    Wings, wontons pepper shrimp

Went to Spade for drinks & food with a few buddies. Food and music was good. Ordered the wings, pepper shrimp and wontons. Unfortunately the service was poor. They had 3-4 bartenders just standing around and not serving. We were sitting at the bar and had to constantly call them to order drinks. They never came by to check how things are going or do we need anything. Spade you need to provide training for your staff on customer service. Customer is King. Check out other Caribbean spots like Tropical Nights, Island Mix or Starlight and you will notice the difference on customer service & experience.

If you compared the menu picture and actual drinks you can tell It doesn't look that great. The drink was very heavy on syrup or soda because there was no alcohol in it. I should've just gone to a chain bar to be quite honest. The vibe wasn't bad in terms of music and set up. Im quite surprised the non-alcoholic drink my girlfriend got was over $10. It's just sugar syrup! The service is pretty poor as well. Once the drinks were dropped, we never heard from our server again. The bill came and we got charged 13-15% service charge. It was a bit unfair to be paying that when the menu didn't have any disclaimers about this charge whatsoever. Sketchy bar! We were also told once we seated that we would get charge a cover fee because they were having an event later that evening. Like what?! Clubs downtown would never charge cover if its before a certain time for people who were already in and they were going to charge us after they sat us down? Highly don't recommend unless you just want vibes. LOL you can get vibes anywhere else you go to be honest.

I came to Dou Yin Bar aka DY Bar during their Soft Opening the past Saturday. My friends and I had a great time! The live music was very entertaining. This night, the duo were singing mainly popular mandarin songs that we know. Occasionally, you will have some brave souls that will take over the mic for a song for two lol. The food is alright - Popcorn chicken and Cuttlefish balls are typical items we see during Asian karaoke lol. I say skip the Ham Egg Noodles, unless you are SUPER hungry, the noods were way too soft for my liking. The cocktail drinks are super pretty and some were quite delicious. Since it was BOGO free during Soft Opening (until Nov 10), we ordered all 10 cocktails lol. I would recommend Kimochii, Berry Lady and Snowball :) The staff hardly speaks English, so make sure you speak slowly and use simpler words. Bring a friend who can speak mandarin would be helpful. If you want one of those nice booths with white couches, the staff mentioned it is minimum spending of $300, but I'm not sure how it works if you have a larger group. Perhaps, the next UYE here?

More recently, one of MY closest friends held his wedding reception just down the road (at Casa Deluz Banquet Hall) and instead of a dance floor at the end of the night, he booked one of the party rooms here for the afterparty. From the outside, this plaza looks like your typical, sketchy scarborough plaza but the first time I walked into this place I was blown away at how nice the interior was. The lighting is extremely cool and the decor is very fancy. Service is prompt and friendly. If you need a battery change for your mic(s) or ring the service bell, you get a person almost instantly in your room. The washroom is clean enough haha. I've been to some KTV places with REALLY dank washrooms. This one is clean and smells relatively fresh. Also, someone in another review mentioned that there was a lingering cigarette smell. I've been here a bunch of times and there's almost no cigarette smell. Visitors are pretty polite here. Most ppl that want to smoke, I see them go outside and having a smoke outside before coming back into the lounge. I will say, they do use a popular touch screen system for choosing songs. I would totally bump this review up to a 5 star rating if they kept the song list updated (Bar+ on Yonge St downtown has the most constantly updated song list I've ever experienced). There were a couple new songs that I tried to find but to no avail. I think this is the best karaoke place uptown in the GTA at the moment if I'm being honest! They are very honest w/ their minimum room charge pricing and they also have a killer happy hour special deal throughout the week if you're not booking a room on a weekend. It will continue to be my go-to place for karaoke as long as they don't increase prices.

Initially we were going for the idea of breakfast, but timing was a bit off from what we anticipated and it was a really nice lunch date instead. I love the Markham Marriott, the staff is always warm and welcoming. Draco has a very sleek, sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. We both ordered Bacon & Cheddar burgers. I opted for a Caesar salad as an appetizer and hubby ordered their Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak. Let's start with the apps. The Caesar salad was SO good! I wish I had taken a pic, but admittedly, my phone was tucked away and I was caught up in the cozy seating, great food and Christmas vibes of the restaurant and lobby. Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak: $33 - Buttercup Squash Puree and Truffle Oil - Everything you want Wagyu to be - tender, cooked to the perfect temp which left a nice warm red centre. This was melt in your mouth good! The burgers - these were perfection! Draco Bacon Cheddar Burger: $25 - Aged Cheddar with Crispy Bacon Strips; Crispy Onion Straws, Arugula and Garlic Aioli. This was a very well seasoned patty, so juicy and a substantial sized patty of fresh not frozen beef. The bun was lightly toasted, bacon crispy, easily taking this into my top 3 fav spots for burgers! Options for sides include fries, sweet potato fries, poutine, side Caesar or garden salad or truffle fries. We finished off our meal with 2 really good cappuccinos and just took our time before heading home. This was our first time back here in a few years. The food was exceptional as was the service and the warm staff. Draco is the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast, work or lunch date or a nice cozy dinner. They also have Christmas & New Years dinners and brunches. Relax in the restaurant with drinks or in the adjacent lounge, this is a great spot to unwind with some great food and drinks.

We felt like drinks and got the following: - Rum punch - Hibiscus paloma The rum punch had a generous amount of rum, with cubed fruit that felt like a bonus while enjoying this beverage. The pineapple wedge was awesome as a fruit lover. The hibiscus paloma was excellent. It's new on the menu and so refreshing on a hot summer day. Frankly, it went down too easily! The food was stellar! We ordered a bunch of dishes and shared them family-style. It is also famous for its barbeque chicken. This place does chicken right. Everything was delicious. If I were to select a couple of favourites, they would be the chilli chicken poutine and pepper shrimp. This place does fusions and spicy heat extremely well. The chilli chicken poutine was awesome. It combined my love for chilli chicken that is tender, flavourful, with some heat, with crispy fries and cheese curds. So good! The pepper shrimp were amazing. The shrimp were fresh. I loved the light batter that was crispy and crunchy. I love chicken wings. They were meaty and crispy. I tried a couple of sauces. The dragon sauce had a good amount of spice. I don't know what the other sauce was, but it didn't have a kick. It was mild and yummy. The extra special fried rice was awesome. I loved the fried rice. It had the right balance of veggies, chicken and rice. There was a lot of it! It was then topped with more chicken. The skin was crispy and yummy. The chicken was plump and moist. I took some home because we had a lot of leftover food and this dish was so comforting. The sweet and sour chicken had the right tangy-sweet mix. It wasn't overly sweet. I loved the veggies .This place does chicken so well. The morsels of chicken were yummy all coated in the sauce. The volcano chicken was excellent. It's crispy, tender chicken coated in a spicy sauce that packed a lot of good flavour. I got to witness one of the chefs out on the grill, barbequing chicken. I brought home a barbeque chicken meal over fried rice, that came with mac and cheese, and potato salad. This meal was divine. The chicken was flavourful and tender. The meat effortlessly fell off the bone. The fried rice was perfect. I loved the potato salad that had peas in it. The mac and cheese cube had good flavour and al dente macaroni. The portions are massive. Leaving hungry can't be done! I had a fabulous time. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks with good company. (316)

There are 2 locations north of Toronto, north essentially the same. It a large open space with tables far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sitting right next to strangers. There are a few appetizers like the cheese bread and some grilled vegetables. These are bland and have no real flavour. Their corn bread, however, is fantastic. The meat variety is good. Of course, they have picanha (a Brazilian cut of meat), Parmesan sirloin steak, sausage, chicken, grilled pineapple, shrimp, and others. They have beans and rice too. The staff walk around constantly and offer food. They're friendly and are happy to give you an extra piece of meat if that's the one you really like. These reason for 4 stars is that its nearly impossible to get meat that's prepared medium or well done. Not all my family likes rare/medium rare, and while it's possible to request well done, it takes 15-20 minutes to get 2 little pieces of meat by which time you're ready for more and have to wait another 15-20 minutes. This, while all the others are busily eating.

Last Sunday, I had lunch with six cool friends at Caribbean Cabana. It takes over from where Soca Palace used to be. This eatery is steps away from my go-to pharmacy and is next to National Bank in a plaza that takes me seven minutes to get to by car. Caribbean Cabana specializes in Guyanese-style Chinese food. It offers 100% halal food and is fully LLBO-licensed. We had quite the feast: - Cabana wonton soup - Curry goat with roti - Cabana fried rice - Cabana combo (appetizers) - Singapore Noodles - Basha (fish - spicy) - Cabana mixed veggies - Calamari - Lo-wontons We asked for water and got a carafe that had a yellow tint. We joked that it looked like urine. Luckily, it wasn't. I asked the same nice woman for a refill on the water. The carafe only filled four glasses out of the seven. It was a busy afternoon thanks to a Toronto Blue Jays game being broadcast while we were there. We eventually got the refill and were content. The wonton soup was full of veggies and wontons in a tasty broth. We got the Cabana combo, which featured spring rolls, fried wontons, fries, and onion rings. It was perfect for snacking and sharing! We continued our fry fest with calamari that was done to perfection. It was seasoning perfectly with none of that rubbery nonsense. It was my first time having lo-wontons. They were unique and now my favourite way to enjoy wontons in a light soy-based sauce with lots of green onion. The curry goat was amazing. The goat was flavourful and tender. The roti was so yummy. I dipped it in the curry. It was also yummy to eat on its own. The singaporian noodles were delicious. I loved the veggies, shrimp, and chicken mixed in with perfectly cooked vermicelli and the best sauce. Basha was excellent. Fried fish with a spicy kick. Not crazy. Highly flavourful with flaky fish, lightly battered, but super crispy and tender. Yum! Say yes to bell peppers and onions. I devoured the Cabana mixed veggies. This place does broccoli so well. Crunchy. Yummy. We ended up doing the holy protein trinity of beef, chicken, and shrimp. The veggies balanced our proteins out nicely. If you love chicken, you must try the Cabana fried rice. You get succulent chicken with crispy skin on top of the best fried rice. So good! We had some food left over.
