We were seated in a comfortable booth, and the overall ambiance was so lovely with high ceilings. We got there in time to enjoy a happy hour dinner menu. I ordered the Pork Ragu over Gnocchi as featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." It was so yummy! And the portion was very generous. Service was also very friendly and helpful. Tried out this farm to table spot and walked away with a solid impression overall. I went with the In House Smoked Turkey Sandwich from their lunch special at $19.50. Naturally smoked turkey with brie, pesto mayo, and tomato jam on gluten free bread, served with a fresh Caesar salad. Pretty good sandwich. The turkey was flavorful, the bread held up nicely, and the salad was crisp with a good coating of parmesan. Decent value for what you get. My wife ordered the fish tacos, which came with a side salad topped with blue cheese crumbles and red onion. The presentation looked great with nice char on the fish, fresh pico, and shredded cabbage piled high. But the execution fell short. The fish itself was chewy and not very tender. That's a problem when fish tacos are one of your popular dishes. On the bright side, our waitress was nice and attentive. No complaints on the service front. The cozy atmosphere lives up to the farm to table vibe they're going for. The Verdict: The Local delivers a decent lunch with good service and fresh ingredients. Just OK. We were in Naples a few weeks ago searching for a chill dinner location and the reviews of The Local looked decent so we gave it a try. Place is small and in a strip mall with some outdoor seating but we asked for a booth in the corner and were promptly seated. Place is small, but the high ceilings and ample light make for a relaxing experience. Our server promptly advised us of the menu which was on a blackboard behind us, along with his recommendations. He took our wine order and promptly returned. Wine list is minimal but a decent variety and very good value. We had an albarino. We ordered some suggested brushetta appetizers. Pig and fig, shrimp and the mushrooms. All OK but nothing special. For entrees we had 1. the Blue Crab Tagliatelle - Blue Crab, Uni Butter, Herbed Breadcrumbs. Very tasty but pasta was not al dente. 2. The Pork Ragu - Potato Gnocchi, Ricotta, Rosemary which was OK but again, nothing outstanding or memorable. 3. Pistachio Pesto Pappardelle - Pistachio Pesto, Grilled Chicken, Buratta, Cream. Very ordinare. Again pasta overcooked. For desert we enjoyed the bread pudding. Server was chatty about a recent visit from Guy Fieri. I havent watched the episode yet. I will be curious to hear what he thinks. We had a nice time but I dont think we would return. We decided to try The Local for their advertised brunch this past Sunday. You would think this means a large breakfast / lunch menu with plenty of options. I wanted to order a standard breakfast (3 eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast) The server (who was helpful) said that all of those items had to be ordered a 'la carte. My girlfriend did not find any breakfast items she liked on the menu and just ordered pancakes. So, for two eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, the absolute worst hash brown cake thing I ever had and 2 pancakes was $36.00. A complete and total rip off. Will not be returning. The food was borderline ok, and the prices are a joke. All the prices for the items posted in the restaurant chalkboards have been erased. They operate the front counter and check out on a single iPad. Whoever runs this place has no idea what brunch means, or how to offer a breakfast menu. read more

We eat there a few times a year and the food is average. I ordered takeout tonight and after waiting 20 minutes for the order over the time they said it would be ready the order was messed up. I asked how long it would take to correct it and the order taker laughed and said it would be at least another half hour. I simply left and overpaid about $50 plus a tip. We live at Kensington and we will be sure to tell our friends about this bad experience. We won't be back. Naples has too many excellent restaurants to put up with rude service and mediocre food. read more

AMAZING! Delicious food! I immediately fell in love with this place when I saw the menu. The drink menu had plenty wine glads options as well as the choice to but a whole bottle. The pig and fig brushetta was full pf so much flavor it had a local hot honey as well as creamy goat cheese which was not overpowering it all complimented each-other v well. About a year ago, we saw this restaurant on triple D and decided if we were ever in Naples we would check it out. Just so happen that we ended up being in Naples this last weekend and decided to dine in there. We went there on Friday evening early fairly crowded. Doing good business. That's always a good sign. My family and I had three different pasta dishes, one being the Pork Ragu, one the Lamb Bolognese over Parpadell and the other was Carbonara. All three of these dishes were made with fresh pasta that they prepare. Before the entrées we started off with Caesars that were actually made with spinach and a tomato Caprese salad. All the salads were delicious. We didn't take any pictures as we were famished and we ate pretty quickly, but I would say everything here was outstanding and I'm actually looking forward to enjoying the rest of the leftovers afternoon. read more

It has been a while since our last visit, but so pleased we came again for the "sunset menu". While the obviously new hostess was a bit more than oblivious, our bartender Sam was terrific giving us a great overview of the current craft beer offerings and menu overview when asked. The restaurant filled up quickly for a Monday night by 6:30. The ambiance in this strip mall location restaurant is very good and the outdoor dining area is not overwhelmed by road noise as a result of the setback from the road and associated foliage. On the dining side, and here is where the Chef Owner factor shines through even more, ingredient selection and their combinations, preparations and finally, presentations are truly beyond outstanding. I had the cowboy rubbed brisket which has a touch of heat in smoked coffee and sugar rub and an overall extraordinary flavor and my wife had the grilled pork loin. She raved about the flavor of the marinated pork in a combination which includes figs, gorgonzola, and roasted fennel over perfectly prepared polenta. read more

This is the best kept secret in Naples! I have been complaining for 2 years that the food in Naples is the ONLY thing that doesn't do it for me. This restaurant has not only amazing meat entrees but also has exquisite vegan entrees as well! And it doesn't stop there! They ALSO have vegan appetizers that are top notch! Everything is fresh and made from scratch. If you're a vegan cheese lover, have their house made almond ricotta cheese, it is to die for. If you like steak, have their Delmonico steak, insane! To put your experience absolutely over the top, ask for John. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the entire menu, including the wine. My mother and I visited there today and we both ordered salad. About half way through the salads an inch worm crawled out of my mother's salad and fell on the table! The manager came to the table and made the excuse that the food is all local and doesn't have pesticides. On top of that. He didn't even offer to reduce the cost citing that the vegetables are expensive. They could have at least washed the vegetables before they served them. read more

First visit. Chatty, annoying waiter who did more gabbing and raving about the food than listening. A simple hamburger took forever to get to our table, barely warm and overcooked. Waiter never asked how we preferred to have it cooked. Sweet potato fries were badly charred and sent back...taken off the bill, but that also meant the meal was nutritionally incomplete. Salmon entree was just okay and relatively small portion. Inside seating filled up quickly and became very loud. The Local is a breath of fresh air in Naples. It's not overly styled, and while the farm to table concept is ubiquitous in most areas of the country, it seems a bit more rare around here. The vibe is warm, friendly, and open, and the space is nice without being fussy. We came for dinner and just happened to overlap with the "sunset menu" time, which is either from 4-6 or 4-6:15 (the chalkboard says one thing, the menu says another). Either way, we got there a few minutes before six and they offered us that menu along with their regular dinner menu. While the regular dinner menu looked great, the sunset menu looked too good for any of us to pass up. You get a soup (red lentil or one of the several soups of the day), a salad (caesar or house salad), and an entree. Depending on what type of entree you get, the whole thing costs either $25 or $30, and there are many good options for either. All in all, a pretty good deal for dinner. Their focus is on sourcing produce from local farms, and everything is made from scratch in house, including their pastas. And--you can totally tell the difference that makes. Two of us had the gumbo, and two had the red lentil soup. I had the caesar salad, and one of my dinner buddies had the house salad (it's called the tomato salad on the menu). Two of us had the pistachio pesto pappardelle, one had the pork tenderloin, and another had the mushroom risotto. Everything was delicious, fresh, perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned. The pappardelle is the perfect texture and bathed in creamy but not overly-heavy sauce, tossed with chunks of juicy grilled chicken and a small ball of burrata. The gumbo, which is cup size, was also delicious. I tried some of my dinner buddy's risotto, and it was so well infused with mushroom flavor. The pork tenderloin was apparently really flavorful as well. Portion sizes for the entrees are generous, but nothing is overly rich or heavy here, and we even had an appetite left for dessert. We had two pieces of apple mulberry pie, with ice cream, and were presented with huge lovely pieces of pie with three scoops of vanilla ice cream. The pie was stuffed to the gills, not too sweet, and clearly homemade, which I LOVE. A perfect ending to an excellent meal. Service is friendly, attentive, and fast, and overall I highly recommend visiting The Local. read more

Don't be put off by the location in a former Bed Bath & Beyond center or the fact that it was profiled on Diners Dives & Drive Ins. The Local is none of those. It is fabulous American food restaurant with great service. So many items on the menu to try and lots of gluten free and vegan adjustments. We have to drive 30 minutes from our home to get there, but it is so worth it! read more

Would love to go back and try more gluten free options. Four stars because not fair to give the fifth star until I've tasted more than these two items. What a great spot! The first waiter seemed a little confused but once we got the correct menus, we ordered from the sunset dinner special. The red lentil soup was homemade and terrific. I enjoyed my tomato salad (just greens with a slice of tomato) with blue cheese vinaigrette. Main course was a handmade pasta with pistachio pesto. A nice piece of burella cheese on top. This place is such a great find! Small, trendy decor, very friendly, accommodating staff. I'm gluten free, and they list items that can be made GF right on their menu, which makes things sooo much easier for me (and for the staff!). They have vegan options, too, and, of course, the ingredients they use are locally farmed and harvested. There are some organic and grass-fed items on special too, plus some desserts, although we haven't tried those...yet. I will say that the grilled peach salad is my favorite thing right now! So good, sweet and creamy, and flavors are well-paired. And, my husband loved his burger, too. Been there twice, but will definitely be back. It's a bit of a drive for us, but totally worth it! If you make it for dinner, you must try the Carbonara! It's my new favorite. It will change your life! read more

Got in from the airport and we needed to eat before we got hangry. I had bookmarked The Local before coming down and we pulled in as soon as I saw it. We needed to start with some beers to look over the menu so I had the V-Twin Vienna Lager - man, I could drink these all summer. Wifey ordered a Hollywood Brewing Mango IPA - I don't like IPAs and I loved this. My son had a very tasty Cold brew coffee and my daughter just got a coke-it came in a can. Our waitress was over right away and was very nice. I ordered the Blackened fish tacos with a side salad; my daughter got the Local Cobb Salad with chicken; my son ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken sandwich with kimchi on the side and fries; and Wifey got the Watermelon salad with blackened shrimp. All of us loved our meals. That were all very simple and very delicious. If I had one 'comment' it would be to add a bit more seasoning to the fish tacos. The chicken was dry and tough and hard to cut even with a knife. When I complained the waitress couldnt have cared less.
