Very convenient since I had my son and husband getting hair cuts next door. I popped in for a quick pedi. I got right it, no wait (it was a Wed). They had a pedicure spec which was a free upgrade to hot stone massage. I took advantage of that of course :). The pedicure was great, also had sugar scrub. They didn't have prices posted anywhere so I really wasn't sure how much it was until the end. They have free heated neck roll which was nice, just ask :). Then when I went to the drying area, the technician even took a couple minutes for a hand shoulder massage, I don't know if that's usual, but it was nice. When I paid I found out it was $35 (no extras and no add-on services), now it was a little more than I would expect, although it was worth it too. Also be prepared, this is not the salon if your planning to make calls or chit chat with friends. They have signs posted everywhere telling you no calls and to silence your phone. It was quiet! I was very disappointed with this place. I made an appointment days in advance for two vinylux manicures and a kiddie manicure. When we arrived, we were not greeted and we were asked to pick our colors. The nail technician was very impatient and kept on rushing us as we were making our color selections. Even my six year old daughter did not appreciate feeling rushed as she looked for her colors. After the manicure, we discovered that we received a regular manicure instead of the vinylux manicure that we scheduled. The only response back from staff was that we were charged for a regular manicure with no intention of fixing it even thought we were unhappy and we specifically asked for vinylux. When we left the place, we were not thanked no acknowleded. I would NOT recommend this place. Spend you money somewhere where you'll be welcomed and appreciated. read more

I've since stopped going to Spa O for my no-chip services. It seemed as soon as I wrote my 5-star updated review, things started to go significantly down-hill. I agree with other writers, not all technicians are created equal here. One of my last experiences with Spa O included a new technician who did not know the proper technique for soaking off a no-chip and ended up scraping the crap out of my nails, which had potential to seriously damage my nail beds. The receptionist, who was always there during my services, could tell something was off, most likely by the look on my face, so she asked me what was going on. When I told her, she said she'd alert her manager. She also gave me a 20% credit to my next service. The problem was, the next service was no better. This is actually quite upsetting, because I raved and raved about Spa O for a very long time, and recommended it to many people. Everyone I recommended it to said the same thing... it started off great, and then they got lazy. I went in for a manicure and pedicure. The inside looks very nice and clean so I was optimistic about my first time going. As I sat down for the pedicure it felt completely Rushed. It looks fine but I enjoy a leisurely pedicure experience and this lasted all but 15-20min tops. I had the same experience with my manicure. To top it off the whole thing was $50!! That is way too pricey compared to other places around this area where you can spend $20 less! I can't say I will be running back any time soon! read more

Based on the Yelp reviews, I scheduled a pedi at O Salon for me and 4 others. They were able to do all of our pedis at the same time. They were prompt with starting at our apt time and my nail technician was nice and did a great job. After she finished, she lead me to the drying area and gave me a quick 5 minute neck massage. I do not recommend this place to anybody even if they were free! This is what my nails look like 4 days after having them done. They first started with vertical lines appearing on day 2. Then by day 4 every time I looked down more chunks of my nail & the dip were off! This morning I found some under my pillow.This is the 2nd time this is happened to me from this salon. I had been there prior the week before and the identical thing happened and they re-did them after I had to insist! After paying $60 including tip I definitely expect my dip manicure to last a lot longer than just a couple of days and not to ruin my nails on top of it! They are not owning up to any damages either. That's really gets my goat! I was told by other professionals if it's the dip isn't evenly applied it will crack and then chip off & or they could have defective product. Not only did they do the worst dip ever but my nails are totally ruined now & extremely weak and breaking off so far down they are actually bleeding and I'm in severe pain. Spoke with Lindsay the managers hi BTW also was the one who did my nails the 2nd time tried blaming my nails being weak and in bad condition I told her yes now they are since I've been to her salon twice prior I had such a hard strong nails. I had a dip a couple times at the other salons and no chips also. I never ever had that happened anywhere. They also said by me doing a dip three times in my life was way too much and hard on my nails LOL! I never heard of such malarkey! I know a ton of people have done dip for over 5 years straight and their nails are perfect condition and last 2 or 3 was even more although it does have an outgrowth because your nails grow obviously. But it stays on and doesn't chunk off and have her nails fall off with it. I was also told by professionals. they're supposed to be actually healthier than a no chip or tips. They also had the nerve to charge me to soak this junk off yesterday. I can't even and won't even get another mani ever again but I now have to let my nails hopefully come back to life before I can go else where.. I usually go to the Mario Tricoci in Vernon Hills for my pedicures, but my regular nail technician I had been seeing for 5 years retired and I decided to try some other places which were a little less expensive. After reading the reviews on here, I thought I would give Spa O a try. Now granted it was a few months ago and I'm only getting around to writing a review now, but I was definitely not impressed. I had called ahead and made an appointment for a Saturday morning. When I arrived, the receptionist was friendly and directed me towards a nice selection of nail polishes (Essie and OPI) which were nicely organized. They had the standard massage chairs, which are nice, but aren't a deal breaker for me. The decor and ambiance were nice. I forget the name of the nail tech, but she wasn't overly friendly or talkative, which I was ok with. I'm not one to usually talk a ton during services, so I don't mind if there isn't a lot of conversation. Now onto to the actual pedicure...When I had called to make my appointment, I asked about the tools they used and what process they used to clean them - do they use an autoclave? - and I was told that they sterilize all of their tools between clients and use new/disposable tools for those which can't be sterilized. It did not appear that they used an autoclave, but one of those machines that look like a small convection oven with uv lights (which I don't know if I really trust). There were also a few tools that were used that could not be properly sterilized but appeared that they were being reused - i.e. a nail brush. It was a few months ago and at the time I was trying to not think about it because I didn't want to cause a scene by yelling at them to stop because they were being unsanitary, so I don't remember the other tools I was grossed out by. The service itself felt rushed - it may have taken about 30-40 minutes total for the appointment to be completed and that's including when I was told to sit for a few minutes to let my toes dry a bit. There was a brief shoulder massage as others have mentioned during that time, which was nice, but the foot and leg massage during the pedicure itself was short and felt rushed like the rest of the service. And the foot massage is the part I look forward to most! The polish itself lasted fine, but i'm generally not too prone to chips in the first place. All in all, I was unimpressed by both the cleanliness of the tools and the pedicure. I think this place would be fine if you're not overly neurotic about the cleanliness of everything or if you're looking for a quick or "express" type pedicure. But if you're paranoid about picking up some random fungus or want to feel more pampered, I would recommend trying somewhere else. read more

I have been going to this business for quite some time. I was disappointed in my last manicure. I know it wasn't a no chip or anything. But usually I can get at least a good week out of a manicure before it chips. This last one started chipping all over the place after just 2 days. Not sure why. I wasn't doing anything out of the normal that would provide more wear and tear on my nails. Not happy. Update: 2 days later my pedicure already started chipping. Spa O is a nice in between nail place that is nicer than your typical strip mall joint but less pretentious and pricey than an upscale salon/spa. I've been twice now and both times called the morning of and was able to get in that afternoon. The decor is really nice, trendy, relaxing. They have TVs but keep them on mute with captions and usually play movies, not crazy distracting stuff like news programs or Jerry Springer (is that even still on??). I've only ever gotten pedis but they do a good job and have lots of colors to choose from. After your service they take you to the drying bar and give you a mini-back rub. Awesome! It's a bit pricier than the standard strip mall place but its worth it to me for the nice surroundings, quiet atmosphere and extra perks. One key thing to note - they only do cash tips and they won't add tip to your credit card so you can get cash to give your tech. So be sure to bring some small bills for a tip. read more

I have to find another nail salon: First not every technician gives great service. Second, I have been using vinylux nail polish for over a month here without an up-charge of $5.00 (which I provided myself, happily). While being in the beauty business myself, I know the price of this product and it is considerably less expensive than Opi or Essie, and their is one less step in the manicuring service (no base coat). I do NOT understand the up-charge. Time to find a new nail salon, possibly one that gives better massages also. read more

Really love this spot one of my favorite spa's, the owner is so sweet and really puts in the work, same goes for the staffs/employees. If you prefer quality this is the place for you even though it might cost you sure get what you paid for and high quality is not cheap. Also I haven't really heard any bad reviews all the bad ones just seems like the customers fault because they don't take care of they're own nails then blame them which is unfair.. overall I highly recommend this place very clean and kind people read more
