She got the clippers(!) and cut a crooked line across and then tried to say I moved (why would I do that when she has CLIPPERS?) then she cut my hair 4 inches shorter to a bob and still charged me for a cut that was her mistake. This was my very first tape-in install, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The salon itself is beautiful, spotless, and welcoming. Kevin washed my hair, and that alone was amazing he took his time, and even gave me a relaxing head and shoulder massage afterward (a lovely surprise!). I gave him a $40 tip because his service was so good. I also purchased my hair directly from the salon, and it's absolutely gorgeous!! super soft and high quality. I'm now on week 3 with my tape-ins, and they are still holding strong. What impressed me the most is how my hair has stayed straight all this time. I'm sure the salon provides excellent results, pictures speak for themself. But unfortunately I had to cancel my appointment. I'm starting chemo soon and wanted to cut my relaxed hair off. Price online says 50$. With taxes fees and tip came to 61. I was later informed it would be an additional 75.00 just to wash my hair. So total of 135$ to cut my hair off. My mother has been a master cosmetologist for 20 years, charging clients ridiculous prices for services that should be included is called "building a ticket". Very saddened. read more

My experience with Shawon was amazing! I was in town from California and wanted to have my hair professionally done...not a relaxer but the smoothing treatment she offered in her services. I made an appointment with SP Haircare two months in advance. I made sure that Shawon knew I was in town for a wedding. She rescheduled my appointment 5 times without consulting me first. (I have the text messages to prove it.) I received so many messages that I finally had to call Shawon because in the end, I had no idea what time she had settled on. I arrived 15 minutes early to be on the safe side. I had to wait 45 minutes before I was taken to the bowl to be shampooed. The service I received was a shampoo, blow dry and flatiron style. No color, no cut. I was there for 3 hours for an appointment that should have taken 90 minutes tops. Shawon's niece was her next appointment and Shawon was pulling foundation colors for her niece and more focused on selecting a foundation for her, than finishing my hair. The cost for my hair was $85. I paid Shawon a total of $102 ($85 +20% tip) through Venmo. Soon after I left, Shawon sent me a text message and snapshot saying she had two different totals for me. She then called me saying that I chose to pay her as a business transaction on Venmo. I explained to Shawon that I paid her the $85 she said I owed her plus a %20 tip for a total of $102. (I have a confirmation from Venmo that I paid and she accepted the $102). She tried to insinuate that I only paid her $99. Even if that were true, which it was not, she still received her money for the appointment with a nice tip. Why she would call and text me regarding a $3 discrepancy is beyond me. I continually searched for a hairstylist with appointments before 10 and an expert in hair care. When I saw the reviews on Yelp and Google regarding SPHair, I marveled at the fact that this salon checked all of the boxes. I made an appointment approximately a month prior and waited for the day that I would be able to get my hair done weekly without impeding on my schedule. I was deeply dismayed when I received a text a couple of days before my appointment requesting that I change my time from 9:30 am to earlier to accommodate a regular client. However, the request indicated that the regular client would "allow" me to go ahead of her (as if to do me a favor), but I soon realized that I had to change my time from 9:30 to 8:00 in order for this "favor" to take effect, which I found quite odd. When I couldn't accommodate the 8:00 appointment, I was then given a time of 10:00 and then it became a "thing" to discuss on the phone, which shouldn't have existed since I had done my due diligence of securing a scheduled appointment weeks in advance. Shawon is absolutely hands down the best natural hair stylist I've ever had. I had the pleasure to meet Shawon after I had a horrible experience with a stylist I'd been going to for a bit. I decided that was the last time I would leave that salon disappointed simply by making the choice to not visit again. I began to go through my previous history in my phone and again read the reviews of the stylists at SP Haircare. The day before, I had contemplated going to SP Haircare rather than my usual salon. Wish I'd followed my gut. Anyhow, I saw Shawon's history, experience and reviews and immediately booked an appointment (appt.) for the next day. After I got my appt. confirmation via Vagaro, Shawon called me directly. We talked briefly and she asked me the condition of my hair. She made recommendations for the upcoming appt., and although optional, I agreed with her. I drove from Florida to Atlanta the next day for my early A.M appt. The environment was divine. It was upscale salon meets urban chic. Although it's on the main street the sounds were obscured, you get to enjoy the "life" of the city without all of the noise. Shawon arrived on time and greeted me with a warm "Hello". I was then provided with a smock to put on. Afterwards I was escorted to her chair where she did an assessment on my scalp, hair and hair texture. We did a brief overview of the services chosen. I received a wash, an intense smoothing, moisturizing, and softening treatment and a cut. I was so nervous about the cut. Honestly I was a bit anxious in general because I had previously been told that I couldn't get this basic bob cut without being shaved in the back by a previous stylist. Anyhow I told Shawon my lifestyle and exactly what I was looking for with this cut and asked if we could achieve it. Shawon changed my life for the better I never knew my hair could look, and feel so good. The cut, in a word...fabulous. It was important to not have it shaved because by me going back to school coupled with my current work schedule I didn't want to visit a salon weekly to upkeep the shaved section. My hair felt like silk. I got more compliments in one week that I had in years. I may have gotten a couple here and there but nothing like what I'd gotten after leaving Shawon. When I came home I continued my same routine, I worked out, ran, worked and went to school and my hair stayed straight and bouncy for three weeks. THREE WEEKS. Shawon would say, when I would shake my hair, "girl you got that Oprah Winfrey body." The shine, the bounce, the feel.... impeccable. Many stylists I have been to before get caught up in "this is not for our hair" concerning products. When you do that, you put yourself in a box by limiting your view and thereby limiting your clientele and reach. Shawon researches products and stays educated on hair period. She uses top quality products, which is reflected in my hair. Lastly, I came to Shawon at shoulder length on Aug 22nd, 2015. I had it cut in a bob with the shortest part just below ear length on that day. I have had my hair cut and trimmed a few times since by Shawon. Even with that, my hair has exceeded shoulder length in less than a year, much less. This is because Shawon cares for the health of the hair.
