Overall the movers were good. The disappointment came when he gave me the final bill. I was under the impression that I was being charged by the hour. It only took them 1 hour and 45 mins to move my 6 pieces of furniture. Come to find out that they charge a 3 hour minimum which was not shared in the initial correspondence. I was thinking I was probably only going to pay $220 and I ended up having to pay $420. I myself, am a business owner, I do not have any hidden cost. This being your policy should be shared when somebody is asking about your pricing. This was never stated to me when I asked for the cost of service. I'm giving them 3 stars for the move. Being transparent as a business should be the top priority. I guess not all companies have transparency. Make sure you ask for all the cost in your communication! read more

I researched various movers and then settled on West Valley. They're made up of two local families and their crews. Nick came right away to offer an estimate--their estimate came with insurance and licensure information, as well. They were quite aboveboard and very accommodating. When the day came, they worked quickly and carefully to pack our belongings and load them into their truck. Immediately, I felt very comfortable with the very kind crew. They took care of everything and unpacked the boxes into our new space. They had a carpet to protect our floors and did their best to avoid causing any damage. I reached out to West Valley Moving Co (WVMC) from a friends referral and WOW these guys didn't disappoint. Their service was fast, friendly, and phenomenal! They loaded up all of my things quickly and professionally and were even willing to do the move the day before Thanksgiving. I was in a bit of a pinch due to moving out of my ex's place and they were able to get me scheduled and on the books in less than a week and get me out in good time. They had mats laid down in both the place I was moving from and the place I was moving into so that they didn't damage the floors. They were super fast loading up the truck and equally fast with unloading. They even helped me move a piece that was too clunky that I had delivered to the house! I had booked/arranged everything with Nick and Casey and Ivan were the guys who came to help move. These guys are absolutely awesome! They moved me from San Jose to the Oregon coast just a couple of weeks ago. They ALWAYS showed up right on time, we'very personable & took care of my things like they were their own. They covered all my furniture pieces with quilts, then shrink-wrapped the pieces. All my furniture was handled with great care. My household was packed & loaded on a truck & the items stayed on that truck until they got to my new home in Oregon. Nothing was broken or damaged. The furniture was placed where I wanted it. The guys even put sliders under my heavy pieces at my request. They did not leave until I was satisfied with the placement of everything. There were no extra or unexpected charges added. When I left San Jose, I knew exactly how much I would owe once my items were delivered. I really can't say enough about this company! Prior review: It took a while to figure out why our move was such a mess compared to two friends of ours that also used WVMC, and our best guess is that no one from the family was at our move. Given those two recommendations we booked them without hesitation. However we observed a different service altogether, even one of our friends that came by said wow they didn't do that for our move. They also said someone from the family was present to work and observe the crew. In our move they didn't wear masks (required by the county and state at that time), used our personal property without asking, and half the guys were on their mobile phones, and often at that. We reached out to the company multiple times, never heard back. Never again. Breakage was better than usual, moving time was slower than usual. Always ask for blankets in advance and wrap yourself, no sense in paying that hourly rate for packing unless you have money to burn. Update: Moved again. Took half the time, cost less hourly, and we moved additional items. Checkout allstars. read more

During the move date, his crew was courteous and had a backup truck ready, at no charge to us if they ran out of space in the original truck that they had charged us for.
