Did the intelligent massage and it was amazing. Helped my posture as well as back and neck pain. I thought the pool was included if you're going to the spa but it isn't unless you're a hotel guest, so that was the only reason for one star less. The website advertises as though the pool is included. The tea/lounge/waiting area could be a bit nicer. It's very open and could use more privacy. There is also only flavored water and no tea or coffee as they have in other spas. The vitality pool in the area is a nice Jacuzzi pool. The steam room could use a good cleaning or a good renovation. Lots of rusty and discolored spots. I would mainly go back for the massage again, not really for the amenities. read more

I'd never been to a Mandarin Oriental Hotel before today, but I always knew that Mandarin Hotels are considered high end. So I had pretty high expectations for their spa. In the end, the spa decor and ambiance was extremely basic and felt dated...certainly not what I was expecting of a Mandarin Oriental. The dressing room/changing area was just 'eh'. And the relaxation area, with lounge chairs? The chairs were very close together...little feeling of privacy...not very relaxing or zen...and even the running water feature that was in the room was not relaxing at all. In fact, the running water sound was Too Loud, so as to in no way be relaxing. The showers and the sauna were also just 'eh'. As for my service, I got some type of ayervedic treatment that included a full body sloughing, a foot massage and essential oils rubbed into my head/hair. I got this service from a woman named Galina, and I will say....Galina was spectacular. read more

Came here to spend a quiet peaceful time on my bday and I truly fell in love with this spa. Everyone was very friendly when I was there. The facility was kept very clean and not crowded the day i went. I was able to enjoy the whirlpool and the steam room all to myself. The water in the whirlpool was oxygen infused and I love being in there. They also let me enjoy the swimming pool even though it is only open to hotel guest due to some booking issue, i was able to enjoy all the facilities and I spent half a day there. I spent over $400 there so its definitely a once in awhile type luxury but I hope to come back every year! read more

VIP Suite: Came here for the VIP Couple's Escape. I can't remember if it was 3 or 4 hours. We arrived after lunch on Saturday and left by dinner. We had a private 650 sq ft suite that had city views facing the NW direction, a really nice bubble bath, a steam shower, an Oriental bed for lounging, bathroom, and massage tables. They gave us some time to enjoy the bubble bath, which had a really nice bowl of fruit/figs, and bottles of water next to it. It was hard to keep track of time - there was no clock. After the massage, we got bentos served in the Oriental bed. We were looking forward to this, but have to say it was very very mediocre. I expected more for the price. Massage: Our therapists were good and very nice. I fell asleep. Everything is customizable - the window shades, the music, and type of massage. The massage bed was really comfortable. Spa Amenities: I got here first and there was an open lounge/lobby with tea and fruit beyond the front desk. This was a really small lounge, definitely for waiting, not lounging. I'm not sure if this was called the tea lounge. After you check-in, you store everything in a locker and change into a robe. The locker room has many stalls and everything you'd need to get ready. You are free to enjoy the steam room, pool (it looked really small), relaxation lounge, and showers afterwards. I spent most of my time in the relaxation lounge, which is separated for the genders. It faces Central Park, has snacks, comfy lounge chairs/beds, and has a fountain. What was a downer is that there were women who kept on talking so it did not feel that relaxing. Also, it reached capacity quickly and was over capacity at some points. I'm not sure if they have any capacity controls. (I think the hotel guests can use the amenities too). Pricing: I didn't have to pay for this. It was gifted. I think the pricing is more on the ridiculous side. While I am very thankful for the gift, I am happier spending much less for a massage with less frills in a less prime location. The price is not for the faint of heart, BUT you will have an amazing massage and/or facial. I wish I'd remember the masseuse or the estheticians name, because they were top rate. This place is luxurious and relaxing. I don't care for the ritualistic treatments of washing the feet and some of the time ritual packages. I feel its a waste of time/money. I left feeling relaxed and content. I do wish they'd have the option of ordering food while in the relaxation room. I think they may have a lunch option if you order it in advance or something? I've been there a few times. I couldn't really relax when there were a lot of people. but other times I was alone in the relaxation room with perhaps one other person and it was divine. It was a bummer that I dropped my phone in the bathroom and the screen broke, but that isn't effecting my rating obviously. some good quality tiles, lol. I loved my visit here. It was definitely beautiful. When you walk in the views are breath taking. The lounge area is very quiet and peaceful. The plunge pool and saunas was very nice. The massage was average, nothing special sadly. We just had a nice time and enjoyed our time together. read more

My major complaints include the lack of communication I wish that when they called to confirm the reservation, they would tell me that the steam room was broken! Especially considering the experience costed $350+ for two people. Also the massage was subpar. When I explain that I have had lower back and IT-band tightness, I'd expect they'd concentrate on that rather than my calves? Unsatisfactory spa conditions: The spa was unclean, with floating debris visible on the water's surface (I took photos of patches oils or creams floating in the water). Old cups and towels were scattered everywhere. They include gratuities in advance, even with this level of service. Customers who spent $300++ had limited access to the sauna and no access to the pool. The management's response to the provided evidence was indifferent. Not recommended. read more

The hubby booked us massages at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental as a birthday gift for me. Let me tell you, this was a first class experience! When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who gave us a warm towel for our hands - very much appreciated on this chilly December morning. We were then given a tray with slippers (our shoes went in the tray). The hubby and I were escorted through the spa and shown the various amenities. Here are some of the highlights: Highly oxygenated pool (aka massage pool) - the hubby enjoyed this very much. I didn't use the pool because I don't like sitting where other naked people have sat before me, but that is how I roll. It looked immaculate. Steam room - again the hubby really loved. I don't like hot humid air so I didn't indulge. Relaxation area with treats and tea - I loved this The hubby had the hot stone massage, which he said was terrific. I had the aromatherapy massage which was amazing! We both came from our treatments extremely relaxed and happy! To be fully transparent, this is not a budget outfit. Be prepared to shell out serious coin for treatments at this spa. If you are a spa aficionado like me, it is definitely worth it. If you are a Massage Envy type of person, this is probably not for you. read more

Incredibly disappointed. I've had a number of massages here which have always been wonderful. Today was certainly subpar. Supposedly the sound system was out and so the music in the room was interrupted twice by commercials. My massage was interrupted by fumbling with the sound system and talking. When it happened again, the music just was shut off and it was awkwardly silent, and my mood a relaxation was less than optimal. The massage itself was fine, certainly not the best I have had here. At checkout, I expressed my experience with the front desk who simply apologized once. Offered me water to go and two chocolates. I appreciate the sentiment, but for a massage to be $300+ , and then this happens, not ok in my book. Sad to say this will not be my go to spa in NYC anymore, nor will I recommend it any more as I have many a time to friends. read more

Quite obviously this is going to be a five star experience; it's the Mandarin Oriental. I've visited this hotel before and am just a fan of this kind of decadence. Maybe in my next life I"ll be born rich enough to set up residence in this hotel. I hope it's still around when I reincarnate. I went in for the Oriental Harmony Experience and had my own private suite and it was just amazing. Everyone is so kind and accommodating. As I sat waiting to be led back to the spa area I was given a warm towel and a cup of their amazing hibiscus tea. It was a welcome way to start this rainy day. I was taken back and given slipper and a robe (you get the slippers before you go back, actually) and my own locker to store my things then show around the beautiful spa area. I first visited the area with the steam room and vitality pool and it was so relaxing. I didn't want to leave the steam room. Ahhhhhhh. Next I relaxed in a room overlooking the city on a comfortable chaise lounge. I was then led back to my own suite with an amazing soaking tub. A basket of fruit and bottled water was right on the side where I completely indulged while I sat in this amazing bubble bath. I showered in a shower that I would love to have in my future-life mansion when I return. Everything just oozes beauty and class at this spa. It was time for my 'four-handed' massage, which is two therapists doing the massage at one time. I liken it to synchronized massage. I literally could not tell if it was one person or two people doing the massage at times. Disconcerting, but incredibly relaxing. They started with a foot bath and my choice of massage oil that smelled divine. My therapists spoke in low, soothing tones and with explanations about everything that would happen. I was completely relaxed and ready. First a body scrub with salt, then a quick rinse then back to the table where I got THE best massage I've ever had in my life. With both massaging each side of my body in sync with the other I fell into a deeply relaxed state. In the end I fell asleep and didn't even realize that they were done! It was amazing. I did feel a little ill afterward, but I think that's amazing. My body was so soft from the scrub and I slept like a baby. It was an out-of-this-world experience that I highly recommend. Afterward I had time in my suite for a bento box lunch with spicy edamame and a seaweed/shrimp salad that was heavenly. It was the perfect ending to the perfect spa experience. My husband surprised me with a spa day here. Didn't even know until the morning of the treatment. So I do not know anything about the booking process (I saw some negative reviews about it). As stated before, this is the Mandarin Oriental, I had high expectations :-) I read briefly about the service prior to arriving, but that's it. When I saw my therapist for the day-Missy-she explained all the steps and she was so attentive to every need. I was very blown away by her passion. You can tell she loved her job. I got the "Clearing Factor" a detox treatment that included lymphatic massages on face and body, lymphatic cupping on back. A scrub and an organic wrap. The bed was adjustable and SUPER comfortable. They used an unique treatment line that is exclusive to the MO ( I forgot the name) but it's great! I should have purchased some. Every amenity was very enjoyable. I did not have issues with really anything. The shower experience was nice when you dip out of the oxygen Infused whirlpool (love the metal bars in the pool btw) and steam room. The tea lounge for waiting is beautiful. I looked at every tea pot there. The relaxation room has a fully stocked snack bar where you can make your own granola mix. The lounge chairs are to die for! I think what makes this such an experience is being on a high floor and having such a great view. Oh they ended the treatment with a fresh organic green smoothie made by the chef.... it was delicious. I would definitely come back..... yes it is $$$$$ .... so maybe not too soon! LOL read more

I submitted an appointment request online this past Monday for the "Urban Serenity" package, and received no follow-up call or email from The Spa at Mandarin Oriental regarding availability. The website indicated that they'd follow up within 24 hours to confirm the time. I finally reached out again today (Thursday afternoon) by phone. After being re-directed several times, I reach someone who says that they "probably weren't able to book my package due to no instructor availability". I will be in NYC for a short weekend trip, and now have little time to look for a comparable service elsewhere :( This spa may be beautiful & relaxing, but the customer service and web interface aren't great! WOOOOOOW. The service was perfection and really truly completed the Mandarin experience. Expect an over-the-top greeting complete with tea service :) The spa facilities themselves are variable. Overall the locker room and shower area was small and slightly dated. The shower and sauna/jacuzzi area was slightly above average, but there was nothing special. The RELAXATION ROOM is absolutely unforgettable. The temperpedic couch beds are amazingly comfortable with soft pillows. You feel like you are floating on clouds as you gaze out at the peaceful view of Central Park and the NYC skyline. My treatment of choice was the classic mandarin massage which I loved. The massage itself was great but I hate when there's no satisfying ending (like a head massage or a quick foot rub, etc) Overall the mandarin is the best spa I have been to in NYC. The service matches Vegas spas (ie Encore) but the facilities fall a little short. The service made my experience amazing and I will be back shortly!! This spa is one of the best. The staff is very solicitous and helpful. The VIP suite is fantastic with a gentle whirlpool, great views, plenty of fruit and water and a relaxing oasis for a few hours. We've also tried the cleansing treatment which is also quite good. Kelli T did an excellent job when we visited explaining the treatment and tailoring as need be. I booked the Time Ritual after speaking to the front desk and they promised that it was the best choice if I wanted a deep tissue massage. They also said it was bespoke. There was nothing bespoke about the treatment except perhaps if you count that you get to choose the oil scent they massage you with. On top of that I've never had such a lame massage by any standards let alone expecting a deep tissue. It felt more like my masseuse just rubbed me down with oil with zero pressure. Even after asking my masseuse for more pressure, in which she said okay but didn't increase pressure at all. For $500 (without the automatic 20% gratuity) it was beyond disappointing. read more

I'm really torn between giving The Spa at Mandarin Oriental 4.5 and 5 stars. I can't say this is the most amazing spa I've been to which would warrant 5 stars. But indeed it was a lovely experience in which all my senses were able to unwind and relax. The key point between this spa and other world class spas is the location, view and service. This spa is located on the lobby level of the Mandarin Oriental, but don't let that fool you as this spa is at least 30 something floors above the Time Warner Center overlooking Central Park and Midtown West of NYC. All the windows in the spa, heat experience, treatment rooms, tea room, and relaxation room have expansive windows coupled with the beautiful sunlight gives you a gorgeous view. Each of the rooms have teas or citrus water to ensure you are hydrated. The locker room was kept clean and had all the finishing touches women needed, moroccon oil hair products etc. The reason why I choose this spa over others because of their Heat Experience. I was disappointed with the Heat Experience. They segregate men and woman's facilities which is nice if you want to truly unwind in privacy but takes away from all the actual products they could provide if they had a larger space. The heat experience had a jacuzzi tub, rain shower, and steam room. I wished they had a sauna as well. I did like that they were very responsive and I was able to book a reservation through email. I had the oriental essence massage with a female therapist. Thought the massage overall was a 8.5/10. Great service from checking in, to attendant in the locker room, to treatment and checking out. read more

If you are impressed with fancy surroundings, a plush robe and an uber fancy jacuzzi ONLY... this place is for you. For the most part, the spa is very clean (a welcome and very much appreciated surprise). However, as a practicing FT massage therapist for over 12 years, there was nothing special about my 2 services totaling a whopping $617! I have had the Spa at Mandarin Oriental NY on my BucketList for years. As such, I was super-excited to finally have saved for my awesome spa afternoon experience. Sadly, everything was just 'good'. Nothing noteworthy. Nothing exceptional. No complaints...just good. I've had amazing pedicures and I've had amazing massage. Neither of which were at the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. My under-grad's in marketing, I have an MBA in general business. I am a 'lowly' massage therapist who receives spa services bi-weekly. In my opinion, this place is all hype-with limited substance that comes with a ridiculous price tag. read more

This is a truly indulgent way to enjoy a massage - from the heated bathroom/changing room floors (No joke. Go ahead and put your feet on the floor. Doesn't it feel great? During the colder months this is WELCOMED) to the thick luscious robes to the heated massage beds, this is a place that takes relaxation seriously. And just when you think things couldn't get any better, you just have to visit the relaxation room, post massage to unwind SOME MORE. I have to thank a friend for a generous gift card. Just had a great visit here today. Much needed relaxation after jet lag. Checking in was very easy. The people at front desk were very pleasant. The facilities were a bit in the smaller side, but still enjoyed them. Only thing missing was a sauna. Which for me is unfortunate since I'm big into saunas! My favorite thing in a spa. They did have a very nice Amethyst steam room, mist room (which has three different settings), and an AWESOME whirlpool! That thing was amazing! Never been in a vitality pool before and I loved it! More spas need to have those!! I went in before AND after my massage. The relaxation room was small, but beautiful with a nice view of the city. Also big variety of snacks and teas. Yum yum! The chaise lounges were comfy and adjustable. Also forgot to mention the robes are super comfortable. They also have an area where you wait for your massage therapist that also has snacks, water, and teas. And I believe you can also order food off the menu there. One thing happened that was a bit off putting. When I walked toward the wet area in my bathing suit, i was stopped by a worker who said I needed to wear a robe to walk the 10 foot halway to the wet area. She said it is because men walk through there. Really?? I was in a bikini! With a towel! I wasn't naked or anything! People walk around in bikinis all the time outside in front of kids whatever I was surprised that she told me I needed to put a robe on over my bathing suit inside of the spa. I was nice and didn't talk back to her anything and went and put a robe on, but I thought that was absolutely ridiculous. Anyhow, the massage.... WOW. I have a massage therapist come to my house twice a week who is like the best ever. The massage therapist was almost as good. Definitely kind of therapist you want to have a five star spa.! She was very pleasant, made me feel comfortable, and brought me to massage heaven LOL. Anyhow not sure if I will ever visit this place again only because they don't have a sauna. "Worth Every Penny...If You Have an Extra 50,000 Laying Around" Yes, I scrounged 50,000 pennies from my piggy bank to spend one glorious afternoon at the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental. After lugging my sack of change through the hot, sweaty streets of Manhattan, I was ready for the cool respite of the 35th floor, high above the throngs of grossy people. You are greeted at the front desk with tea and spa slippers before you walk back for a tour of the treatment rooms and water therapy room. I picked the Spa because I had a hankering for a jacuzzi and water therapy pre-treatment. I feel in love love love with the water therapies at the Wailea resort in Maui, and was looking to re-create a teensy bit of that experience in NYC. Knowing that teensy-ness would apply to the size of any spa in NYC, I was overjoyed to find a wade-in jacuzzi pool. One side has an immersed chaise lounge built of metal tubes. You can have a lie down on the metal tubes and the jets and bubbles come from underneath you, so you're nestled in a jetty-bubbly-uplifting-rollicking water bed of actual water. I did not move for 25 minutes until my treatment started. The Spa is not a place to cheap out, so I opted for the 2 hour Time Treatment, where you basically customize your 2 hour treatment. I ended up opting with their suggestions. I started with a body scrub-first a brush down with a hard brush, then a slathering of minty exfoliating rub. An all-over mini-massage to smooth out your skin. After a quick hop in the en suite shower, I had a long, luxurious traditional massage with some sports massage thrown in to ease my tired muscles. Followed by a facial massage (not a real facial, I don't do those) and a scalp masage. During the 2 hour treatment, I entered a zen-like blissful state, not quite sleeping and not quite dreaming but just luxuriating in the warm, enveloping feeling of having my muscles pulled and prodded into mush. Afterwards, I napped in the relaxation room, sipping orange water, noshing on dried apricots and nuts, watching the leaves blossom in Central Park. Then headed to the locker room to slowly dress and return to reality. My skin was smooth, my muscles melty, my mind blank as I was whisked down the elevator to the hot, mean streets of Manhattan... (...and MSG for HOCKEY...where I promptly lost all Zen in chanting "fight! fight! fight!) This girl would make the Manadarin a monthly-must-do if it weren't for having to haul all those troublesome pennies. read more

This spa is the most luxurious elegant, beautiful high end spa in the entire 5 boros no question! I have been to most of the spas in the city and can give truthful details. Expect to be wowed by the beauty and elegance. It is unmatched in the city. That is a fact. Many of the spas in the city are really just high end salons. I think if anyone works and lives in NYC a spa is almost a necessity due to the stress and demands of living and working in the most high energy and high demand city in the US. Having said all of that , here is my educated opinion of this spa. The pros. 1. the most beautiful relaxing spa in the city period. There are no competitors. A lot of money was spent putting it together. 2. if you are looking for a relaxing day an oasis from the stress of the city, need a mental health day , or or on your honeymoon and want to try the couples room The Mandarin Oriental is unmatched! 3. highly trained professionals who are trained to give you your space and not crowd you and to talk softly so your day is relaxing and you get the feeling of not being in NYC. 4. the services themselves are only as good as the professionals giving them. Here is a little secret that is just common sense and it can apply to other industry's as well ,there is no such thing as a spa with all of the best employees. They are the same people who have worked in other spas in the city and landed a job here. You can get a top employee or a mediocre one. the cons 1. the turn around of employees is incredible. They can't seem to hold onto anyone so if you call for a treatment with an employee you like the problem is you may not get them the next time since they may have moved on. So either it is run poorly or they do not treat their employees well. A happy employee makes for a return customer this is just common sense but they do not seem to have figured that out (whoever runs it) 2.The employees cross the line( in my opinion) of being professional and cold across the board. What I mean is they all seem to be like trained soldiers and possibly afraid to lose their jobs so they can't be relaxed in the services they provide. 3. It is not like going to a great hair salon where the name of the stylist is what draws you. There is too much turn over for that kind of following here in my opinion. I went to one spa for years and had the same person do my facials. I do not know if that exists here. It does not seem possible. 4.the 4th and worst part to me is the main reason I can't give it 5 stars. The times I went ( I haven't been in a few years) the way they charge is not understandable or even fair in my opinion. I do not want to have to get a calculator and try to figure out the price. Just give me the price straight up ,what is the problem with that? It goes beyond the expense. I would assume it would be expensive with the money they put into it. You won't find this level of high end spa else where in the city. But the way they charge was backwards and in my opinion not fair. The way they charge is not per treatment. Example there is not a set price for the facials. You buy time blocks. Almost time shares it is so expensive. You can't prepare for the amount you will spend since there is not a set price. There were no prices on the web site. I feel this pricing system is some what deceptive. You have to practically be a math genius to even begin to understand this system. If they had set prices on the site and were upfront about it, I might change my mind. So bottom line I would only recommend it if you have tons of money to burn. Just being there it is a calming and lovely. I would recommend it for honeymoons or special occasions. I can't even begin to describe the beauty and luxury of it! Again there is nothing else like it, no other competition in the city! But the pricing system is so stressful that it takes away from the other wise lovely experience. I can't afford to go any more so that is my experience with it. For the average New Yorker looking for stress relief I would say the cost is too much but it is a special occasion place for sure! Probably better for tourists or those with expense accounts. Again it is not the price I am talking about. I prefer to come here during the day. The spa is immaculate and so is the service. The locker rooms are spacious and the relaxation room is comfortable - if you can get it alone - the beds (which seem to have a sheet you could pull around them) face one another and are close, but comfortable with a great view to the side. MASSAGE The massage was mediocre - hence the rating -surprisingly average at best. The therapist actually rubbed something the wrong way and it was painful. I have never experienced that before, even in much cheaper institutions. The overall massage outside of that was average. PRIVACY For the most part you can have privacy - its hard to generalize, but the lack of manners by those who feel its okay to stare in the locker room was better here. In other words the clientale (older) was more on the discreet side *but not entirely*(younger). I usually find employees at high end places tend to have an attitude - not those that assist you directly but those who do peripheral but nonethless important work - resentment perhaps- but here they treat it like an art- well trained in making you feel special. ATMOSPHERE The steam room and whirlpool are well done- spacious for New York. Bright day light views - you can see into other buildings. ETIQUETTE Women only designated areas and you are allowed to go nude or topless if you want - or with disposable undergarments should you forget your own. I admit it. I'm LURVE massages...and post offices. But nonetheless...massages. Living in NYC gives you tons of reasons to be. With that being said, I was gifted an oriental massage and I eagerly awaited my Mandarin experience. The SPA is gorgeous as is the hotel. You're welcomed by an extremely professional yet friendly front desk who take your coat and shoes upon check in. You're given slippers and a lavender infused hand towel for your hands/face as well as tasty tea. (They had me at tea!) You're given a brief tour of the spa facilities which include an amazing vitality pool (which I will praise in a few), crystal steam shower, a relaxation room, and comfy waiting area. Now here's my review of the space and service: Locker rooms are nice. Truthfully nothing exceptional. The waiting area for your service is beautiful. You're on the 35 floor overlooking Manhattan sitting on a plush couch with ornate pillows surrounding you. The massage starts after you discuss problematic areas w/your masseuse. I had Kazumi who was small in stature but strong everywhere else. I like deep massages so her pressure was just the right amount to work out the many kinks I had. The actual massage room is perfectly decorated in dark wood, gray rock appliques on parts of the floor & plantation shutters for your desirable amount of sunlight during your massage. Truly zen. Post massage, I headed to the relaxation room where I drank orange water, laid on a bed and stared out into the mad city I escaped from. Did I mention the views are impeccable? After lounging there, I headed straight to the vitality pool where I disrobed and let the water jets finish what Kazumi started. Delightful. Needless to say, after showering, getting dressed and checking out, I didn't want to leave. I felt like relaxed Jello the remainder of day. Can't remember the last time I physically felt that loose and relaxed.The Spa at Mandarin is what all spas aspire to be. Inviting but not stuffy. Is it pricey? Holy Moses it is. Is it worth it, if you can afford it? Absolutely. HELPFUL TIP: The vitality pool has an actual reclined bed like bench where you can lay down and have the jets go to town on your entire body. That's a really nice experience of New York I had. I was so tired walking around NYC street and tried to find a closest spa around my spot. At first I thought it was oriental by its name. But nothing but the name. I called in just 5 mins before I arrive because I were already at the NYC Ballet center. They took the credit card info, and gave me the spot available. Well, so technically you can just walk in I think. If I had more time I would spend 1 more hour in the relaxation area and enjoy more the view from 35th floor. But I was too hungry already :D. So I left after the treatment and short relaxation in the oxyzen pool. Everything is nice, the attitude, the treatment. Oh I love the heated bed, I felt so comfortable warm during the massage, which I rarely feel anywhere else. (I'm so sensitive with the cold). Everything is exactly what is rated as one of the best spas in the world... $300 for 50 mins, worth every penny. Just one thing I dont really like is the slippers, they are not comfortable at all.... and they look really ugly... read more

Zen Heaven! I've been lucky enough to receive a gift certificate from my other best friend to a treat at the Mandarin Oriental Spa in Columbus Circle. I made an appointment for a facial in the evening and was pleasantly surprised by the amenities. **Tip: Arrive an hour before your appointment to take full advantage of the amenities! If you forget a swimsuit, they provide you a little disposable undergarment. After being greeted with slippers and some mountain berry tea (yum), I was given a brief tour around the Spa: the Locker room where you get a robe, Heat room and Relaxation room. The Spa was completely empty as it was a Monday night which meant full-privacy! The hot tub in the Heat Room is large with a bench and reclined bed so the jets hit your whole body. The Relaxation room is very peaceful with the mood lighting, comfy couches, cozy blankets, magazines, and snacks (dried apricot, dried cherries, nut medly). There was also a big canister of water with orange slices in them. I do have to point out, sadly, one minor detail: the boat fountain or heater in the Relaxation room made a whirring sound that was a tiny bit distracting. Other than that, my visit was exquisite. After my facial, which was absolutely amazing (Patricia), you are free to continue about the Spa for your second dip in the tub and nap in the Relaxation room. Although it is pricey, this modern Spa provides excellent service and comfort. I was there till late, and no one kicked me out! Today, my face is as soft as a baby's butt! This place treats you like royalty! They have amazing service. I needed some paperwork printed for work and they were able to print it out for me. My sister and I had a private room where there was a bubble bath and shower. The massage was heavenly and the view is amazing!! The food we are was also really good. It's just super relaxing and fun. They have a whole room where you can chill and nap. Okay everyone prepare yourselves. Emma Watson goes here! I was busy filling out paperwork due the next day and didn't even realize she was sitting next to me! Ugh such a noob but I probably wouldn't have fangirled around her since she was there to relax. As a treat for my birthday my friend took me to the Spa a the Mandarin Hotel. We only used the facilities (jacuzzi, steam room, sauna) and it was one of the best Spa experiences I ever had. The staff was courteous, welcoming, friendly. They had this cute pouch with toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush and razor. Bottle of water were available upon request. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, quiet. There was a relaxing/reading room with an amazing view of Manhattan. Healthy snacks: fruits (bananas, grapes, peaches, mandarines, apples, etc...), dried fruits, nuts, dried cranberries. The products available to use (e.g. shampoo, conditioner, body moisturizer) felt good and had a nice barely-there scent. The experience was great. Whether you go solo, as a couple or with a group of friends, its sure to be a magnificence experience. read more

Amazing experience! I walked into the spa and the receptionists were super friendly. They took my shoes, hung up my jacket and walked me to the changing room. After changing into my robes, my masseuse was waiting outside and she walked me to the room. She was consulting me for 5 minutes asking me where I wanted her to focus or if there were any injuries. She adjusted the lighting of the room the way I wanted and adjusted her pressure to what I liked. The overall massage was very soothing. She knew what she was doing and I felt really relaxed. I've been to a hand full of places for massages and this place didn't disappoint. She hit all the right spots! After the massage, she walked me to the relaxation room and the room was set up with beautiful adjustable beds with snacks and drinks. Overall, this was an amazing experience. They don't do any kind of medical treatments or even exfoliating, but they do extractions and lymphatic drainage, and the products are gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. It's a soothing experience. Set aside enough time to take advantage of the relaxation room, which affords a view of both the Hudson and Central Park. Their hot tub and steam room are great, too, and the 50 minute pedicure is a must. read more

It's the Mandarin Oriental... any treatment or service from this place is guaranteed to be well done. Was not disappointed! My masseuse gave me the hardest massage I've ever had.(I was actually sore!) It was a really really long week so had way too many knots to get out in an hr session. However, whatever was massaged out stayed that way for a few days. Also, beds are heated! My favorite part of the massage was the windows in the room. Huge fan of natural light so we had the blinds open during the session. YAY! Relaxation room was also pretty fantastic read more

I had a facial here the other day and while it was certainly very good it wasn't worth 360.00 which is what I was charged ( including a mandatory 20% tip). The fact that they make you tip the staff 20% is really outrageous in my view. Since when did a 20% tip become mandatory? If I feel the service warranted a 60.00 dollar tip I feel that is for me to decide. I wouldn't go back based on this alone. read more
