I had been going to this salon for about five years. I always tipped very generously, over 25% (often 30% to 40%) and gave a donation during the pandemic to help them pay for rent, when they couldn't open because of Covid restrictions (didn't receive anything for it, but it was the right thing to do) I felt bad for them as I'm a compassionate person. I've always Booked appointments online, never had a problem until today. My most recent appointment, was randomly "lost". I did not find out it had been "lost" until I pulled up to the salon, which is over an hour away with with traffic. When I showed them the confirmation email received from the booking platform, the stylist responded with "I don't know what to tell you, I can't see you today. Sorry." Pretty insincerely too, without any resolution like "let's book another appointment" or let me see what I can work out". I received no notice this appointment was canceled. I recently recovered from major surgery and had to cancel my last two appointments more than 24 hours in advance, as I could not sit up or drive. If this is how they do business, they are completely incompassionate , immature and unprofessional. I'm so glad that my pandemic donation, extra tipping went to such unworthy people. This is VERY unprofessional. If this is how they do business, do you really want to be a patron? read more

Today was my first time receiving a Brazilian wax and I must say it wasn't as horrible as people make it seem. I'm sure that's because Spa Social had a very relaxing and calming ambiance and the esthetician was very welcoming and open. After calling many other businesses, Katie was able to see me, same day within an hour of me deciding to go for a first time waxing. I love this place. Spa Social is elegant, cozy, trendy, comfortable, clean, and beautifully maintained. I see Katie for waxes, she has waxed my nether regions for over 3 years and I've seen her exclusively in that time. Chicago is saturated with spas, salons, and deals for bikini waxes so it can be tough for a girl to find someone she trusts to dive into her business. I was lucky to have worked with Katie at a previous location and came to rely heavily on her for keeping my bits maintained. When life happened and we had to move to different locations I have followed her, not just because we have a friendly relationship but because she really is a waxing wizard. I would travel to see her anywhere, she is so worth it. She is fast, relatively painless (it is still a bikini wax), and efficient. I hear from all the girls I've recommended to her that she keeps the environment relaxed and makes sure it isn't awkward or uncomfortable. Katie is quick but she is thorough, I always leave happy, I believe that is a skill she has with all her clients not just her friends. Gia is a miracle worker! The facial i received was so relaxing !! Defiantly the most relaxing facial I have ever gotten. She took time to tell me what she was doing and why which I like because then I'm informed on what treatments my skin has gotten. This review is nearly 2.5 years overdue! I started seeing Gia when she was renting space in Lincoln Park and after my first facial knew that I would follow her anywhere...but luckily for me, we ended up moving to the same neighborhood. Reasons I love SpaSocial: 1. First and foremost - Gia knows her sh!t. I had terrible melasma /brown spots from the sun with the worst on my lip (I lovingly referred to it as my "sun-stache"). It was terribly embarrassing and I had tried every whitening cream and been to a number of aestheticians who were unable to help me. I thought I was going to have to live under big hats and umbrellas forever. Gia recommended a series of Dermalogica peels and after the first series the melasma was gone! I've been seeing her religiously ever since and can say that I no longer worry about brown spots or that sunstache. I've recommended her to all my friends who love her now too and even my fiancé now sees both Gia and Anna. 2. Gia is down to earth and the treatments just fly by. We can chat the entire time or I can just lay there and be - no matter what mood I'm in, Gia just goes with it and makes my skin look amazing. 3. The shop is just...cool. I'm always a little uncomfortable in other spa/facial places that seem to take themselves too seriously. The weird spa music and decor just stresses me out because I feel like I'm not doing the right thing or in the right spot. SpaSocial is the exact opposite - welcoming, relaxing, and just makes me feel at home. The décor is cool and everything has a story (just ask Gia). I could go on and on about how easy it is to book appointments, the awesome Dermalogica products, or the great energy between Gia and Anna Marie, but long story short, Spa Social is the best and well worth checking out. read more

Got my Brazilian here with Katie. It was my first time and it wasn't as bad as I heard. I actually thought it wasn't really painful and I'm sure it had to do with Katie's skill. She talked to me the entire time and tried to keep my mind off the pain. She was really quick and very professional. I think the whole thing took like 7mins haha. Spa social is life-changing... Gia does a masterful job of making her customers feel relaxed and their best selves. I've constantly been plagued with dry skin and a facial from Gia made me glow for several days. I really recommend their pumpkin facial. The enzymes in it really helped take away my dry dead skin and will leave you feeling great. As for the ambience and decor, the venue feels very current without being cold. A really beautiful interior that matches the service-level you'll receive. My best friend recommended I go here when I was in town and now I see why. I saw Anna Marie for a simple cut and shape recently. She was awesome, really took time to listen to what I wanted/needed. I have curly hair which can be tricky but she gave me a great cut that works for curly days or straight days. She also turned me on to boing by unite which I am loving for my curls.
