Hugo and Tony were excellent in their effort to make sure my car was taken care of at the moment. I got there after 4p with break issues. Tony searched for the part which was not available at that time. I couldn't drive the vehicle with a broken brake line so I had to leave it. I needed a ride home. so Hugo said "no worries, I'll get you a Lyft Rise Share to take you home." Talk about relievEd!. Anyway, I got the car back and it drives like it's brand new. We had an issue from our previous repair at FireStone and Southwest Muffler and Brake specifically Eric and Hugo told us to bring it back to them as they were the ones that overturned the gaskit causing the oil to leak. My car had a P0420 code which is an emissions code, usually an Oxygen sensor. But after some investigating I found that my muffler pipe in between the upper and lower O2 sensors was cracked. So in theory that pipe crack was causing the lower sensor to have poor readings. So I walked in to the shop and asked how much would it be to weld that piece of pipe back together since it was broken at the weld., and they said because I had the P0420 code that I need a whole new catalytic converter, quoting me over $2k in services. The tech even called over the guy with all the 30 years of experience to back his claim. So I walked out and ended up going to another shop by my job, they welded it for $40, the engine light was reset and my vehicle passed inspection proving that I was correct of the problem and solution to fixing my vehicle. It's sad, when people stop working with you and just jump to the highest possible outcome., not caring about how much money it will cost. read more

I have repeatedly been very pleased with the Hwy 6 Southwest Muffler & Break for various work they've done for me (beyond mufflers, etc.). They've often put in extra friendly effort to my benefit at no extra cost. For example, the first time I went there (many years ago) because my old muffler was very loud, they saw the problem was minor and honestly/happily fixed it and didn't charge me a cent (while other unethical shops would typically insist I needed a new muffler plus yada-yada-yada ...). I recently needed my driver's window rollup mechanism replaced. After spending all their time & effort to replace it, it turned out that my current door's window mechanism was not the standard setup (due to a prior owner's shoddy bandaid repair work - NOT their fault) thus costing them extra work and time to get additional parts/tools. After that, then one of the new parts they had installed soon turned out to be defective (again NOT their fault), costing them (NOT me) even more expense to find a better one then order & replace it ... thus all total tripling their work. Then, on top of that, they also graciously did some extra work on my door (for free) which greatly reduced the wind noise coming from that door/window that had nagged me for many years. I strongly recommend taking you car there for any kind of service needed which they can provide. Despite their name, they seem to be able to do just about everything (not just mufflers, etc.). While traveling through from out of state on a Saturday my 2004 Toyota sienna developed an exhaust leak coming from somewhere in the engine compartment. I stopped by and was quickly relieved to learn it was just a hole in a elbow of the exhaust pipe. $130 layer i was in and out, back on the road. They helped me right away, They check the brakes and founds everything fine. They check other items. Did not take long, and fixed minor items like Freon in air condition that needed attention. Had my front brake rotors and shoes replaced, labor only, for $100. It was quick and easy, a lot better than me throwing tools trying to do it myself. I walked over to Mexican restaurant while I was waiting. I also had them install a flowmaster muffler for $40. I just realized they have a oil change special as well. My truck holds 7 quarts so they told me to just go buy 2 more quarts next door at the auto parts store, they will put them in and give me the oil change special price. (Because its up to 5 quarts only) That my friends is old fashion good customer service! read more

Mr. Javier, the shop manager was very honest. I didn't need brake pads replaced like I thought, and he told me straight I didn't need it now. They didn't charge me to get my car checked, either. I shopped and compared 4 different shops to get brake pads replaced, Southwest Muffler and Brake was the cheapest. They have experience mechanics, too. Stopped by Friday morning to investigate replacing the tailpipe on my 2009 Ford Sporttrac. Rather than having me wait, I was asked to return in about an hour. Forty-five minutes after that, I was back in the road with a new tailpipe for under $100! Everyone at the shop was incredibly nice, and the mechanic who did the work also took the time to show and explain what was needed. I'm so pleased and very impressed with the service. SouthWest Muffler is a good shop and the owner Tony is a good honest man. I was looking to buy a used car for my son. We found a car in TexasDirectAuto and brought it to SouthWest Muffler and Brake for inspection. It was lunchtime, Tony said it will be 15 mins wait but within 15 mins the car was jacked up and being inspected. Most things check out except fuel level sensor was tagged. Tony wrote down what the problem but back in the TexasDirectAuto I could not explain clearly what the problem. I called, Tony picked up the phone and explained to the car salesman what the problem may be. In the end, I bought the car because I know if there is any car problem, I know where to take it to.
