None of us had really done this before, but he offered lots of words of encouragement and was a delight to have as our instructor. It was just a few of us and then one other couple so it was nice that the class size wasn't too big. We all had a blast and I am definitely looking at coming back in the future!

My mom and I had done it with other family up in Michigan before, but this was Grandma's first time, and she was nervous. However, once I got a glass of wine for her from their little bar at the counter, she started cracking jokes left and right and making friends with everyone in the class. The painting leader person gave her a sticker for being the class jokester. They had a bunch of paintings with faces cut out, so I posed as the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who and the Goblin King from Labyrinth. My mom was Olaf from Frozen, of course. The class instructor encouraged us to post our photos to social media and the person with the most likes by the end of the class got a free painting! I posted mine too late in the class to get many likes, but it was still fun for a break in the painting time. We were supposed to be painting a spirit deer (like our patronus from Harry Potter), but my mom's ended up looking like a moose, so she painted cartoon eyes so that it now resembles Bullwinkle, which completely cracks me up. I only drank half of my glass of wine, so naturally Grandma finished off the rest of mine. She had an amazing time! My only criticism is that I felt rushed the whole time - this was a shorter class than usual at an hour and a half, and I feel like I could've done a better job with another half an hour for this painting. However, thanks, Painting with a Twist, for a great family activity for three generations - even if my paintings don't turn out quite the way I want them, it's still a fun time.

This was the first time I had visited a board and brush…read more We arrived 6 minutes early. It was a cold evening and door was locked and despite there being three people inside (2 were owners, and the other was a frequent customer) they did not unlock the door until right after 6:00 PM to let us in. They turned and looked towards the door when we tried to open it but didn't come let us in. We just stood outside, in the cold, just waiting. If we hadn't prepaid, we would have left. At times owner was very nice, at other times it appeared she got irritated with something we did she didn't like. She spent too much time talking about the stains. Which we could have used that time on the back end. One time she didn't like how I was applying the paint (although the way I was applying in the end looked better and had no bleeding). Another time I was going to slow. Sped up and wasn't happy with my coloring. And definitely don't apply too my paint. We wanted a solid color, which needed more paint to not have the wood show through. Well... my Mom needed more paint and she felt like the owner did not like that. Then it took longer for it to dry, owner commented on that too. Even ran her finger over paint one time, and then ran her finger over the paper on the table right in front of Mom, to show the paint, still wet, and walked away. I found that rude. Once we could proceed with Mom's sign, we felt rushed. Every though the owner commented there was no rush, since other lady present finished her sign and left. Well, thought that statement was funny, since up to that point, we felt rushed. At the end, we did have a lot of touch ups to fix because, she didn't think we were applying paint right, and doing her way, was too much and we had spreading. Then she quickly pulled off pattern, and probably should have done that slower. She wasn't even present when we left. She had spent a lot of time that evening setting up for the next day. She was in back when we left and her husband was out with us. Did I end up with a cool sign... definitely.. but that was because of me, But part of this place is the experience, and that was lacking. Would I visit a board and brush again, definitely. Would I visit this location? No.
