We are in the process of purchasing a home that was recently finished being built. Since we weren't part of the original construction (the original buyers backed out), we wanted to verify the house was in good shaped, so we called Ed to do our inspection. Ed was so awesome. Well, my home inspector buddy is now off pursuing other business opportunities, so I had to find another inspector for our recent home purchase. This buddy lives and did most of his work on the NE side of Houston, but was familiar with Ed and had good things to say about him. I'm an engineer by training, extremely detail oriented and a very picky customer when it comes to anything home or auto service related. Having had Ed inspect two houses for us in the first half of 2014, I'm very pleased with the thoroughness of the work. And now after having crawled into every nook and cranny of the new (to us) house myself over the last couple-weeks, I haven't found anything else that Ed didn't spot that I think could reasonably have been observed in any buyers inspection. My husband and I were buying a brand new house and after seeing how the builder patched up a mistake of theirs, we just weren't comfortable without having a third party inspector come in and reassure us the house we were buying is sound. Even before we hired Ed, he answered our questions and concerns about the patch job. When he came out, I found him to be very friendly and knowledgeable. He even gave me more information than I could possible retain to relate to my husband, extra information about the background and history of the code. He found a couple of major things we wouldn't have even thought to check for in our walk throughs! His thoroughness will surely save us when we go to sell years down the road. This is THE inspection company for any home buyer in their inspection area! As many other reviews have already stated, Space City Inspections is extremely thorough and experienced. In fact, another home inspector contacted my inspector for advice while we were there (he did NOT answer the call since he was on a job). I worked with Ed and he encouraged (if not required!) me to be there during the inspection and I'm glad I was there. This made the report much easier to understand and he even pointed out things that were not required by code, but he recommended to bring the house up to current safety codes. Very professional as well! We had a detailed conversation when I hired them and Ed said I could contact him at any future time with questions. I doubt you'll find that kind of commitment to their work from any other company. Also, he arranged for a third party pest inspection to be conducted at the same time at no extra cost to the home inspection! What a convenience and stress reliever for a home buyer! The builder / owner had built the home and had no idea what he was doing and spray painted things to make them look new. Needless to say we took his advice and when we found a new home he conducted the inspection on the second home. Ed recently inspected the house we were purchasing in Friendswood. We were able to work out the scheduling with only 2 business days notice. Ed was very thorough and explained things very well. He even inspected our pool, which we were thinking of getting a pool company to do, but Ed's pool inspection certifications and unbiased opinion (unlike a pool services company may have been) made the decision much easier.
