Called and asked the price for a couples massage, the lady on the phone quoted 100$ total for a couples massage. Then when we arrived they changed the price to $100 per person, which was not what we were previously told. They proceeded to laugh and talk bad behind mine and my fiancés back as we left which I know because I have apples live translation with my AirPods. Very unwelcoming and rude and dishonest. Place also seemed unsanitary with a weird smell. I have my license in cosmetology and know how some things should be sanitized and kept. I saw some things that would be against the California's sanitation regulations. Edit: Owner replied to my comment and is lying, when we called we asked two times if it was $100 for a couples massage and they said yes. (My fiancé was on the phone and it was on speaker) so I heard everything that was said. When we arrived we said we were there for the massage and only THEN did they say the couples massage was $200. If you call a massage place and ask how much a couples massage is and are told $100, you don't assume it's $100 per person, the whole point of a "couples" massage is for two people. I would have happily paid $200 if that's what we were told on the phone, but when we arrived and were blindly told it would be $200 rather than $100 you immediately feel like you betrayed and lied to. Then the two ladies up front began to laugh as we were leaving. (The front door is right next to the counter they were standing at.) That was very unprofessional and felt like they were laughing at us, even if it was a different situation where it would have been a misunderstanding....who laughs at someone for that. I called 7 other places and they quoted me the total cost of the service, anywhere from 140-180$. You should say 100$ per person. Also you guys were laughing at us and speaking behind our back. No need to lie about that as we clearly heard you. Don't assume what languages people can understand - there are also a lot of translation devices nowadays that you may not be aware of. If I ask how much is a dinner a service for 2 people you either say the total cost for 2 or you say the cost per person but clarify that is the PER person cost. I've been here a couple of times and every time I walk out post-massage feeling loose with less upper body discomfort. I came in because I was having really bad shoulder and neck pain due to prolonged poor posture while working. These muscles were very tight and when I pressed and gave myself a little rub it felt very lumpy with what sounded like popping. I usually get the Thai combination massage because I need the masseuse the get into those tight areas. I'm not going to lie this massage is no joke and even though they ask if the pressure is ok or too much. I just go with it because I know I will be better for it. I have even almost cried, but again I would shed a little tear because the relief that follows from constant discomfort before the massage at Serene Thai is worth it. It's a chill spot, simple. Nestled in a small shopping center with tight parking. There is also a parking lot behind the center and street parking. The Price point for 60 - 90 minute massages is really LOW. A massage at a regular spa would cost 75-150$ per hour, so TIP accordingly and cash tips are highly encouraged. read more

I came here for the first time last week and this was one of the best massages I've received in a while. I went to my appt and there was no parking in the lot so I was just circling the establishment - the guy who booked my appt called me and offered his parking spot in the back which already is above and beyond what any other establishment would do. The massage was crazy!! I feel like places will advertise their massage as a Thai massage but this is very legit. The masseuse got on my back and started walking and it was sooo good! And relaxing. Prices are pretty reasonable, they have instructions in the rooms. They have signs asking for a 30-50% tip which is a little off putting initially but they won't make you feel bad if you don't. And I don't blame them for trying. This is a great way to decompress and in my opinion once of the best in the area. read more

I get massages often so I am a frequent flier. I love to try new places because every location has its pros and cons. The best full spa can always be found at the nicest hotels. A step down from that is the standalone locations for spa and massage and then a step below that is just a massage business in usually a retail center. So I knew what to expect coming into this massage. Overall it was pretty good but could have been better in each category. Mainly giving 4 stars because my masseuse worked hard (she never mentioned her name) but I paid for a 2 hour deep tissue massage and she did a 2 hour Thai massage instead. I like Thai massages too but she used her feet about 85% of the massage so I really missed the hand techniques and stretching that I usually experience. Will break down my visit into the pros and cons so you can decide. PRO: the pricing is very fair, almost a dollar a minute so it would be hard to find many cheaper options out there. From what I saw it was clean inside and in my room and I like how it's attached to a free parking lot as I was able to find a space right out front. Also my masseuse worked very hard and even though she didn't speak English, or had a diverse skill set, she still put in the effort. CON: as mentioned I paid for a deep tissue and got a Thai massage using almost exclusively her feet and walking on me. I like that to start but after an hour+ of that you are just screaming for it to mix up a bit. The walls in each room do not go to the ceiling so it's easy to hear other people and the employees as sounds travel easily. Also, I'm 6'3" and they have one of the smallest massage tables I have ever been on, my feet hung off the end the entire massage. Overall a nice experience but wish I would have received the services I requested and paid for. Still searching for my perfect mix so I don't plan to be back here again, but would recommend to anyone to give it a try at least once, but with reserved expectations. read more

It was more than that they incorporated stretch, aromatherapy, effleurage massage , face and scalp massage in addition to full body massage. We were asked to pay for the services before the massage. They offer cheaper rate if you pay cash. We were asked to take off shoes and put on their slippers. We were offered the couple room. Daughter and I took it. The massage rooms are separated by a wall. With curtain doors. I had Gina. She was great. Starts with warm towel in back and neck and feet. She asked me what I wanted work on. They didn't ask my "hurt areas". I have a bad neck and lower back so I had her to be gentle. She was strong and recognized area that were tight because she let up when stepping on my back. However, My upper arms/biceps/triceps were sensitive to her pressure and asked to lighten up. She understood and followed thru. I loved the eucalyptus oil aromatherapy and temple/scalp massage. They massaged thru a towel on my hair so my hair didn't get oil. I have plantar fasciitis and that foot massage cut thru the adhesions. It felt so good. They had us sit up crossed legged and massaged our neck even more, stretched our arms reaching back and our pecs. Love this..working on computer that stretch was needed. I came out feeling loose and stretched relaxed. I would definitely go again. I A We tip afters as usual and there is recommended tip sheet posted every where. Oh. I asked for a woman to massage. Serene Thai Spa was a serious GAME CHANGER to my massage preferences! I opted for the 90 minute combination massage and it was worth every penny. I made an appointment in advance just to be safe and was seen right away. The facility is quiet and clean plus they give you slippers to wear once you go back into the massage rooms. The website did say the masseuse could walk on your body upon request but it did feel like that was done regardless; but it was the type of "pain" that you know will feel great and SERENE once you were done. I opted to add hot stones for an additional $10 which was very much worth it. My massage lasted the full 90 minutes and it was full of just the right amounts of stretching. My masseuses bones cracked more than mine probably did overall. Parking was free and there is a somewhat small lot where you could park up to 90 minutes (I believe) which was convenient. Front desk triple booked therapists as I overheard the receptionist apologize to customers, my therapist was 30 mins late, receptionist doesn't speak English well enough to communicate, it's one shared space in the back and you can hear each customer complain to their therapist. I listened to guy complain his therapist wasn't massing his glutes and she says she does not massage private areas, they turn on lights in the middle of your massage to clean the other spaces (remember one big shared space split up by dividers). All this to say, go to Sense Wellness Thai Spa off Vine and Melrose, much better customer service, same prices, better experiences. Ask for Marsha, Apple or Tim. I tried this new place out because they were all booked last week. Also lingering pain following the massage is what prompted this review. Don't go there. At first things were pretty relaxing but the ladies who were massaging us were talking to each other and kept whispering which did distract from the whole experience. My massage therapist's name was Ellie. Phenomenal!!!All I told her was I like hard pressure & she blew me away. Terrified at first but they have bars w material tied to it for her to hang on to while she can adjust the pressure of her weight. It was amazing! Came here for a foot massage on a Sunday at 4pm. All of their foot massage chairs are right at the front where everyone walks in and also by the reception desk. I would highly recommend not coming here for a foot massage if you are really trying to relax. It was noisy the ENTIRETY of my service. People eating in the room right next to the massage area.. loud sounds of utensils hitting bowls and washing dishes. The receptionist and other workers there were talking/yelling/laughing loudly from the reception desk all the way to the back area. No regards for their customers.
