I got a Groupon for here. They make you pay prior to your massage which made leaving extremely awkward. They bring you to your room with no instructions. The rooms all have glass doors so they can see in which makes privacy nearly non existence. The massage started off nice but then became majority painful. She started with the towel completely over me massaging me through that, then put oils on, had to leave the room to get hot stones and then went back to oils. The massage went from gentle to intense very quickly and I had to keep telling her that it hurt. She responded with how it was very tight and I had to again tell her to stop because it hurt so bad. They never previously asked if you are allergic to anything, where to focus or what to avoid. No aromatherapy at all and while relaxing music was playing you could easily hear everything outside the room. I was on my stomach the entire time which towards the end of the hour I was very uncomfortable. What I found most strange during the massage was pulling my entire underwear down to focus on my butt without asking or explaining what she was doing. They won't let you leave without tipping and seemed offended by what I gave. Overall I do not recommend. read more

I bought a Groupon voucher for SPA ZONE and called Spa Zone in Astoria, NY for an appointment at 607-358-6333. I spoke to the appointment receptionist who asked how was I going to pay cash or credit card. I told her I had a Groupon Voucher. I called early in the morning for an evening appointment. When I told her I had a Groupon Voucher she immediately told me I cannot make same day appointment with voucher. I asked her to schedule me for the next day. Upon arriving to the SPA and announced myself she saw it was the person who called the previous day with a Groupon Voucher and she told me I was 10 minutes late and I had to reschedule because I was late for my appointment. I told her Astoria's parking situation is very difficult as I was searching for a parking for 1/2 hour. She repeated I must reschedule. I told her I was not leaving as I traveled from far for this appointment. I looked around and it was not crowded and seemed very quiet with not much people. I realized she was being difficult because I was a voucher holder. She stated I must now wait until 6pm and asked me to sit down. I waiting about 15 minutes before she called me and asked me to show my voucher and she charged me an extra $5 for taxes. She then asked me to follow her to a room. I was there for a relaxing time and was treated very rude she gave me extra stress and anxiety. I was provided my massage and returned to front desk where she handed me a card with the name of the masseuse. She then stated next time please have cash or credit card to pay for services. I felt very insulted as the Groupon Voucher was not cheap and I had paid in advance. Be Careful People do not go to SPA Zone with Groupon Voucher you are going to be treated inferior to cash and credit card patronage. read more

Great spa experience for the price! It was my partners' and my anniversary this past week and we'd planned a lot of pricey things so I decided if we added anything else it would be something I found on Groupon- I found a great group on for a 60 min Couples massage at Spa zone. I read into the details (they charge 5$ per person for using the group on I guess, $10 extra) and they want you to wait 24 hrs before using the Groupon. I called and scheduled an appointment for 2 days later, told them ahead of time it was a group on and that I also wanted to add a facial for myself(without group on). Booking was simple and efficient. Provided my Groupon and paid $85 for facial + $10 for fee. Massages: amazing! We had two great masseuses work on us simultaneously with lots of oils and hot stones. Full body. I recently had a head injury and the head and neck massage I received was wonderful. I certainly felt like I was in the hands of an experienced masseuse. As soon as the massages were done, Tiffany, my esthetician, started the oxygen/acne facial. She was very thorough, and I came away literally glowing! It was a very very relaxing experience. I went for a couples massage today. The service was very good. The pressure was hard but she did check if I was okay. My husband and I haven't had a massage in over a year, I was able to get a full body, but his masseuse didn't have enough time in the hour to reach his legs with oil. We had a massage first over the towel, then a massage with oil, then had the hot stones shortly and I ended with a massage of my legs. My husbands masseuse was making noises throughout the hour, but overall it was a good experience. The spa was very clean and it was a great experience. We will definitely be back. read more

I am not someone who gets massages often, however, I am certain that the massage I got was not done properly. We requested female masseuse but they only had one female and one male working at the time. I got the male masseuse. Being inexperienced in receiving massages, I trusted that he knew what he was doing and figured it was a deeper massage. At times, I flinched and moved around to indicate that it was too much and he would let up, only to revisit the same spot and dig in with his knuckles like he was trying to break my bones. I woke up in more pain than I went into the massage parlor with. Im sure I have internal bruising from this experience. The two stars are for the hot stones and the female masseuse who did a great job massaging my friend but unfortunately, I will not be back, nor would I recommend this parlor to anyone for fear that they will get the male masseuse. read more

Was in dire need of a massage & this place did the trick! My massage therapist was great. She checked in throughout the massage & didn't stay in any area for a really long time. Would go back to trouble spots but gave the muscles time to relax instead of forcing it. My room was very clean, place to hang my stuff. I would give it zero stars if I could but unfortunately I have to give at least one. I bought a voucher thinking it was a great deal and instead it was a nightmare and all the reason why I don't do Groupons and living social deals, because places want the volume and don't want to honor the deal!! The owner just wants you to buy it and never wants to give you an appointment and wants to charge you more and not honor your voucher. This is disgusting business practice and if you are not going to honor what somebody bought then don't advertise there he is a disgusting human and runs a terrible terrible business. The staff are actually very friendly and nice. I did not get a bad experience. Got my massage, if they are going too hard just tell them. They did a good job.. I would say they don't tell you if you have any allergies or any place you need the massage more in or the intensity, which they should. I did see a coconut oil container I just hope they aren't double dipping once they get in contact with peoples feet and hands. The location was very easy to find but if you drive here I do recommend getting to the place a bit early because parking in Astoria can be a bitch. Especially on Broadway! The front desk man was very accommodating I got a Couples Massage for my parents and a reflexology massage for myself we were beyond satisfied. I had a 90-minute deep tissue massage with Vina, and it was great. If you like the kind of treatment that is a little more aggressive and not necessarily "relaxing", BUT leaves you feeling like a different person afterwards, this is a great option. I went in with a lot of neck pain and asked her to work on that; I felt much more flexible afterwards, and the next morning I woke up with virtually no pain whatsoever. I went to Spa Zone because I had a Groupon and I thought I would try it out. This was my first time having a massage and I was excited. However, the massage was really bad. The woman put a towel over my head the entire time and kept tucking it under so my head was very hot and for the entire one hour massage I felt like I couldn't breathe. It was also very painful for most of the massage but not having a massage before I thought this was normal and I didn't want to have her stop and insult her since this was new to me. I woke up this morning and my back is killing me, and the rest of my body feels like I got run over by a car. I don't think the woman who massaged me should be giving massages. I am disappointed my body hurts so much and also that I wasted the money ($45 for groupon, $5 for tax, $10 for tip). When you walk in it's a nice and clean place. They took me in at the appointment time and got started soon after. The spa table was comfortable, temperature in the rooms were just right. They had light spa music playing, and the place itself was calming. I've been to spas where there were a lot for talking going in the hallways, which it distracting and takes away from spa experience. I had Vina as my masseuse and she was just amazing! They're a little annoying when you use a Groupon. You need to book in advance and make sure you mention you have a Groupon. Apparently they have a 2 Groupon per day policy. Um. I think Now that because I had Groupon that is why we were treated badly. However, I paid almost hundred dollars.. I have been to massages in my hometown Japan and treated very well so I expected the same but I was wrong. When I call the customer at the spa, a cranky man always answered and I did not think I was being welcome. Finally, I could make an appointment and we arrived 5 minutes before the appointment. Nobody was at the front desk first and we are guided to a couple room. We are told to wait there. 7 minutes late, a lady came and she closed the door. 5 minutes later another lady came and she said to us 10 minutes wait. We were not happy because we had a tight schedule. And 30 minutes later I went to ask the man at the reception. ( a cranky guy). He told me that because we haven't taken off our clothing, massage therapists were waiting for us . I was speechless because nobody explained to us anything. The cranky man did not say sorry and there was no customer servise. I felt sorry for my husband who had to wait for a long time but since we were upset with the situation we left the spa without treatment.
