25 hours late (bay area local move). They are possibly the slowest mover. It took 3 people approx 8 hours to load furniture from 4-5 room. They were suppose to move closet items in garment box rental ($5 per day) but they brought only few garment rental boxes that finished as they packed 1 room/master bedroom. They ran out of garment boxes so did not pack other rooms. They were suppose to move them later after dropping rest of items, but they did not. Next day I found most of upstairs stuff was left in closet. They asked for 10-15% tips. Even after 12 hours and lots of expense, I ended up moving 3 rooms of garment and many other items in my car the next day. I am very disappointed with the move. Move was only 5 miles, so they had to make 2nd trip. but during the 2nd trip they only moved 4 large items (patio and exercise furniture). They conveniently forgot all upstairs closet items. They also dented walls, broke a frame and table. So move was Partial. Don't be fooled by high rating, they should be Zero rating. SLOW, incomplete, expensive... read more
