There are so many things wrong with this place. I'm going to start with the filthy pools. I'm sure there was vaginal discharge (or snot) floating in there. They DO NOT CLEAN THE POOLS OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER.. FILTH. Next, mold everywhere, moldy rugs, moldy pools, moldy chairs.. etc. Moving on, alcoholic drinks served here are 25$ & they use a pre-made drink mix + cheap liquor. Broken saunas, loose wires, the list goes on ... DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, where are you? Oh and by the way, don't visit after 2pm. During the time of Covid I would avoid, but in addition the location definitely needs repairs. Hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable girls day out we were met with lots of children (more than there were adults), infants and very limited space. It was a little strange to expect a spa day and have ladies changing diapers right next to you while lounging. Of the limited space in open pools and hot tubs many of the spa jets were out of order. This was also true for the available infrared zone, basically more than half of the push or touch to activate items were broken and didn't work. The temperatures of the saunas and pools (both bath house and out door)were way off so please don't expect the heat or the cold one would expect in either. It was not work the $60 dollars, but we made the best of it I guess. I could not imagine this place at 100% capacity. yikes! Also, don't expect no phone/camera policy to be respected or enforced. As far as visiting during Covid restrictions, the website states that most areas and services are unavailable. Towels, uniforms, toiletries and any other communal items are unavailable. You may bring your own or purchase. No one really respects social distancing, or masks. Please do not expect hand sanitizers, provided masks or a smooth check in or check out as mentioned on their website. Most all of the sauna and steam rooms are closed, only the main large sauna, the ice room and one outdoor sauna are open. As far as pools, the outdoor and indoor pools are open with social distance restrictions. But as I said above please manage expectations on functioning or temperature accurate amenities. So it's up to you if want to pay full price admission for a warm wadding pool and a shower away from home. read more

It's been a long time. The last time we came (pre-COVID and quarantine) we had to walk barefoot unless wearing their purchased slippers. Now it seems we are allowed our own slippers AND we can bring in our water bottles. There's very little staff around. Used to be someone swiffering or mopping to make sure it's clean for the barefoot patrons. Yuck. This place has gotten SO GROSS. The indoor pool with the jets was gross. The water had hair and dead insects floating with a sheen of oil on top. My daughter didn't even want to follow me in. The outdoor hot tub under the gazebo had very little water in it and IT WAS SO GROSS. Murky, yellowy water with stuff floating on top. In the large outdoor area, most of the jets don't even work. It's like they left it abandoned and we were a bunch of homeless people taking baths in it. The only part that seemed somewhat decent was the naked portion in the locker rooms. Then again light was dim there so I couldn't tell if there were things floating in the water. I needed a long hot shower after leaving here. The staff were not very friendly and acted like it was a chore to show up and make a smoothie. I'm not sure if this place will last much longer if it continues like this. I'm surprised people are still going. It will definitely be my last. Going to check out King Spa in NJ. I heard that place is still very nice. Sorry Spa Castle, you need to pay your employees more. Spa Castle is such a fun place! Come with a group of friends and spend a day here! Saunas, bathhouses, outdoor jacuzzi's, and pools with massaging abilities are included with your entrance fee. My first stop is the outdoor jacuzzi's and pools. The best experience I had was being there in the middle of January when it was cold and snowy. Nothing beats the experience of sitting in a hot jacuzzi while the snow is falling from the sky! Hot saunas with various temperatures come next, just lay there until you sweat all that toxin out of your body! When you get hungry, there are quite a few options. There is a bar and Korean spot all the way upstairs or the buffet salad bar, sushi bar, and juice bar on the second floor. For first timers, wear your swim suits under your clothes unless you are comfortable getting naked in front of strangers. There are no private changing rooms! I had been going here for years. I stopped going for a few years due to the place becoming absolutely gross. Recently they did some renovations so I went back to check it out. Firstly, they overcharged us at the door, making us pay weekend price for a weekday admission! They painted the place into "hospital white" with blue accents. Not very cozy colors at all. They have new uniforms and slippers (good) but they don't let you change out the robe if it gets wet for a dry one, so be smart and bring your own! Otherwise they will nickel and dime you for a dry robe. The only major real renovation I noticed was the large salt sauna, which is very nice. The indoor jacuzzi section, however had water of such nasty yellow and brown color, that I was afraid to go in! The area was empty too... where is the renovation there?? They still had many workers there doing some repairs, even though they have reopened, now charging $85 for a weekday admission! There is also no free parking anymore, so better to park on the street. Basically, for me to drive 4 hours both ways, the place isn't at the level of being worth it. But I'm sure for Queens residents, it may be. Spa Castle is hit or miss..lol I've been here several times, mostly when there's deals on Groupon and Living Social. (Be advised, if you have a Groupon deal, you will get charged a small fee at the door.) Otherwise, I don't really think it's worth it; I'd rather pay the extra toll and make the trip out to King Spa. I've never come on a weekend, because I've heard horror stories from my friends about how hectic it can get. I've always come during the weekday, early in the morning when the spa opens. During those hours, it's not bad. It's not crowded at all and you can actually enjoy and relax. For the most part, the locker rooms are kept pretty clean. They do a good job making sure the floors are clean and well maintained. Sometimes the locks are slow to react to the bracelet key, so you gotta tap it a few times. I really like soaking in the hot tubs in the all-male room adjoining the locker room. When it's not too crowded, I could relax in there for up to 20-30 minutes..although that's probably not advisable by some people. The showers in there are pretty comfortable too. I like that the water pressure is strong; just stand underneath and let the water soothe your muscles. Some people don't like the nude section of this room, but really..c'mon..We're all men, get over it..lol As for the saunas, my 2 favorite rooms are the Ice Room and the Hot As Hell Room. The Hot As Hell Room is my go-to sauna room. The heat inside might be overwhelming at first, so I suggest hit up one or two of the lesser saunas first, like the Gold Room or the Color Room. Remember to stay hydrated, or you'll pass the F out and that's the last thing you want happening..lol Spa Castle food is pretty bad and extremely overpriced. I paid $5 for a "mocha coffee", which was basically a cup full of ice, add a little milk and chocolate syrup. No coffee flavor at all. What a rip off! Spa Castle was also the first time I've ever tried a corn dog (LOL I know..mad late to the game). It was interesting to say the least. Not my cup of tea. Also, if you wanna get your swole on, there's a decent weight room complete with a full rack of dumb bells, bicycle, elliptical, and a few machines. It's a pretty quiet room, tucked away on the top floor away, and you can get a nice workout there. Most people don't use it or don't know about it, so you can really take advantage of the exclusivity. Overall, Spa Castle is not bad. If you come on weekends, you'll be overwhelmed with all the families with their noisy kids. If you come during the weekdays, before noon, you'll probably have a decent time. You really gotta be smart and pick your days and times wisely if you want a relaxing experience. read more

DO NOT COME HERE, MEN MASTURBATING IN THE MENS SAUNA! I've been coming here since it first opened. It's progressively gotten worse and worse. Last Sunday I decided I wanted to go, at the end I usually use the mens sauna and cold dunk, when I walked into the sauna there were 5 men openly jerking off. I went and told the guy at the desk who seemed pretty non phased by it, he came back and said they weren't doing it when he walked in so he can't do anything about it. I spoke to management and they had the same sentiment, that if we don't catch them we can't do anything about it. Remember this is an all ages spa too. So next time you plan to spend a few hours here, eat something before you enter cuz once you get in, you'll see dollar signs left and right. We used to enjoy Spa Castle, it was friendly with Korean hospitality and was a nice facility with decent food and all kinds of spa services. Today we went to check it out, maybe 8-10 years since we were there last. So first off the price is now $50.00 for weekdays 60.00 for the weekends. Ok.. inflation adjusted. Now there are no comfort uniforms, nothing, Bring your own clothes, bring your own towel, or pay 10.00 to buy one. You need to sign a waiver to get entry, you need a photo id AND they want to take your photo for "security purposes" , besides being unfriendly at the entrance and not providing a towels with $50.00 admission, plus needing your own bathing suit (which I had) it was too much of a turn off to proceed with admission. Maybe they need to change the name to Gulag 11 as it is on 11th Street. Or maybe Gross Morality Issues Spa, After reading the poor reviews of violations, it is nothing like what used to be when they were newly opened and fresh. We left and found another spa to relax at, we contracted for the additional body scrub and massage services x 2, Spa Castle failed here, probably something that happens frequently. read more

$50pp via Groupon. It was promoted as a grand re-opening. It was supposedly a multi-million dollar renovation. I stopped coming because it got crowded and people who were not following rules and rules were not enforced. I had many good memories when this place first opened, but the last 2 times (10 years ago) wasn't really a bad one but it wasn't as good as it once was. I thought I'd give it a second chance. Mistake. They don't give out loungewear, only 1 robe. So people were wearing their swimwear! So they would go to the pool but then would lounge on the bean bags afterwards. They would leave a trail of chlorine butt water in the sauna. Disgusting! The outside 2nd floor heated pool area and sauna was still under renovation. Why would you call this a grand re-opening then?? There were also other minor parts still under renovation. They took away the heating floor sleeping area (which was my favorite) and replaced it with a lot of lounge chairs, tables and seating areas. The lounge chairs were stained. Food quantity was served much less than years ago, still good nonetheless. My favorite part here was the food and food service. Unfortunately, I would not come back. read more

My bathing suit lost all of its color and I was immediately concerned for the safety of everyone in the water, especially the children. My body is super itchy. It was my first time at castle spa and it will probably be my last. This is my third year with this bathing suit and I visits different spas In The tristate area and have never seen a bathing suit get discolored this quickly (I was only there about 3 hours) I spoke to the front desk their response was we check the pool every 2 hours. Spa castle is not how it was used to be. They don't give you a towel anymore or change of clothes!!! Luckily me and my girlfriend brought bikinis and were comfortable enough to walk around the place. The lights are dimmed super low and they charge $9.99 for a damn towel. What kind of spa place charge for a towel?!? At least lower admission to like $20 or something, would not pay $60 again. Honestly, the place is not that bad and offers something for everyone. Came on a Saturday for one of my sorority sisters birthdays and we had a good time! It might have been because we enjoyed each others company but once you walk in, you pay and they give you a "watch" with a number which corresponds to your locker number. Once inside you will be asked to put you shoes in one small locker before proceeding to the bigger lock where you could put the rest of your belongings including your wallet. Anything you purchase inside is charged to your watch and you pay when you leave. The locker area itself is an open space so if you did not wear your bathing suit underneath your clothes you can either change in front of everyone or sneak into the bathroom to change. And yes you are barefoot the entire time unless you get their slippers and you will see naked people in the locker room lol Downstairs they have a nude section and upstairs you will find different type of saunas and places to eat. Two of the girls decided to get a full body massage and scrubs and from what they told us it was definitely an experience! Be prepared to be fully nude prior to your massage and I think the website gives you the heads up. We definitely tried each one of their saunas as each one has a different purpose and some are hotter than others. If you go all the way upstairs, you will see different pool areas both inside and outside as well as a bar. Typical NY prices where a glass of wine is about $12 and a mixed drink $16. They also had enclosed Jacuzzis that you can rent and have some private time. We all thought that was interesting to say the least! lol We grabbed a drink and decided to hit the pool outside. Yes it was freezing cold and it ended up snowing but since the pool was heated we stayed outside for awhile! The pools have these jets that you can pretty much set off on your own which was nice. Overall, we had a great time! We didn't eat there since we had dinner reservations back in Jersey but would definitely go back but perhaps when it is warmer outside :) read more

The staff here is rude, annoying, and intrusive. I've been here many of times. I know you're not supposed to wear your shoes. I was in the shoe locker area trying to find my locker number and the woman yelled at me when she thought I was getting too close to the barefoot area. I told her I was trying to find my locker number to which she rudely responded "it's down there!!". Later once I was done. I was changing my clothes. Usually I bring a plastic bag to put my wet bathing suit in but I forgot it. So instead I used the blow dryer (at a distance) to dry out my bathing suit a little. The same women yells at me saying "THE BLOW DRYER IS FOR YOUR HAIR!! DONT DO THAT!!". Then I go to the shoe area so I can leave and she just stares at me the entire time. She was actually facing me (which is away from the counter) and staring at me. Also I got a service done with a friend. My friend asked me how much of a tip I was leaving, before I could answer, the woman tells us "you have to leave the minimum of $9". Are you kidding me? I know for service it's customary to leave 15%-20% and I left 20% but to have her barge in our conversation and tell us how much of our money we had to give is outrageous. Lastly. I have been to Spa Castle dozens of times prior to the pandemic However two days ago I visited for the first time and it was extremely disappointing and quite frankly a palled at the condition and the clientele that now frequence Spa Castle Hot tubs drained of water and filled with garbage, exposed electrical wiring, lack of services, pools with crumbling walls of tile just laying on the bottom etc. I was wondering why their price was still $50 and it soon became apparent as there are no more uniforms and not even a water cooler to get a drink of water as you go in and out of the saunas read more

Was there in January 2022 and March 2022 and was very disappointed both times. There is no longer anyone there midweek to do a body scrub, a few of the showers were non working, the jets that are operating by push buttons in the men's locker room area spa tub were broken, and during the March visit, these same issues had not been addressed and in addition one soaking pool had no water and the sauna was freezing inside even though steam was being produced. If they expect to stay in business, they need to get it together and fix the place up. Apparently though, word is out on the street because it was relatively empty both times I was there. read more

To be completely honest, this was the LEAST relaxing experience I've had in a long time. First of all, we came here for the GRAND RE-OPENING but it's more like pay $70 for a viewing party of all the amenities that aren't ready/ can't be used yet. All outdoor pools are closed. The only pool available for 400+ people was the little indoor pool that holds 15 people comfortably max and is absolutely filthy with particles floating all around the water. I had to immediately get out and run to the showers. Where there was no body wash. The indoor pools/ hot tubs inside of the locker rooms felt like kids water park. Surrounded by screaming children spashling and kicking water all over me. The amount of children running around in the common area really makes it impossible for you to enjoy yourself. Side note, extremely bright white cool toned LED lightbulbs where you feel like you're in a hospital. Not the vibes. I actually had an anxiety attack from all the noise and clutter of people and had to leave. read more

Even post renovation it won't be affordable to be general public or the local community when they reopen. Weekday post tax without consuming anything will now run you $100. They will not survive at this rate because it will cost almost $130 per person on the weekends. I can only imagine what the food and beverages will be because they were crazy priced already. The staff ask you to take off your outer cloths and you receive short, T-shirt,and towel. Third, naked area was great, best part of the spa.
