Im one of those hard to please picky people that everyone hates as a client!! I have a 14 year old bichon mix that had a SEVERE back injury when he was two. Major surgery, he was paralyzedd for a period of time. But had a 90 pct recovery. Im very picky and Ffloyd is very fragile. I was doing some work with the owner of S, P & T and he invited me to have a go with his facility for grooming since i was without a groomer.... I was very impressed! Ffloyd not only looks great, but, came home not sore and full or energy. I highly recommend Spa, Paw and Tail for grooming. PLEASE don't send your animals to Spa Paw and Tail. On October 3rd 2024, I dropped my healthy 8 year old dog off at Spa Paw and Tail. She was in their care until I picked her up on Monday the 7th. When I picked her up, I could immediately tell she had lost weight. When asked if she ate her food, I was happily reassured that she ate every meal and they went through the feeding journal with me. In the car, I noticed what was either food or vomit crusted onto her legs and chest. She has never smelled so bad before. She got a bath when she got home and proceeded to vomit four times. The next morning, she vomited up breakfast. After consulting the vet, I switched her to a bland diet of chicken and rice, which she vomited up and proceeded to vomit an additional three times in an hour. At that point, the vet recommended taking her to urgent care. At the animal hospital, she weighed 23.2lbs. 21 days prior at a regular vet appointment, she weighted 28.2lbs. Between the rapid weight loss and the decline in health, I have no reason to believe that my dog ate her food while in the care of Spa Paw and Tail and given her illness, the facilities of Spa Paw and Tail were not a safe and healthy environment for the duration of boarding. I am saddened and angry that my dog is sick and suffering and I was not notified of her decline in health during her stay. If I was notified, I would have had her picked up at any moment. The vet said she was dehydrated and ordered a full bloodwork panel, subcutaneous fluids and medications to stop the vomiting. The emergency vet visit cost $700, more than double the boarding fee for 4 nights. Don't send your dog to Spa Paw and Tail. read more

This is my 3rd time using them to board my cat. I really like this place. even though I moved from Milwaukee, and live further away from this place, I still decided to make the trip and use their services to board my cat. And here's a list of reasons why I chose to do so: 1. They do not use wired cages. Instead their cages are tempered glass. 2. Their accommodations are either 2 or 4 stories, which definitely allows a cat to move around instead of being stuck in a single tiny cage. 3. They actually play with the cats and allow them to have their own time out of their cages to play in their kitty playground. If there are other cats boarded, they create a schedule to ensure there are no overlaps with other cats. 4. They are extremely friendly, and they have teenagers working to provide excellent care. Additional positives: Apparently, their cages have their own ventilation system. Also, the cost is extremely manageable, and they do not charge extra if they need to administer oral medication. They have an active Facebook page where they upload tons of pictures of all the pets they are taking care of. Even though they are more dog based than cat, I did not feel that my cat was ever ignored. I did send them couple of emails for updates, that they were very quick with responding back. read more

My black lab Mia and blue Weimaraner Lucy stayed nearly two weeks at Spa Paw and Tail and we couldn't be more thrilled with this facility! I don't have human children, my dogs are my kids, so I really want the best for them when we are gone, especially since my Weim gets super stressed out when away from my husband. They stayed in a VIP suite and we LOVED being able to check in on them via the webcam in their room. The first night we saw them being fed, and an employee stayed in the room with them while eating to be sure they did well and behaved. Via webcam, we could see they were out of their room frequently, I assume in the daycare or on a nature walk or movie lounge we purchased for them. I realized partway through vacation that they needed something to chew on besides the one bone we left. I emailed and asked the employees to give them two Benebones that I had seen in their shop and add to my bill, and they showed up that afternoon! The bath and nail trim they got at the end of their stay was perfect, they smelled so good and their nails were trimmed so short! I wish I could do that! All of the employees were so nice and I could tell they cared about the dogs. Nina, the owner, called me a few weeks after our stay to ask about how everything was, which really impressed me. I have had such an amazing experience with the whole staff at Spa Paw and Tail (daycare & grooming), but the reason for my five star review is to recognize Karina for her grooming expertise! My 12-month old GSD puppy, Sasha, has always hated baths and was so stressed going to a different groomer, she blew a blood vessel in her eye. I called Spa Paw and Tail shortly after, and Karina spent a tremendous amount of time talking to me and building a plan to socialize my dog to grooming. She too has a GSD so we bonded over the similarities and timidness GSDs can have towards new experiences. Today Karina finally gave Sasha a bath and it went just fine! No added stress and it Karina was great about spending extra time with her to make sure she felt comfortable. I was blown away with how gorgeous she looked when I picked her up! You will not find an owner that cares more for animals than Nina. You will also not find a friendlier more helpful staff. I trust leaving my dog with Spa Paw and Tail as much I would if I left him with my own family. I also get all his grooming services done there with Erin who always does a great job. If I could give no stars, I would. This place was absolutely terrible for my pups last stay. He stayed there for 5 days recently and has had severe diarrhea ever since. we have been here twice before and never had a problem except that he was extremely stinky and so were his blankets (which they claim they wash before check out) I also recommended this place to a friend who had there pup stay for a week in September, and their pup came home sick (this person even called to let them know and they blew it off like he was just a complainer) . But then days later, were posting about sick dogs with respiratory issuesI called to check up on my pup every day because I knew he was homesick, the last day the individual who answered the phone said to the person next to her, oh did you call her and tell her the dog has bloody diarrhea today? Real Nice! Upon pick up, my dog had dry feces all over his rear end, like you cant kindly wipe that off with a baby wipe or wet wash cloth. Shame, Shame, Shame. Also, when I was making my reservation, I asked when pick up was, I was told "same as drop off" So I never bothered to check. When I received the bill, I questioned the late fee , and was told to read the rules? Are you kidding! This is the second time that I've brought my cat, Oreo, in for grooming with Jen. She does a wonderful job in grooming Oreo - I can't believe it's the same cat! And Oreo loves the grooming, as well. Our dog had a fine boarding stay and grooming service at Spa Paw and Tail over Thanksgiving, and we will use this service again in the future. A few tips for new customers: make sure you read everything and ask all the questions that you need to so that you are confident and comfortable with everything about your pet's stay, anywhere. Our dog is very high energy and sporty, and she has a rough play style and takes a while to warm up to new people. I describe her as, "a lot of dog," and so I was nervous about how she would do at Spa Paw & Tail. We signed her up for special care, which includes four walks a day. (I am not sure how long the walks are, I'm curious about that.) I like that my dog is able to get personal attention like that and not be stuck all alone during her stay. When we made our reservation, the basic, mid-size room was not available, and so we put our dog in a room with a video camera. I thought we would not use this service, but both my husband and I ended up checking out the doggie cam several times a day to see what our best friend was up to! Her stay was uneventful, we picked her up at late checkout which is shared with daycare and they use a car pick-up line just like you might have at a school. (We prepaid for our dog's stay when we dropped off our dog, so the pick up in the car line was very quick.) The caregivers brought out our dog and all her things, with a daily sheet of how well she ate (with areas for medication if the dog had any), and a note saying that she was "endearing" (which is really nice, considering our dog is, a LOT of Dog!) Her caregiver made it a point to tell us that she was a nice dog, which was very kind. Our dog had a bath while at Spa, Paw and Tail, and her fur felt great, her paws were smooth, her nails were trimmed and filed (we paid extra for filing) and she wore a little cloth bandanna when we got her back. It is *hard* to be away from your pet when traveling, but based on our first stay with Spa, Paw and Tail, we felt like they did a good job with our dog and we would trust her with them again in the future. We would take her back for grooming again too. If your dog is an easy dog, I think your dog would have an even better experience because they would have more opportunities for play and being around other dogs. Spa, Paw & Tail offers tours if you want to see the facility, and their reception area is nicely decorated with a little shop. It will be important when you make a reservation that your dog is up to date on all of their vaccinations, so be sure to give yourself enough time to make sure you and your dog are ready. Also, be sure to read and follow the instructions for how to prepare your dog's food and bedding for their stay. The staff was very receptive and took a lot of notes about our dog's personality and play style, which I appreciated. I felt that this facility offers more service and attention for the dogs than we have experienced with other facilities and that is what will bring us back when we need help with our dog again. read more

Terrible experience. 0 stars!! We dropped off our three small dogs on 6/30/16 and picked them up on 7/5/16. All of our dogs were in excellent health prior to boarding them. Our Bichon and one of our Teddy Bears had dried feces all over their paws when we picked them up. Our Bichon's eyes were almost completely covered over with crusty eye matter. We could not get an answer as to why someone did not take the time to clean the feces or eye matter from two of our three dogs. All three of our dogs had severe diarrhea after we picked them up. Our Bichon was admitted to a critical care veterinary hospital for treatment of the diarrhea and a bacterial infection. We have spent over $3000.00 in medical care and testing! I will never take my beloved dogs near this place. Be careful of the hidden dangers where dogs are allowed to share water bowls and walk on carpet that has been defecated on by other dogs. The American Veterinary Medical Association guidelines clearly warns about animals sharing water bowls and being exposed to other animals feces. The photos on some of this businesses Facebook page clearly show a water bowl out in the open for dogs to share. I have boarded my dogs at Animal Motel and Pahle's in the past and never had sick dogs. The owner, Nina Race, has refused to compensate us and stated that she doesn't take responsibility for sick dogs. Does this business owner care about money more than the pets?!?!?! read more

My dog used to be very shy and timid. He was terrified of his own shadow. Spent weeks researching "doggy day camps"... I knew right away this was the right one. The staff is incredibly friendly. My scared little dog is now Mr. Popular there. He has so much fun.. he darts to the door as soon as he gets there. My dog stayed for a week. Top notch service and care! I'll pay a little extra for the superior care. I love that they allow boarding dogs to participate in the doggie day camp to keep the dogs active, socialized and entertained. I called to check on my dog, and the staff took the time to fill me in. They genuinely care about the dogs and their experience. I took a tour and observed staff members having fun playing with the dogs, while one was getting them to splash around in the baby pool. I also observed the staff taking gentle care of a special needs dog. The facility is kept very clean. From the report, it appears that she had a good time and didn't seem to be upset about her stay. I had her boarded two years ago elsewhere and their price was comparable to SP&T. My dog hated it, because she didn't have privacy and was let out only for bathroom breaks and about an hour of playtime. I had to pay extra for walks. The other place had to call me, because my dog was so upset. At Spa Paw & Tail, she had her privacy and was able to exercise by joining the doggie day camp. I did upgrade to one of their irresistible spa packages of course, to include walks, ice cream, time in their lounge room, and a bath:-) read more

Spa paw and tail is AMAZING. I had never boarded my two dogs before and had to travel out of state with no other option. I was especially nervous because one of our dogs was only 3 months old! The staff put me at ease when I dropped them off and frequently sent me email updates as well as some text messages including pics of my beloved furkids. My dogs were happy when I picked them up--absolutely no changes in bowel habits (my older dog can get GI upset quite easily due to stress) and they were very excited when I dropped them off the next month as my husband and I again traveled out of state. We again got many pictures and updates and we could tell the staff paid close attention to them--we forgot to pack treats to add to their food to get them to eat, the staff noticed they didn't eat much the first day and added toppers -lamb and quinoa-- to their food the rest of the days and reported our finicky eaters were gobbling down their food. We are moving to Pennsylvania next week and are SO sad to be moving away from a place that we know we can trust with our dogs. We have been bringing our dogs here for daycare, grooming, and boarding. We could not be happier with Nina and her staff. They welcome my dogs, two shitzus Oscar and Chewie, like they are family. My dogs are excited to go there and have always been treated exceptionally well. On the rare occurrence one of the dogs were sick or acting strangely they informed us right away and did what they could to make sure the dogs were looked after and comfortable until we got there. It is puzzling to see all of these outstanding reviews given the experience we just had. We were in TX and boarded our dog here. He had been going to daycare here a few days just to get him used to the facility before we left to go out of town. He ended up in the emergency room based on the spa paw and Tails owner recommendation and gross lack of proper communication. Bloody stool, coughing, runny eyes, etc.) sounds fair. Send him off to the ER. Only problem is i had to start the communication with them the day he was admitted and I had to follow-up with them constantly to figure out what was going on. Nina informed us of issues on Wednesday morning. She said that she would call us if things got worse. He was hospitalized Thursday afternoon. Didn't hear from her specifically until Friday morning. I called Thursday morning to just check in. They called back 90 mins later saying "the owner says we need to get your dog to the ER". When we questioned her on this yesterday in person she said "I did call you". No you didn't. AND it turns out you just needed him gone from your business. We could have had a family member come and get him, but that wasn't what I was told. I was told he needed ER care. You just needed him gone. I had to follow-up for an emergency that you deemed an emergency just so you could get authorization to take him to the emergency room without telling me the heartless truth. "I just need him out of here" is all you had to say. And that is what you told my wife yesterday, right? Anyway, it cost us BIG BUCKS at the ER. when we came to talk to the owner about it yesterday, she talked about kennel cough and bloody stools like they were common and no big deal. Not the information I sought out and received from your subpar facility over the phone yesterday and not the information that was given to the ER. It was portrayed to me that he needed to go to the ER because it was a horrible situation. Story changed. That was the information that was given to the vet. They ran all kinds of tests based on your judgment that we were forced to approve. What were we gonna do? We had to follow the advice you gave. We were across the country. When we got to Wisconsin, story changed. After talking to the vet they said no signs of bloody stool and he didn't vomit. Just slightly dehydrated. I'm not calling your employees liars, I'm just repeating what I was told. All he had was kennel cough from YOU. That's it. Kennel cough. Your facility. Your business. If he has a Loose stool you wouldn't take a sample to the ER of that stool??? NOPE! When I asked that question you said "I can assure you we followed protocol..." we aren't in court. Maybe you have been there before for something similar and the response is rehearsed??? We got stuck with a house payment type of bill from the vet due to the lack of communication from the owner of this meager-at-best establishment that over charges. No help from Spa Paw and Tail. NOT ONLY that...they also didn't give us a refund for services rendered...if you want to call it "services". NOT ONLY THAT, they kept more than they should have based on what they told me. Our dog stayed for 3 out of 6 nights and they said they gave us only 2 nights of credit. At the end of the day, in our opinion, you had the opportunity to do the right thing and you didn't and you looked at us with a confused stare like we were crazy for confronting you. We didn't ask for you to help with his hospital bill. We asked for a refund due to your lack of communication. Your puzzled stare and portrayed confusion in lieu of any type of compassion said it all. You're cold. I hope your younger employees end up better when they are older and working for someone else. Dog owners', If you are like looking for someone to be fair, this business owner is not. She had a great opportunity to give us a refund...she didn't...money is her driving force, NOT a love for animals. - This place is a subpar facility as far as cleanliness, clearly - this place is too expensive For what you get. Your dog will be in a cage for a minimum of 12 hrs per day/night. Wednesday night/Thursday morning no one checked on our dog for 15 hours according to Nina yesterday. Lol. Our dog was deemed medically questionable and they didn't check on him for 15-16 hrs. They got paid though... - the ownership shows examples of caring more about money than clients or customers - legally sound place that will never assume liability even though it's a bunch of teens running the show. If you do stay here be sure to confirm everything in writing because I don't have anything to legally stand on at this point. I will forever remember this experience. For the money part of it sure, but mostly for the cold spirited "service". If you take your pet here document, document, document...and best of luck. read more

On 4 separate occasions we have boarded our dogs we have incurred vets bills after each stay. The last stay our older dog came home with a bad case of kennel cough . I love Spa Paw and Tail!! They take such excellent care of my dog. He is very shy and they go out of their way to make him feel comfortable. I have had bad experiences with boarding him before and they make me feel so at ease with leaving him there. We can walk in after not being there for a few months and the women at the front desk remember him by name!! I have taken my dog here a couple of times and I'm pretty sure she loves it. We have done day care and boarding and grooming and the staff are always exceptionally friendly and helpful. The first time I came in I asked to be shown around just so I was a little more comfortable, and mostly, they showed me around the lobby. There was a small window I could look through and see a corner of the play area, but that's it. I would have liked to have received a better tour/grasp of where my puppy was staying, but there were some pictures online that helped. The location is unexpected. It's easily accessible and close to the Moorland Rd exit on 43, but it's in a business park. It could have been an office building. It's fine, it's just unexpected. However....because it's in a business park....there's no outside playtime or potty time. I'm unclear on where or how, but there's apparently a bathroom spot inside the building somewhere. The staff assured me that although I, like most puppy parents, have spent hours potty training, that they really don't have trouble with it and the owners haven't really had a problem either. So, if you're coming in for boarding then you can bring some belongings, but nothing that gets gooey, like rawhides. Each dog gets its own room to sleep in...there are some suites and some smaller rooms I gather. For boarding you also need to bring portioned food and everything you bring gets documented, bedding gets their name written on it, and the dogs collar gets switched to a color that's for boarding and its off to playtime! If you are just doing daycare, just bring the dog. They will switch the collar to a day care collar and they even send the leash back with you. So, the dogs are out playing from about 7am to 11am, naptime from 11-1, and then out playing again from 1pm to about 6pm. The play area, from the pictures, looks like fun for a dog. And besides, there's all these new friends to play with. They can take about 100 dogs at any given time and there are several different play areas so they aren't all in one big pile. The staff DO, however, leave the building about 7pm for the night. I'm generally not opposed to the staff leaving, but my pup usually has her last bathroom break around 9pm. For grooming, I've only had nails done, but they were done successfully, which is more than I can say for my success rate at it. They offer a number of other services that I have not used which range from ice cream treats to a movie lounge to dog massages. I haven't done so, but it would appear that they really do have the capability to pamper your pooch. Anyway, the staff are nice, the place seems clean, and my dog loves it and comes home exhausted. There is a price tag on all of that which seems a little steep, but I'm banking on paying for what I get. Yay dog spa! read more

We have been boarding our 1.5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer at Spa Paw and Tail for the last year. This is actually the only boarding facility we have used with our dog. We have boarded him there four times over this time period-- generally for four or five days each time. We have also taken our dog to daycare there a couple times, but we have primarily used this facility for boarding. We have generally been pleased with Spa Paw & Tail. Their hours are accommodating for drop off and pick up. The staff is relatively friendly, although they're all very young, but no issues with that. The kennels the dogs stay in are larger than other facilities, although I really don't like that the dogs do not go outside to go to the bathroom. There have been a couple incidents when our dog has had accidents in the house soon after coming home from Spa Paw & Tail, because he was used to going to the bathroom inside. Spa Paw & Tail is definitely meant for someone who loves to pamper their dog or cat. They have quite a selection of spa treatments for animals, and offer bottled water for your pet, which I find humorous, but I'm sure some people take advantage of that, otherwise they wouldn't offer it. As stated earlier, we have generally been pleased with Spa Paw & Tail, but we had a very bad experience with our last boarding visit, 12/14/17-12/19/17. We went out of town to visit relatives for the holiday, but got back to town early due to our 4-month old baby getting sick and needing to cut the trip short. We called Spa Paw & Tail on Monday 12/18/17 to advise them we'd like to pick up our dog that day, one day earlier, since we were back in town. We were told it would be the same charge to pick him up Monday as it would be Tuesday (12/19/17) morning. So, we decided to pick him up Tuesday instead. We called Tuesday morning to let them know we'd be there at 8:00 am to pick our dog up. We were told the grooming hadn't been done yet (we booked a deluxe bath for our dog), as they wait until the very end of the boarding visit to do that. Due to my husband's work schedule, he was not able to pick him up at the original agreed upon time of 10 am, nor could I (when I made the boarding appt I assumed I would pick up the dog, but because of our sick 4-month old I wasn't able to leave the house to go get him). We asked that the grooming appointment be cancelled since we didn't have a choice but to go get the dog at 8 am that day. They said we would still be charged for the grooming appt due to the lack of notice of the cancellation. In order to avoid the $31 charge, my mother in law generously offered to go pick up the dog for us, so we called back to Spa Paw & Tail to advise them of this, and asked that they put the charge for the boarding on our credit card. They said there would be a 3% charge to pay by phone because "the card isn't present". They said they are charged by the credit card companies as a security feature since the card isn't present. I had never heard of this. To me, if this is true, many retailers (i.e. Amazon, etc) would cease to exist. Now, I realize 3% of our $237.53 boarding visit is under $10, but it's the principle of it. They were not willing to either waive the $31 grooming charge, or the 3% pay by phone charge. I wound up speaking to a manager that day-- I believe her name was Courtney-- who said the owner doesn't allow them to waive the 3% fee. I explained this was probably the worst customer service I've received from a business in a very long time-- they were unwilling to work with us. We have been taking our dog solely to this facility for over a year and spent over $1000 on services. Granted, I was in a terrible mood, but being a first-time mom with a sick 4-month old, and trying to figure out how I would get across town to pick up our dog and dealing with multiple employees who really didn't seem to have any empathy, or care whatsoever, about my predicament. I explained I get it-- that to them, I was just another customer in a very busy time of year for them, but for me, they were making things much more difficult than they had to be. They wound up waiving a late pick up fee so I could pick up our dog before closing later that day once my husband was home from work. Bottom line-- do not expect quality customer service of any kind from this business. They will care for your pet by providing the services you pay for. But expect to work within their timeframes/ guidelines 100%. I don't expect rules to be bent on a regular basis. Never before in the 4 times we have boarded our dog had we asked for any favors. This one time when we wanted to pick up our dog 2 hours early, or pay by phone, we were shot down by telling us fees would exist. Be very aware of their policies. We will certainly not be returning to this facility, and I will make it a point to tell everyone I know of our difficult experience there. read more

We just returned from a 10 day trip and want to thank you for providing such an outstanding facility for our Golden, Baker. This is the first time we have had to kennel him since we moved here from the east coast. On the recommendation of friends, we had visited and made reservations at two other kennels, only to cancel them because my gut told me they were not of the same caliber we had used on the east coast. And then........we found Spa Paw and Tail and new we had found the right place. I actually think Baker was sad to see us come pick him up as I know he enjoyed his 10 days being cared for by your great staff and the business model you have developed which places the animals you care for at a very high level while allowing them to socialize for extended periods of time.
