I prepaid August (first and last month) at the time I started the membership, so no additional August payment was due. Also, I had spoken directly with Lauren at the front desk to clear up any misunderstandings at the time I had hand-delivered my cancellation request. First time visit to Spa Xanadu: After a few months of too many stressful days ( the ones where you're feeling like a fire hydrant in a dog park) I decided I needed a day of relaxation. I booked a treatment for my day off and asked about using the spa facilities beforehand. They recommended arriving an hour before the appointment so I let them know I would be at Spa Xanadu the next day an hour in advance of my appointment. The next day, very excited to start my spa day, I arrived at Spa Xanadu to a locked door. I rang the bell and waited. I wondered if I should walk around the block since I was at the entrance next to the parking lot. Finally, a nice girl came and let me in apologizing for the door being locked. No biggie. Glad I wasn't stood up! We enter and I get set up with a fluffy robe and shown to the spa area. It is very clean and well-stocked with towels and basic necessities. I notice a sign reminding guests to limit themselves to TWO towels per visit. Uh-oh, California's water shortage has now reached the inner realm of day spas. At least, I think the sign is due to the washing involved. I must've been the first customer-although it was late morning-to arrive for a spa treatment because the steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi were off. The staff kindly turned them on for me, but the steam room which I was most looking forward to took about 30 minutes to warm up. )-: I checked at twenty minutes and it was still cold. It was disappointing that I couldn't fully enjoy the facilities at a relaxed pace because the spa wasn't ready for guests. the steam room finally warmed up some (yay!) and I went in and tried to bliss out. But, almost immediately the door opened and through the fog I hear my name. I jumped! Thankfully, it was just the masseuse. She said she was ready for me. I was confused and told her my appointment was not for another 30 minutes. She went and double checked on it and came back to the steam room and was very nice and apologized. She said she could take me now if I wanted or a little early. I declined and asked that we stick with my actual appointment time. All in all, my time trying to relax before the treatment did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. It did not leave a great first impression of Spa Xanadu. The massage itself was extremely good, so stars for the masseuse! She is worth returning to visit. Her technique and amount of pressure were great. Also, she added the most relaxing head massage. Unfortunately, The Vichy shower part after the body scrub was not at all the same as I had experienced at other spas. Usually, in a true Vichy there are multiple 6-7 cascading shower heads above you and the spray nozzle is also used. Although I saw the Vichy shower heads in the room, I only felt water from a spray hose type thing that the masseuse used to rinse me with. There were definitely not cascading waters over me which is the draw of the Vichy component. This was more like being hosed off. So I cannot recommend the way the Vichy is done here. I actually think it's a bit misleading to customers to call it Vichy in the package if only the hose part of the Vichy is being utilized. A Vichy shower experience is usually incredible. All in all, there is room for improvement here especially at the price point they charge. For not much more money, many luxury spas are ready to wow you. Spa Xanadu did not give me that pampering feel I get when I usually go to a spa. But, the staff is very nice, facilities clean, and masseuse very skilled. read more

I actually got referred to this place by one of my best friends and it was everything she said it would be. It was great. Very clean and the spa amenities were very clean. The customer service was amazing. They had a dry sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi in the women's facilities. However, the woman who massaged me was horrible. I think her name was cassandra. She was trying to talk to me all through my massage about her clients and schooling. Not very relaxing. I didn't want this to be the end for this place so I gave it another go.. I decided to go back for a couples massage and the couples amenities were just as great! I got massaged by silvia this time and she was amazing. Just perfect. They give you your privacy in the couples area and you are able to be in the same room. It was awesome. Very relaxing and super quiet. I recommend this spot 100%. Get 2 massages for 150. I had a wonderful time at spa Xanadu. I made an appt for an aromatherapy massage + reflexology this last Thursday afternoon. I came early for some jacuzzi time and was greeted warmly by the owner I believe. It seemed there were no others at the time so I had the jacuzzi all for myself for about 20 minutes before the appt. Taress was excellent and acknowledged my needs. I fell asleep during my session which I think was another good sign I was at the right spot. The facility itself was clean, had the refreshing spa smell :) and essential toiletries.I left feeling relaxed and recharged. I didn't want to leave, but I had to get back to reality. * Just a disclaimer: this was my first massage and spa experience. My boyfriend had taken me here as a birthday surprise a few months back. When he told me, I was super excited. We showed up a little early for our appointment but the Spa didn't mind. They had us fill out some basic paperwork which included demographics and health information (which is a great idea). After paperwork, the hosts took us to the upstairs private spa rooms for couples. She showed us around and left us to be alone...this part was kind of awkward cuz we wasn't sure what to do since this was both our first experience. We headed back downstairs to ask for further instructions, and they were COMPLETELY professional about it (I was expecting laughing and giggling because we were newbies). Well, it was a VERY relaxing prequel to what was coming up. My boyfriend had purchased the "sense of wellness" package which included a scrub, then a massage. True to the word "private", no one every entered our spa rooms. We figured this out after a few minutes and waited outside the private rooms. Two staff members then took us to the wet room, did the exfoliating (which was wonderful), then had us head back upstairs and to wait for the massage. The one helping me was Silvia. I cannot say one bad thing about my experience. Without ever telling her, she found the knot on my back that had been bothering me for months! She also found the tender spot on my neck from a fall injury. That is amazing to me that someone can feel what my needs are and massage that out. I loved this place and will be back!. read more

Wonderful experience with Donna for a microdermabrasion facial! She recommended this treatment for me instead of the herbal peel and I'm very pleased with how my skin feels and looks. A few more regular sessions with Donna and I'll look better than ever--less fine lines, more hydration, and healthy glow is coming back. ALSO, very important, includes in this service was a hand massage with hands left in the warming mittens (YUM) and an arm and shoulder rub with hot stones (so relaxing). This past weekend, I went for the June promo $199 for 1-hour deep-tissue massage, 1-hour acupressure facial, and mani pedi treatment. It was my first time to the facility and I've always been curious about it. This is what I found: Pros: - Decent facilities for the small size of the place (whirlpool, steam room, sauna, relaxing lauge area, showers, and lockers) - Provides nice amenities such as rubber slipper (so you don't slip), lots of towels, robe, lotions, combs, cotton balls, etc) - Courteous staff members - The treatments are good especially the mani/pedi, you sit in a massaging chair with a whirlpool foot bath. Cons: - Noticed some mildew stains in shower - Some staff member were talking loudly which was disruptive - Staff tried to push additional products/extra charges on me such as hot stones for the massage and some special more expensive mask for the facial. I do not enjoy the sales pitch or being pressured. - Pricey; for the regular price point, I would expect more exceptional service than what I experienced (i.e. more soothing and accommedating attitudes from staff). But since I paid a promo price, it's not too bad. Overall, I enjoyed my 3-hour session. The masseuse was skilled and professional, she knew exactly where my knots and tensions are. However, this was not the best massage I've had. Again, I expected more for the price espically I've had excellent massages for around $65 in the neighborhood (sadly the place no longer exists or I wouldn't go to Xanadu). I did not enjoy the facial much as it felt a bit "rushed" and the therapist kept chatting with me...issue of individual preference. I did enjoy the mini neck and shoulder massage that comes with the facial. The mani/pedi was great! I got more leg and arm massage from the mani/pedi, so I felt massaged over and over all day which was terrific for relaxation! I would have gave it higher marks if it weren't for the sales pitch and other cons (see above) that prevented me from fully enjoying my session. In the end, I didn't really feel wonderfully relaxed as I was expecting. For the price, I am hesitant to go back. read more

Had a facial here 2 times. The first time was okay. The 2nd time the woman (Ruby) asked if I wanted a foot massage or scalp massage. I chose foot massage and she barely touched my foot and used a paper towel to do the massage. Not sure if this is standard practice but it definitely interrupted my relaxation. I had a similar experience as William D. I am extremely disappointed. I went there to relax and left stressed out and upset. I used to love this place but it isnt the same as it was a few years ago. They reluctantly turned the steam room on for me, its like they didnt want to! my massage was good but it was not a full hour. When I went to pay I used my gift certificate and the man who rang me up at first told me it covered the massage and the tip. Then I asked about a lotion and a woman came out from the back to help me with it. Then she took over ringing me up and told me my gift certificate did not cover a tip! I thought I had already paid! The man was long gone and when I asked who the owner was this lady told me she was and I was shocked. Zero customer service skills. I did not purchase the lotion & I will not be returning. read more

I looked up Ann Karen and saw that it was super overpriced. Somehow I found this one with good reviews on yelp so I gave it a try. They were so nice and accommodating! I made an appt for an hour massage and hour facial for lower than the price of one service at Ann Karen. I got there and the place was nice, quiet, and peaceful. I was given my own locker, sandals, and robe. Sylvia did my massage and she was amazing! Anna was knowledgeable in telling me what I needed to do to keep up with my face routine. After both services I was able to relax in the spa for however long I wanted. They also have showers that come with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for your convenience. I went here after seeing the last review on yelp about the wax technian being care full with the wax treatments and not double dipping because I was gonna go in for my first professional wax job....brazilian....all of it off! I have done it before to myself a long time ago. My fiance and I used a Spa Finder gift card we got for Xmas on a couples massage. The sauna was not working, but the steam room and hot tub were and it was very nice and relaxing. Once it was our turn for our massage, they took us to separate rooms by mistake. I mentioned that we had booked a couples massage and that we would like the shared room. Apparently there is an entire upstairs suite for couples that we sort of missed out on, but it was all good as there is no hot tub up there (and being 2 girls we got to hang together regardless). The massage was wonderful, we really loved it. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. I can see how it can be a little confusing that two girls would want a couples massage, as they probably assumed we were friends. We will definitely be back, and hopefully they will remember that we are in fact - a couple, and not just friends. ;) read more

I've been wanting to try this spa for ages and finally got around to it. I was unfortunately a bit underwhelmed. The staff was really nice. I got there for their first appointment so the place wasn't crowded at all which was really nice, however, they also hadn't prepared anything for me. They were turning on lights as they walked me back and forgot to turn the steam room on. Even after we requested it be turned on they forgot to turn it on until after our services. The service was wonderful! I loved my facial and they had a special for 50% off the next service if you booked it that day so I made a 2nd appointment. The 2nd service was just as wonderful but the spa was worse. They again had nothing prepped for me and I even had to ask for water to be put out and paper towels in the bathroom. read more

I had a great time at Spa Xanadu! I offered to take out a very stressed friend and had short notice to find a spa. Yelpers had given it some fairly low numbers but once I read their gripes, I thought they sounded really petty and I booked it anyway. Great for me!!! My friend and I had the Heaven Scent package. After 30 minutes relaxing in the steam room and the jacuzzi we were pampered for 2.5 hours with massages and facials. The staff was welcoming and professional. The facilities were luxurious and yet warm and calming at the same time. Best of all, I didn't have to travel to Santa Monica's Exhale to have a premium spa experience, I was in Arcadia!
