The cheeses is everything anyone could ask for from a traditional steak. All the to the very last bite of the amazingly fresh sandwich was delightful.. their wings were cooked expertly and were well sized. I tried a mix of medium hot and garlic Parmesan. Excellent combo, everyone should try. Last but not least, the Rueben Philly...excellent! There were no words to explain exactly how much I enjoyed it. This dish alone is work five stars! We started with the sweet corn appetizer, which was unlike anything I've had before, truly a great way to kick off the meal. Highly recommend! For my main, I ordered the traditional Philly cheesesteak with tater tots. Wow. It was large, cheesy, and absolutely overflowing with veggies, everything you want in a proper cheesesteak. I'd give it an 8.9/10 easily. The tater tots were also a hit -- crispy, fresh, and the perfect side. I will definitely be back for this combo alone. My fiancé went with the 8-piece lemon garlic wings, and unfortunately, that was the one letdown of the visit. He found them to be pretty tasteless and ended up adding salt to compensate, a 2/10 for him on the wings. However, he did love the fries, which looked and tasted incredibly fresh. What really made the experience special was the atmosphere. Our server knew regulars by name, the kitchen staff were joking with each other, and the whole place had a warm, family-feel vibe that you just can't manufacture. I wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing from the start. The music was very loud, making conversation difficult, and several tables were dirty when we arrived. We had to ask for ours to be wiped down despite visible food on it. Service was a major issue. Shortly after sitting down--before we had time to review the menu--the server asked for our order and appeared frustrated when we asked for a moment. I also had to request no ice multiple times. Drink refills didn't happen until we asked for the bill. We ordered cheesesteaks. They arrived hot and juicy, and the cheese was mixed well, but overall they lacked flavor. The bread was very soft, and the onions and hot peppers I requested were not noticeable. Based on personal comparison, Geno's, Pat's, and Dalessandro's offer better cheesesteaks. The fries were acceptable. They were soft rather than crispy, which I personally don't mind. Overall, this was not a place I would return to or recommend for a cheesesteak. We used to frequent this place years ago, before it became Spanky's. Back then it was Dan's Subs, and we were regulars. We moved out of the immediate area before Spanky's moved in. Needless to say, it still holds many memories...and the cheesesteaks are still good. Not fancy, but who expects or wants a fancy cheesesteak place? The staff were friendly and attentive, and my cheesesteak and fries, and sweet tea made it a "happy" place. There's plenty of booth and table seating with menus already placed at available tables. Both times we have been there was only one server with another person working the register. For about $40 my husband and I were able to get two half Philly cheesesteaks which come with fries plus two fountain drinks. Spanky's Cheesesteak & Wing Factory at 309 State Road 7 in Margate was a treat after some thrifting on Saturday. To my surprise, the place was empty during prime lunch time. I ordered the ranch chicken Philly and buffalo chicken Philly half sandwiches to go. They came with a side of handcut French fries or you could sub for chips. The bread was super soft.
