I've had very hit or miss massages here, from being the best value massages in LA to being the worst. I get the east meets west because it's a great combination of firm and soft massage. Normally they'll focus on one area while still being comprehensive in massaging other areas of the body. Some visits I'll have a really great masseuse who even focuses on range of motion as a concern which is fantastic. Last visit, I had a gruff, unfriendly masseuse who, from the get-go, had little concern for my well being. She started by asking if she could stand on my back, to which I politely declined, and then immediately as the first move of the day proceeded to climb onto my upper thighs instead. I started off upset, as I would not have consented to *any* standing work had she asked. The remainder of the appointment was so aggressive, even when I expressed I was uncomfortable. When she started the hand massage, she pulled my first finger so hard out of the joint that I cried out in pain, and instead of apologizing, she threw my hand down and moved onto a different body part (skipping the entire hand massage). She was also really invasive in the groin/glute area that left me so uncomfortable :( I would've written this off as a one-time thing but the staff handled the situation poorly. I tried tipping 15% (shoutout for tipping at all!!) and they frankly kept refusing and adding 20-25% to my credit card. I had to separately request for the Venmo of the masseuse to avoid tipping their suggested amount which I found really pushy and unnecessary. In addition to the staff rescheduling my appointment time each visit, I've unfortunately reached my limit and won't be returning. read more

My first time here! Appointment available at the time requested. Great phone/front desk service. They made sure to ask and verify what type of body work I needed. The place is very quiet, clean and pleasant. My body worker Sarah was very thoughtful in making sure I was comfortable and she is very strong! I kept getting a calf cramp and she helped immensely. I'm a runner and a hairdresser so I'm pretty wrecked. I left feeling taller and relaxed. My particular needs are more on the therapeutic side and this was not a relaxing massage. I've been coming here for many years and it has always been a great experience. I like when I walk in it smells great and that they added a couples room so my friend and I can be in the same room and get a treatment together. Pricing has always been reasonable because the area is pretty nice, I thought it would be more. I tried a hot stone treatment recently and it really helped with the knots I have on my back. I also asked to use cbd to help with relaxing and releasing the tension, it was a little bit extra, but so is the pain I have. Truly have had some of the best massages of my life here. The Absolute Relief Massage is so healing and combines so many different amazing techniques (from hot stones to fluid motions) that really feel like they're melting your stress away. My favorite massage therapist (here and anywhere) is Yaya -- she is SO talented it blows me away. She moves like a ninja and has the touch of an angel. She's somehow able to maneuver through the room and through the treatment in complete silence and with expert agility and fluidity and give massages that feel like they're being given by multiple people at once. Sometimes I don't even know where she is or with what she is massaging me but it's always so perfectly done. From hand to hot stone to hot towel to anything else it all feels like one stress relieving magical organism tailor made to heal me. It's so out of body! One of the most intuitive massage therapists I've ever had, with just the right pressures and speed throughout. Truly an expert touch and a treasure. Beyond that - I love coming here because the parking situation is so easy (there's a parking lot and often spots right in front of the door, and the luxury of convenient parking in LA can never be overstated), the front desk ladies are so kind, warm, and helpful, the ambience in the lobby, bathroom, and in the rooms is wonderful, and without even paying for aromatherapy the rooms always smell so nice and relaxing. And any time I've needed anything like a change in temperature they've been so accommodating. I just had the best massage from Miko! 80 minutes of combo heaven on earth on a rainy Sunday afternoon. She was present and incredibly skilled. She was strong, yet tender, and very engaged. Not only did the masseuse not concentrate on the areas I requested, it's almost as if they went out of their way to not focus on my listed problem areas. I came to this place because of the rating, but ratings can be deceiving. There's clearly a theme of rather forcefully suggesting clients to tip well over 30 percent ( I'm a generous tipper and I still tipped 50 percent on an 80 minute session, only because I have class and knew I wouldn't be coming back). This place will never have 5 stars with this dare I say scummy behavior from the staff as they'd prefer to nickel and dime their way out of ever having return customers. The place is clean and the massage wasn't bad. What's making the overall experience subpar for us are two things. 1. The suggest tip sign was pretty in your face and the minimum tier is 30%. The front desk lady made a point to call out the sign. I would much rather the place charge more up front and not pushing for a minimum 30% tip. 2. Also related to price transparency. They don't tell you they charge 3% service charge if you use credit card to pay. I had to find out when I reviewed my credit card statement and noticed the variance. It's pretty rare for a place to make customers cover credit card service charge nowadays especially when the total bill is $300. (And not let the customer know about it) Overall, just feel like we were nickel and dimed through the process and not the bad transparency. read more

NOT LGBTQ FRIENDLY We booked our couples massage earlier in the week and arrived early. They even called to confirm that we were indeed getting a couples massage. We said yes, and booked. Only to arrive early, and the girl at the front desk confirm our couples massage, led us to a couples room, only return two minutes later while we are half undressed to tell us that the room was no longer available. We were embarrassed, forced to redress and leave the room, only to find that they were escorting a straight couple in the room (who had obviously come in AFTER us). Absolutely horrible. After a lot of back and fourth we got separate massages because we really needed them, but honestly could not relax because of how upset we were. If you are a LGBTQ DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Sad to update my 5-star review to 1-star. It's hard to find a reliable deep tissue massage place since masseuses differ greatly. I still swear by Steve and also Jeannie, but beyond them, I've had horrific experiences that could cause damage to my body. The catty attitude of the front desk adds insult to potential injury. When I made my appointment yesterday morning for that evening, I specifically requested Steve since I need, verbatim, "someone who specializes in deep tissue massage for extreme knots in upper back, and Steve is familiar with my specific back issues." The receptionist said he was available and booked me for 7pm. When I arrived, they almost acted as if an appointment had never been made and didn't even ask my name. A random woman showed me back to my room, and when I asked about Steve, she informed me that today is his day off. Annoyed I had been misinformed, I still wanted to give her a chance. Another masseuse here had bruised my shoulder girdle by not understanding the difference between bone and muscle, but still, maybe there was hope. Alack. My poor back. This masseuse clearly did not specialize in deep tissue, attempting to simply rub my back. When I tried to coach her through the massage and then asked for more pressure, she actually laughed and said she was incapable of applying more. Uhhh...? So I could have saved a trip and achieved better results lying on tennis balls at home... When the masseuse started to apply pressure from my upper back all the way down to my low back, and was just about to press down directly on my sacrum, I finally ended the session (about 10 minutes in). Applying pressure to the low back is a great way to injure the lumbar spine. Zero apologies from the front desk as to the scheduling confusion (or ahem, blatant lie. I'm being euphemistic). I asked the receptionist who I had spoken to on the phone earlier, curious why I had been told Steve was available when he wasn't. "Oh, you talked to me." "So if today is Steve's day off, why was I told otherwise?" "Oh no, I told you he's not available today." False, because 1) Uh, I remember 2) Had I known this, I would have booked a massage elsewhere. I don't think the customer is ALWAYS right, but in this situation, I absolutely was. Don't attempt to lie to me about a phone call we had earlier that afternoon, acting like I'm making it up. I know better than to waste energy arguing with this lack of professionalism and complete rudeness, and would rather prevent others from having the same experience. Yelpers, consider yourself warned and don't break your back making an appointment here. --------- Aghhh. Currently walking home after another incredible body-restoring deep tissue massage. As I write this long overdue review, I'm moving like an actual human being--fluidly and painlessly--instead of creaking along like the Frankenstein robot I had been just one hour before. If you suffer from stubborn knots that would stump even an elite Eagle Scout troop, Spa De La is your place. Steve demonstrates extraordinary knowledge of the human body and anatomy. He masterfully maneuvers muscles to reach those aching knots and applies the perfect amount of pressure to release them. He's also extremely receptive to feedback. Most places I try, I beg for more pressure the entire session--with Steve, I need only mention this once. Chiropractic Health & Wellness Center (with Tony) is my other go-to spot but it closes at 6pm. I'm so relieved to finally find a place open late that understands a deep tissue massage isn't just slathering oil over my entire body. No more bending over to find that magical massage: move better, sleep better, feel better--for $60/hour. Tip accordingly. read more

I came back here for another 60 minute Swedish massage and Tammy was not the masseuse for me. It was the most incredibly painful and brutal massage of my life. It definitely was not the relaxing Swedish massage that I had hoped for and needed. Instead, Tammy was absolutely determined to get all of my shoulder knots out and would stop at nothing to do so. I kept having to tell her to go softer on her pressure, I asked her to stop a few times because whatever she was doing on my back and shoulders were so so so painful and she would just chuckle and tell me about my knots, ignoring me and not easing off. I was so thankful for the 60 minutes to be over. I'd still be back to this massage place but I know to only ask for Steve now, whom I had the first time I was here. read more
