My wife had the salad bar I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato ham and bacon by time my cold grilled cheese came out with a bunch of crumbled up stale chips my wife had eaton two bowls of soup and two trips to the salad bar. The cheese was not even melted and the ham and tomato were cold. A grilled cheese made proper should be melted together and to hot to eat when it gets to your table. If I owned a restaurant that served chips with the sandwich they would be freshly made to order not stale and crushed as though someone sat on the bag. When you grow tired of seafood, chi-chi places, and long lines for mediocre food at often outrageous prices, head for Spanky's. An eclectic menu that has something for everyone - a selection that I call 'just food'. We were there for lunch - steak sandwich and fish sandwich with fries. Both were outstanding - not just the meat - buns were fresh, lettuce and tomato Were too. Nice to look at some age appropriate antiques rather than fancy oil paintings or an undersea decor. We didn't 'do' salad bar, but it looked excellent. Service was competent and friendly without being ingratiating. We love many of the restaurants here, it after a few weeks I am craving 'just food'. My husband and I were in Naples one afternoon recently and had a hankering for prime rib. Not so easy to find these days on the menu. Spanky's has been on my "radar" for some time and we were very pleasantly surprised by our dining experience. It is a family type place and has been around for decades, very casual and unfussy. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and proceeded to rattle off from memory the specials of the day which sounded wonderful, however, as previously mentioned we had prime rib on our minds. I ordered mine medium- well and my husband ordered rare and both plates came to the table as ordered with a baked potato or sweet potato. The salad bar could have been added with an upcharge. Anyone who knows me knows I frown on the upcharge portion of the program and we declined the salad option. The prime rib was as good as any fine restaurant in Naples, tender and juicy, with wonderful flavor. The price was $13.95 and we did dine early. It may have been an early bird special price and was well worth every penny. My husband had a pie dessert which came out in a tiny Mason jar and he just loved it. The presentation was quirky and cute. Great dining experience and will be returning this weekend. read more

A minor clarification. The extra star is for an earnest friendly staff plus value and nostalgia. Favorites are steak sandwich, chili, prime rib, and the bar. Not a cookie cutter Applebee's, but an authentic, challenged bar. In Texas we call these bars, intercontinental, not a fern bar but the stools have seatbelts, So strap yourself in and enjoy the journey. I have been going to Spanky's twice a year since I was a kid when I visit my grandparents in Naples Florida. It was always my favorite place. This recent visit we asked the hostess for a table close to the door because my grandfather runs out of breath from walking and is on oxygen and has a hard time walking. The hostess told us they couldn't do that because the waitresses have certain seating. I worked in a restaurant for 6 years and we ALWAYS accommodate to those who need it. She tried sitting us at the FARTHEST table when there was no one in the entire restaurant, until my grandfather couldn't walk any longer and had to sit for a break. Then we asked her again for the table he was sitting at and she still gave us an attitude. I'm so upset because we always loved the environment and the staff. I'm upset the business hired and keeps this kind of staff. It was very sad. She was I think a hostess and was wearing red if that helps. First time diner at Sparky's and enjoyed it very much. The bar was an old time corner bar atmosphere with many happy people enjoying life. Had dinner with friends and enjoyed the Prime Rib special very much. The salad bar was your standard fare. Service was a bit slow due to the number of people being served. The restaurant atmosphere was bustling! A bit noisy but a fun time was had by all. If you want an intimate dinner this is not the place but if your looking for a good family dinner, I highly recommend Sparky's Speakeasy! read more

Food was equal to a school lunch. Salad bar was great but basic. Glad they had it though. I only made it about 3 bites into my nasty "prime rib" wish I took a picture. My dog would have walked away. It always surprises me if someone says they like Spanky's. It's an outdated tourist trap. Basically canned soup in the salad bar and not much of a selection to make a salad. For the price it's definitely not worth it. My dad swears they put msg in the lettuce to make you fill up faster. Well, we really WANTED to like this place because of the awesome decor, which did not disappoint. The food however, well maybe we caught the cook on a bad day? Basa fish was undercooked (sandwich); ribeye steak sandwich very fatty and to top it off, we found a dead gnat in the cottage cheese from the salad bar. I went into Spanky's tonight after a long day at work to enjoy a nice dinner with family. I was impressed beyond belief. Food was delicious. Service was spectacular. Management was over the top. I forgot my left over prime rib on the table and when I returned, it already tossed in the garbage. Not to worry. Management or owner gave me a whole new piece of prime rib. I am not a very big fan of this place. The ribs got me sick, and were not very cooked. The place is dirty. I do not recommend eating here.

The interior is really cool that's why they are getting 2 starts. I was in town with my son and we are there. Got to sit in barber chairs. But the food was horrific. I had the prime rib which was disgusting and my son had chicken fingers which at the age of 4 he said were bad and could not eat them. Being new to Naples we thought we'd give Spanky's a try,after all I love the Little Rascals and cutesy theme restaurants,well that's where the fun ends!! Things were bad from the start, from the deadbeat at the door to the crap looking salad bar the lame slow service, and this was lunch,the boring menu,we ordered a cheeseburger and fried basa fish sandwich and had to pay extra for prefab frozen fries that stuck together, the burger was a frozen tasteless patty as was the fish,the Cole slaw tasted sour,here's where the sad part comes in ,the slogan on the back of their shirts claim.."Food so good you'll think we kidnapped your Mother " well I don't know who's Mother they kidnapped, but she must be deaf,dumb and blind and lacking tastebuds to boot! Save your money, it also claims to be under new management, I suggest they let mama free and get out of the business asap!! read more

Had dinner here on a Thursday night during a recent Naples visit. We were seated quickly and our server was there in a flash. I had the burger, which was very good, but could you please offer a smaller version? 8 oz of red meat is a big serving for those of us with a smaller appetite. The fries were hot and thick cut; good as well. My companions had the salad bar and a grilled chicken sandwich; both seemed pleased with their choices. The Yuengling on tap was enjoyable as well. Any number of Spanky's shirts, mugs, beer coolers, etc are available for purchase for those who enjoy the Little Rascals. Decent place for a quick meal. read more

Five of us went there for dinner. I ordered a steak dinner. The meat was rotten! Tasted and smelled bad! Sent it back and told the server to have the cook taste it. They brought me back a fresh steak. Other than the rotten steak everything else was fine. No one else in our party had a bad meal. I don't think I will ever go back. Rotten meat is not good! Yelp posted bad directions, & no phone number either...to open up with..& this was a Birthday Party w/Family members, all coming from Fort Myers, Fla..It took us an hour, because make a right on Golden Gate a Left on Airport & a right on airport...Noooo can't do both, so we proceeded to drive several miles in the wrong direction! I had my not so happy 91 year old Uncle with me, too, & that made him, upset to the max! We called my Family who were awaiting there for us on time...so we finally made it there 5 minutes late, but that set the stage for not so happy Family member! The food was great, expensive, but great, & the place no offense needs a good cleaning up! Betty Boops vine was full of dust..ect..The service was good, & I would also suggest some music be played from back in the days..We never really got to visit salad bar, ect..Everybody was ready to go home after 1 hr..They did have a great remember when, which was the whole idea...but seems nobody wanted to stay awhile, & see all..?! After 31 years, Spanky's is now under new ownership! As promised to the locals, the décor and comradery will not be changing. I have dined at Spanky's many times and never had a bad meal or service until recently. The service was great. I would rate the service a 4.5 stars. The server was attentive and on top of everything. I noticed many workers on the floor serving food, cleaning tables and tending to customers needs, and doing so with a pleasant and friendly attitude. The food fell short this visit. Okay, I did visit on a Thursday evening, which is when they have a "prime rib" special. So the place was very busy. But we ordered steaks, a sirloin and a rib eye. They were both horrible. The sirloin seemed old or perhaps frozen and microwaved to thaw before the cooking process. It had a copious amount of fat for a sirloin and was tasteless. The ribeye, usually a fatty cut, was more fat than beef. Really, no kidding, at least 60% of the ribeye was inedible. The only flavor the ribeye had was fat and greasy. Also we ordered both of them to be cooked medium/rare; well the sirloin was cooked medium and the ribeye was very rare. So disappointing. I was very surprised that the server didn't say anything as he seemed so attentive, but I was not at the table when he took my plate and my dining companion isn't comfortable with that conversation. I felt as though I lost my opportunity to say anything, so live and learn. When an establishment is having a "special", just stick to the special like all of the other patrons!! I should comment on the salad and soup bar. While the salad portion was replenished in a timely fashion the soup was not. The salad part was okay, pretty decent selection. But the soup was an unappealing bottom of the barrel portion. I would still recommend this establishment but stick to the specials??? read more

Thinking about going to Spanky's? Think again. Returned tonight after several years since last visit. When our friends suggested we both said "Spanky's - YES!" Oh, how wrong we were. Loud. Busy. Unable to hear. Seated at a table that should not have been used. Next to salad bar (not a bad salad bar at all!) We were constantly bumped by folks going to the salad bar and back. Food was OK. Heavy with sodium. Had lamb, and basa. Sides were OK but uninspired. Worst was that our fellow diner had cold seafood liquid dumped on her back by the server. Approached the manager privately and told her of the problem with the table and the spill. Asked that something be done for our friend. All she said was you should have told me sooner. Manager who said she was the owner never approached our table or spoke to our fellow diner. Bad performance. We won't be going back and suggest you don't either unless you like average food, lots of noise, crowded conditions and a management/ownership that doesn't care. read more

We know the previous owners eluded to on the back of your menu. Good friends. We have frequented the bar and restaurant often for dinner and have always enjoyed our experiences. Tonight was a nightmare. The food was wonderful as always and so was the service. Then we received the bill! I didn't even have an entre (only salad bar) and it was $87.00. What is with getting the best prime rib and then having to pay an additional $5.95 for salad?! Now we know why the place was empty and we are not going back for dinner. We will be sure to let our friends know you are ripping off the public. And to think we supported you during the slow months of the summer for years. If we want to pay that price there are plenty of wonderful restuarants around. We do not need to go to McDonalds. read more
