I don't write reviews often, but my experience with Southwest Solar has been so frustrating that I feel obligated to warn others. During the installation of panels on my new home, their team drilled 20+ holes through my living room ceiling, which resulted in dust and debris falling directly into my living room and all over my furniture. The lack of care for my property was shocking. Their communication and professionalism have been even worse. They have shown up to my house unannounced at least four separate times, and on occasions when I wasn't home, workers entered my property anyway. On one particularly frustrating day while I was at work, they called me over 15 times back-to-back to say inspectors were at my house -- despite never scheduling the visit with me. Yet when I try to reach them, no one answers the phone or follows up. This company's operational discipline and customer respect are seriously lacking. What should have been a straightforward solar installation has turned into a stressful, messy experience. The Southwest Solar works with Green Power Network Solar sales a Company that pretends to be part of LADWP Green Power. They sign you up to a Finance company Palmetto LightReach which has numerous BBB complaints and is not a member. NO one has said they worked for Palmetto LightReach . As [GPN] Green Power Network they made many claims about the solar roofing program that were then not included after the contract was signed. NO scheduled appointments were made they showed up. Southwest did not coordinate when they would start they just showed up when ever. SWS claims to have a sister company Southwest Roofing that prior to solar install was to replace/repair the roof; they put the wrong color roof on and used the wrong nails and did extremely poor work on the installation which caused damage to my home. On their 1st attempt at repairs it caused more damage to my home. Southwest Solar/Green Power would not provide permits for project or contractors information for who would do the repairs. Southwest and Green Power had many chances to repair and provide Contractors information but choose to threaten me with liens and no do the repairs DO NOT TRUST THEM !! read more

I had to go to their office in Chatsworth just to speak to someone because of an issue and I may have to do it again. I own a home with a neighbor who has trees blocking the sunlight from my roof. I told them I couldn't buy the Solar Panels , unless they spoke to my neighbor about agreeing to trim his trees. They said they did , and all that needed to be done would be to schedule the trimming... But they said time is running out you need to complete the transaction in order to get TAX credit before the end of the year.. They assured me that the trees would be trimmed shortly .... At the two month point I called as I was not seeing an difference in my bill. They said it would take time for the system to work and that I should see it soon. So a few more months go by and I called Enphase and they said everything was functioning properly and then Call my electric company and they said everything was working fine on their end as well. So basically it seem as they completely gave me a system that isn't working to meet my previous needs much less my current needs. To be totally honest when we first contracted Southwest Solar we had an agent that was great 1on1 attention until he disappeared. Thought we got scammed. Thankfully upon calling the company, I was connected to Elanor and she turned everything around. She has been awesome, available via text and accommodating every step of the way! The 1on1 service is greatly appreciated, especially when it's someone like Elanor that takes pride in helping her clients! It's been a year since Southwest Solar installed additional solar panels on my roof in Los Angeles. Initially the sales rep was great, super responsive and helpful. I was super excited at the promise of reducing my electricity bill to zero and repaying less than my average monthly bill to the solar loan. Not to mention the environmental impact. Southwest got the panels up on the roof in a matter of days. Unfortunately when LADWP came to inspect the meter, that's where the wheels fell off pretty badly. LADWP deemed that the mains panel could not be located at the top of some stairs and near a door, so it had to be moved. I would have thought that the Solar company might have had some insight on this had they had an experience architect on their team. Luckily Southwest agreed to move it and LADWP provided very specific details on where the mains panel had to be located in order to meet code. I soon learned that SW Solar use a 3rd party contracting company, unfortunately communication between those two was bad and the contractor installed it in the wrong place, just a few feet from where the LADWP had requested. To move it here, they cut a hole in my brand new roof and dug up my entire back patio. Which had to stay open until LADWP approved it. When Southwest sent the pics to LADWP, it was not up to code and they had to move my mains box again. All in all the whole thing took about 6 months, and much of that was due to the damage the contractors did to my home in the process. They left huge cracks in the patio, holes in the walls, and had to repaint half of my house because they spot patched in a different color. Ultimately it all got repaired but not without a lot of phone calls and emails from me. Southwest were responsive until that work was completed - albeit begrudgingly and the project manager they connected me with behaved like an absolute dick to me. It's now been year since the work began and the net energy metering bank on my electric bills have still been reading zero for the last 6 months, despite the Enphase meter showing that I'm producing a ton of solar. But now Southwest Solar are completely non-responsive. Despite promising me at the outset that my electric bill would be zero and the repayment on the solar installation loan would be less than my average monthly power bill. On top of that the loan company (Good Leap) provide absolutely no transparency into how much of the principal balance is owing so I have no clarity on what the payment schedule for loan should be. I wouldn't recommend these guys unless you're keen for a giant flipping headache, a lot of attitude and then a complete ghosting. read more

The project started in August, I signed the contract and the next day workers were showing up at my house the next day before the three day "cooling off" period was up. to start at the beginning, I was told 5 times that someone come to the house for initial consultations 5 times I waited in vain. I was given excuses for the no shows like " our guy got in a car accident" the first time there was a no show, after waiting all day on a Sunday, no one called to say they couldn't make the appointment. The next time also a Sunday another no show, no call, this time the person had "tested positive for covid". They called again asking for another consultation, again on a Sunday another excuse for the no show. Finally on the sixth time the only person that was professional came. I was skeptical but when they offered to replace my roof I became interested. I agreed to the contract and had second thought because of all the Issues with appointments, the manager called and high pressured me to go through with it. now into the sixth month of the project still not connected to the grid. There is also an issue with workers showing up with no advanced warning. The number of times they didn't show when they said they would be here is already into double digits. Last Friday December 26, 2025 they were supposed "commission" the system, guess what? No show no call again. This has been a nightmare from beginning to... maybe the end. My home renovation contractor had solar installed by this company 2 or so years ago on my roof. It seemed to work at first, but i got higher and higher electric bills. I decided to have it checked. I first contacted Southwest Solar, and they wanted 200 plus dollars to have someone sent to look. (This was when I finally got them on the phone.) I contacted my contractor and he said he no longer uses southwest solar, as this is not the first time he's had issues with them. He sent a solar guy from a different company to take a look. It turns out, not only am I getting zero energy, but apparently, Southwest Solar installed commercial optimizers instead of the proper residential ones. They aren't compatible and it was inevitable that it would stop working. I and my contractor contacted them several times and they refuse to fix the issue. It's hard to believe a company this unscrupulous is still in business. Stay faaar away from this company. read more
