This is a very small but well decorated little place on Northern Blvd. in Bayside. We came in for their lunch special and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and drinks. Their margaritas , as expected, were quite good as was their guac and chips appetizer. Their lunch specials start with house salad (delicious dressing) or soup (chicken today, very hearty & good!) We enjoyed the grilled salmon (with morita sauce, mashed potatoes and avocado) and tilapia offerings (a nice sauce on top, see photos). Good portions and cooked to our liking. I enjoy restaurant hopping once in a while. I always passed by Spanglish, but never stopped in. Today I did. I went inside nice and mysterious, Dawn of the Dead. The menu is really colorful, beautiful photo on the front. There was one thing I didn't do right off the back. I wonder if you know what that is? I did check the bathroom to see if it was clean. Why do I do that? Say it with me. "A clean bathrooms means a clean kitchen" If the bathroom isn't clean we don't eat from there.. If you read my reviews it's a thing for me. We sat down and ordered they had a 20.00 3 course meal. It was 3 of us and we all got it. Are you ready for the pictures? Here we go. So the reason for the 2 is I ordered chicken wings from there happy hour menu it was suppose to be 6 pieces and the plate had 4 it was very breaded and stuck together. Needless to say I sent that back. I switched sides with my sister gave her my mashed potatoes and took her Yellow rice. Her Yellow rice was cold. I came here for brunch with a friend this past weekend and took advantage of their brunch special which is $30 for unlimited mimosas or Bellinis with an entree. I thought that offer was great and I had came here before for dinner and enjoyed the food. I ordered their Spanish omelette which came with roasted potatoes and a Cesar salad. The potatoes were roasted perfectly and well seasoned. The salad was crunchy and fresh. The omelette was filled with beans, chorizo and other delicious components. The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was the mimosas. I felt like the first 2 really tasted like mimosas with the right amount of champagne and orange juice. However, by the 3rd glass, my mimosa only tasted like orange juice which was disappointing. If the offer is bottomless, I would expect the mimosas to be consistent throughout the whole 90 minutes. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive which was a plus. Not sure if I would pay their bottomless brunch again due to the inconsistency in the mimosas. read more

If you like small portions and high prices, then this place might be for you. My partner and I came here on a Friday afternoon. A lot of the reviews would lead you to believe that this place is jumpin' 24/7. For us, it was a ghost town. Not a single other customer from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. And based on our experience, I can certainly see why. From the get-go, this restaurant screamed "Fusion." That being "Lots of window-dressing to distract you from the fact that you're being ripped off." And I don't use the word "ripped off" lightly. But when the SET of 3 taquerias we ordered were roughly equal to the size of ONE at a lot of other Mexican restaurants, you know this isn't gonna end well. And the taquerias were barely filled. I can take tiny tacos if they're at least stuffed to the gills with meat, cheese and veggies. These were so empty, I talked into one of them and thought I heard an echo. The drinks were fine, but it hardly made up for the fact that even after finishing our meal AND a side of chips and guac, we were still hungry. The 3.75% fee for credit card payments was just icing on the venerable cake. I don't know why this restaurant has so many positive reviews, but I suspect a lot of them are either fake or by tourists. We came here and had dinner with one of our dear friends in NY. She tells us it's a busy restaurant and we have to come early to avoid the crowd. I started my evening with a pitcher of Mojitos. It was pretty good. Next, we got our chips and guacamole. It tasted fresh and I like how crispy the chips were. I don't have a big appetite so I ordered three different kinds of tacos and an order of flautas to share with my wife. I love that they toasted the tortilla and to me, that's basic taco 101. One if my favorite spots on Bell! The food and drinks are consistently good. The bartender can make any type of margarita you want that's not on the menu. I usually go with a jalapeño margarita which is made to perfection. The dishes are large portions. Everything is good. Tacos are usually my go to. I need to take a star away because the music was incredibly too loud. My date and I couldn't hear each other at all until I sat next to her. I even saw one of my coworkers nearly walk in at some point but he didn't stay more than 5 seconds. When I saw him at work the next day, he said "the music was too loud." I came here for a midweek (Wednesday) birthday celebration with 2 friends. On Wednesdays, they advertise $7 margaritas and $30 margarita pitchers. When the server came by we asked if we could have 2 margaritas off the special. For whatever reason, the server kept trying to steer us away from ordering the drink special and telling us to order from the regular menu because the size of drink is smaller. I didn't think it was necessary to say all that and when we stuck to our original choices, he seemed annoyed. We got our drinks at our table from another server who made a point to say "$7 margaritas" lol... if they don't want us ordering the item, take it off the menu. It's a Wednesday, we aren't looking to get wasted. Set a weird tone to the start of the night. The margarita was smaller but it was good. We ordered a salad to share and then our entrees. The food was better than I'd thought it would be. I got the skirt steak that came with some shrimp. Their rice and beans were very good. I tried a bite of everyone's entrees and everything was flavorful and seasoned well. We ended the night with churros. You can never go wrong with churros. I love Spanglish! I've been here pre-COVID as well as for takeout and most recently outdoor dining! They take great precautions and even have you download the menu by scanning a QR code. The drinks here are definitely my favorite part- they frozen margaritas are super refreshing and delicious and come in a variety of flavors from peach to mango to raspberry! I ate here approximately 2 weeks ago . I will start by saying , the grilled octopus appetizer might be the best octopus i have ever had . It was perfectly cooked , mushrooms potatoes lemon and the most delicious beet purée. The Chicken Enchilada with mole sauce was equally as delicious ! Came here for a goodbye party for a coworker. Happy hour margaritas go great with very fresh guacamole and chips. The serving of guacamole was very generous so I had some leftover to add to my ahi tacos which were perfectly crunchy and just the right amount of spice. We came in because most of the restaurants in Whitestone were closing and we've tried almost every restaurant in Bayside. We were seated and appropriately taken care of. We ordered from the appetizers menu which was more than enough to fill us up. I Ended up getting the Ceviche Mixo, which was absolutely intense in flavor. The dressing was perfectly balanced between acidity and sweetness. The second appetizer I got was the Caesar Salad with steak topping. The steak was not cooked to my desired degree of doneness and served particularly charred on either side. The Parmesan was delicious that was drizzled over top of some very fresh lettuce. My girlfriend ordered the carne tacos and they were a bit underwhelming. The cheese melted inside was almost like store-brand American cheese. The second appetizer she ordered was the chicken empanada. Three words to describe it: Straight From Freezer The chicken tasted freezer burnt. The sauce it came with was smoky, slightly spicy but too heavy on the mayonnaise base. Basically ate both appetizers on a quarter glass of water. What a disappointment! We were looking forward to this place on a Saturday l, even before we knew there was a celebrity chef running the show. We were seated right away and I thought the loud electronic music was a bit much, but I'm open to new experiences. The music eventually was a hinderance as I had to really speak up to talk to my wife sitting right across from me. I expect that in a bar scene but dinner should be at a tolerable level. We looked over the menu which is really pricy for what it is. $24 enchilada? Get the hell out of here! Mexican food doesn't have to be dirt cheap, but I can get a great, authentic enchilada from numerous places for under $15. Big shot chefs have an ego that drives up prices on all of their menus and that drives me crazy. That being said we decided let's keep it simple and try a quesadilla and have a drink or two. They also bring out tortilla chips and a delicious salsa. The wines were pricey but I accept that in most places so this is no different. That being said my wife wanted a Rioja which they were out of. She had a backup of a Savignon Blanc and when she tasted it she didn't look happy. She had me try it and it tasted a little bitter and funky. She asked the waiter if the bottle had been opened for awhile and he said no but would go and check. He came over with a fresh bottle which was very professional. Upon tasting the wine again she replies "Oh no, this is just a bad wine". She sucked it up and drank the glass. Our mushroom quesadilla came out right away, which is good. The flavor was decent but the mushrooms were no existent, it should have been a cheese quesadilla at that point. I expected a lot more but got a run of the mill quesadilla with some cilantro and sauce on top. The size was decent and could be worth the $12. There was also a stem of some sorts that was very large and inedible (see picture). We couldn't wait to get out of there but eventually had to flag down the waiter because he hadn't been back in awhile. Overall just another overpriced restaurant with OKAY food.
