This one was standard offering a Thai traditional massage (no oil) Thai/Swedish and Deep tissue massage. I went with the combo and at first it wasn't very deep. I asked for them to walk on me but they didn't do much of that. They did really get i to the knots in my legs which was a first for me and beautiful torture. A few notes: They ask you to switch to their slippers during the massage. The massage rooms are very small with no spot for your clothes so bring a gym bag or tote to hold them during your massage. The rooms do not go to the ceiling. You can hear other clients and masseuses during your appointment. I was surprised how reasonable the price was. It was similar to little Saigon in Orange County. They only do them on Fridays FYI and the woman who did it, i think her name was Pookie? She was so gentle and kind. From literally showing me how to position myself sideways in the bed to checking in with me every so often how i was doing and if i needed more or less pressure and kindly telling me afterwards not to be alarmed if i get a little sore in the morning because it's normal. I have never been treated so sweetly during a massage. Not to mention, they only charged me $75 for an hour. I wanted to treat myself today because I had a hard week. This place was recommended to me & the reviews seemed great so I gave the 90 min deep tissue a try with the masseuse "MAKI". During our session I mentioned 3 times that I needed more pressure as this was a deep tissue treatment. After the 3rd time I didn't press further so I won't make her feel bad as if she didn't know her job. You'd expect a masseuse would be fresh & not beat for an 11am massage nevertheless her pressure never did it for me. In addition, some of that stinging/cooling menthol had gone into my eye from the towel she put on my face & if you're paying for a relaxing self care day, a burning eye definitely takes away from it. I didn't complain cuz I didn't want to be "that annoying customer". Hospitable & nice people here but the massage "MAKI" gave me didn't do much for me even though I called prior to booking and "TAMMY" insured that their therapists are "strong" for deep tissue work. Every time I brought my car to the car wash next door I kept telling myself I need to go and try that place something tells me it's good. So I finally made it and my only regret is not booking for 90 minutes instead of 60 min :( My masseuse was amazing, she was so soft spoken and gave me a feeling of relaxation at first meet. The guy at front desk also so nice! I got the Swedish massage and she used hot stones which I had never had before and I loved it. Since it was my first time I wanted to try a massage I was familiar with and now that I have experience it here I will be trying the deep tissue next time since my experience was positive. It worked out perfectly, my car got washed as I was getting pampered and by the time I was done my car was also ready. I've been to this place about 5 times. And they have all been almost the same experience. Parking sucks, their interior decor is really outdated... carpet outdated! For the volume they receive I would expect for this place to be remodeled into a more modern vibe. They provide you with slippers upon your arrival. I'm hesitant to wear these when I go because I haven't seen these being disinfected after use. Another fact to point out is the noise level! It's ridiculous! You can hear traffic and the staff talking out loud, oh and people snoring lol. Why do I keep coming back you may ask? Well because their massages are not bad. Coco. Amazing. I've been meaning to try this place out for a while, but the tiny parking lot was daunting... finally was able to go 3 days ago, right before Newsom re-shut these places down. I am so lucky I we did. They take cleanliness SERIOUSLY. Lysol on the floor mats before we step up to measure our temp then shoes off before we walk into the lobby. I felt super safe here as they were super careful. I'm in the medical field and SUPER cautious about safety but they took every precaution. I was lead to a room with a curtain and given a tie in the back tank and a pair of baggy shorts. The clothes were in a sterilizer and I saw her take the outfit out before giving them to me. My masseuse was Celine and I loved her. I like a LOT of pressure/deep tissue and she was able to go deep. She used lots of oil to prevent friction which sometimes happens when you're doing that deep tissues. The hot stones at the end were a nice touch. Every body part was completely relaxed... She went straight to knots...sensing them with perfect sensibility of pressure, working them and stretching muscles that contained the knots. She had a lovely touch also even with the hot stones which i usually find too hot and exciting. Now i have a new place to go in addition to where ive hone on the westside (LAX Massage and Marina Massage) which ive gone to for years. Love my weekly massages here. I had a couple of favorites when I started visiting them last year. But after a few more visits, it was clear each one of the masseuse working here are great at what they do. I have been to many luxury massage places for women. I look for (1) cleanliness - very, very important, (2) staff professionalism - ranks up there with cleanliness, and (3) facilities/ amenities - heated bed, quality oil products, privacy, quiet factor. Royal Thai is absolutely the place for those wanting a massage that makes them feel like royalty. 5 stars on cleanliness and staff professionalism, and 4 star for amenities. One area for improvement is the small facility - I sometimes hear other customers as they finish up their massages and talk to their masseuse. There is also very limited parking space outside. The price cannot be beat - $55 for one-hour massage. Most of the comparable massage places around LA and near Royal Thai are for the same price...for 30 minutes only. I love their restroom, again very clean, and also very homey. Apart from that, my favorite masseuse is Aww - not like painful aaww, but more like wow! I wish I remember all their names but many of them are quite unique (native to Thailand maybe) and not very easy to remember. Shoutout to all of the great employees at Royal Thai! I've came here about a handful of times and each time was a good experience, I've always asked for markie, she's great with her hands, does different massage techniques and uses hot stones. I would walk out feeling nice and relaxed. Unfortunately 6/19 I came and got a massage with a lady named "kay kay", she used her elbow literally the entire massage. She started off really digging her elbows into my back which was really painful and asked her to go softer. I did not enjoy the massage at all and when I got up I had a sudden sharp pain coming from my lower back that was never there. I'm still experiencing this sharp pain that is making it difficult for me to move normally. Now I have to seek medical attention. Please be aware of who you let massage you. Not every masseuse is a professional one. I came in wanting a relaxing massage and walked out with very sharp pain in my lower back that hasn't subsided. read more
