This is a great BBQ restaurant and bar hangout with live music! One room is the restaurant and the other room is a full bar with dance floor & stage area. And from what the bartender says, they're soon to expand and add another room! We went to see a friends band play, Sherlock Ohms, which was great! But this place is also known for winning the ALLIGATOR RON'S ANNUAL WINGSFEST competitions at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds for several years! This place gives you the feel of being in the country with hay stacks & saddles to sit on, and decorated country style. The staff is very friendly and its reasonably priced. We ordered the dry BBQ chicken wings with fries which was fantastic & definitely cured any chicken wing craving! Will definitely be back to try more! read more

The first thing you'll feel upon entering Spanx The Hog Barbecue is out of place. Not because the staff doesn't make you feel welcome - they absolutely do. But right off the bat, it's obvious that just about everyone their knows each other and have for many years. It's almost as if everyone in their is a regular, and they're all one big group of friends and family, it's quite charming. This is was initially sets the "homey" feel, that is then carried throughout the entire dining experience. Family owned and operated through and through. The restaurant is attached to a full bar. The bar had a DJ who had everyone on their feet, and the restaurant has video games scattered throughout. Children are running around between the restaurant and the bar while their family and the restaurant staff alike keep an eye on them. This is the kind of thing that would usually irk me, but it suits the location. On to the food. The wings... oh the wings. I stick to their dry rub wings, which are to absolutely die for. They have their homemade BBQ sauces that you can drench the wings in - all of their BBQ sauce options are amazing. If you're into hot sauce, give their habanero sauce a try. They sell a take-home version of this sauce (yes, I had to). I'm also a big fan of their sides. Their sweet potato fries are the perfect mix of sweet and savoy. Their mac and cheese is perfectly creamy and I'm a big fan of their baked beans. I've ordered the brisket platter on two occasions and had two different experiences. The first time I had it, the meat was full of flavor and quite lean. The second time, the brisket was a bit bland and very fatty. The BBQ sauce helped, but it wasn't consistent with my first experience. All in all, I'd highly recommend this BBQ spot. The food is quite tasty, the service is phenomenal and the environment is so "tight knit" that it'll make you a regular, too. read more

Ordered pulled chicken bbq sandwich. The chicken had a really off taste- like it had been sitting in a hot well too long & over cooked. Very dry like sawdust. No BBQ sauce came with it. Bottom of bun was soggy with water to a point of completely inedible. Got fried okra - okra was not fried & still very raw. Also, got the Pulled Pork Philly- saw complaint- dry, off flavor & soggy bun. Not sure what's going on with this establishment but will not be ordering again.Defiantly would not consider this place a BBQ Place. read more

Stopped in for a take-out order for 3 people. Ordered a Full Rack of Ribs with sides of Green Beans and Mac&Cheese. Each if us were thrilled with the meaty, fall-off-the-bone ribs and very tasty sides. We had the Tangy Sauce, which was very flavorful. There was plenty of food for 3 hungry people. Service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. Will definitely return for the live entertainment, several nights each week. Looks like a fun place. read more

It was a gem! Stumbled across the place after a long day of work and im so glad Neighboring bbq joints around SPANX are no good! The brisket here was melt in your mouth good! The sauces where amazing and the ribs so tender! Staff was friendly and helped me choose the best! I was curious of the other places nearby and their brisket was like chuck beef, hard and flavorless. This is a Local Bar and Restaurant and the bartenders are all very friendly after going there 3 times they knew me by my first name. I have been trying their food menu on every visit the Cheese steak and Hot sausage along with the giant pretzel fried okra and the Fried Onion rings are fantastic It is a very interesting place with so many games they have regular billiard games, shuffle board, darts, tv trivia along with tv 's to see all the sports games, On Monday they have competition Trivia, Karaoke on Wednesday's, and I have not been there yet for their live music on Friday and Saturday nites to be sure check out their schedule. Most important, the show people are friendly and most are the local from the area. read more

This place is not very Skibidi and let me tell yall why. Spanx the Hog BBQ in Southern Florida unfortunately fails to deliver a satisfactory gastronomic experience, despite its potential. The culinary offerings are a disillusioning amalgamation of over-sauced, under-seasoned proteins, where the promise of authentic, slow-cooked barbecue is overshadowed by a distinct lack of depth and nuance in flavor. The brisket, ostensibly the centerpiece, is marred by an insipid texture and an unfortunate muddling of the meat's natural smokiness. Side dishes, while abundant, lack the requisite balance of taste and finesse, often veering into the realm of cloying sweetness or soggy disappointment. Service, while well-intentioned, falters in both efficiency and attentiveness, leaving patrons to languish in unaddressed expectations. Overall, Spanx the Hog BBQ represents a regrettable divergence from the time-honored traditions of Southern barbecue, offering little more than a fleeting moment of culinary mediocrity. Just finished having a late lunch here. Absolutely fantastic, everything from the delicious pulled pork sandwich to the fun vintage southern decor. Absolutely fantastic food and a great price. Met the owner and he was extremely hospitable, couldn't be nicer, and the wait staff is awesome. I love these holes in the walls that have had employees for many years, it says a lot. Going to come here on a Monday night and check out the comedy, apparently they have comedy night every Monday night and live music every Wednesday night as well. read more

I tapped on the menu from website and called in the order. The prices were very wrong. The menu on the website price for 6 wings is $7.99 they charged me $12.99 and the price for a full rack of ribs platter is $21.99 plus $4.99 =$26.98 and I was charged $31. 99. If I had know they correct price I would not have ordered from them and feel the restaurant mislead me. read more

Was on Atlantic Boulevard and decided to stop in and try this place. I ordered the brisket plate with college greens and butt fries. What are butt fries? Fresh cut fries with dry rub on them. They were pretty good but could have been a little crispier. The brisket was very good not fatty at all and a decent portion. At $16 for a brisket plate for lunch it is pricey. The collard greens were served in a tiny plastic cup that is probably usually reserved for ketchup, mustard or mayo. Not sure why they were so stingy with the greens but they gave a decent amount of fries. They also served it with one small piece of Texas toast with nice grill marks on it and a good garlic flavor. Service was pretty good although my water was not refilled until the check came. With so many decent food options in the pompano and crawl Springs area not sure if I would ever come back here but it's worth a try. read more

I came in with a friend last week and was excited to try The Hog. Long story short, if you can't smell the BBQ, it's probably not a good sign. I ordered the platter that came with a little bit of everything. Two ribs, a scoop of the pulled pork, two wings, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. Everything just tasted meh. I will say I thought the pulled pork was decent but I wouldn't rave home about it. Nothing tasted fresh and if you've had good BBQ you'll be let down. I had to pour so much sauce just to get it to taste like the BBQ I normally make. The prices are great, however, the food lacks in flavor and for that, I can't give anything above two stars. read more

I had my graduation party catered by Spanx the hog and the food was fantastic. Everyone was raving about it. I had great communication from Tony. The food was ready on time. The only thing I wish was different is that the trays were labeled with what was inside to make it easier to pull out as we were opening them in batches! But it still worked out great!! 6 hungry bikers and one girl.... lol. If there is a restaurant that satisfy 6 hungry guys... without one complaint well. This is it! Donna was our server and she was amazing. She stayed on top of everything making sure these guys were well equipped. I ordered the half rack and collard greens because, that is usually my measurement for bbq. The collard greens were really amazing! The ribs were a bit dry but the flavor was good. I wouldn't be surprised if the ribs were boiled or steamed. (Dries out the meat) I couldn't finish them all but my dates have no issue finishing them off lol. We all had the pickle spears and our Texan put up a fuss when he found out they were spears and not chips (because god forbid, the batter falls off of spears). The spears were the best I've ever had and ..... the batter stayed on base! Whoop Whoop! Their cheesesteak sandwiches come in two sizes.... for a reason. The big one is omg huge. The guys had a blast with all that steak and cheese. They were thrilled with the smoked turkey and the brisket.... they all left with big belly's and a smile on their face! read more

Though known as "The Hog." With plenty of "The Hog" signs up, it's also known as "Spanx The Hog Barbeque," so maybe what at first appears as a duplicate entry is in fact proper, but since everything I had to say about The Hog applies to Spanx The Hog Barbeque, my review is pretty much the same for both. Located at the end of a Village Shoppes, a little strip mall is Spanx The Hog, a barbeque restaurant. Once you step inside you'll find a sort of western, might I say Texas type of décor about the place, plenty of big round wooden tables that look like those huge spools that the electric companies use to wrap and transport cable wires, western type of country background music, a selection of three sauces (all rather tasty), some hot sauces and a roll of paper towels. There are three large flat screens on one wall, what looks like the stuffed head of long horn bull on a support beam along with various other western decorative items. A couple of nice pluses are that the there is plenty of parking in the parking lot, it's located in a safe neighborhood and the place is spotlessly clean. I had the ribs which you can order with spicy or sweet sauce I ordered mine dry then applied my own sauce from the three on the table in order to have some variety. My ribs came as order, dry, and had a perfect, just the right taste of smoke about them. As sides, the coleslaw was also good as were my collard greens. read more

Horrible experience my boyfriend and I went to eat tonight food was salty and also my boyfriend paid and didn't leave a tip because we had to ask constantly for our drinks to be filled and ask for bbq sauce while the server gave it to everyone else and expected a tip get one thing straight TIP IS NOT MANDATORY WHEN THE SERVICE IS GOOD WE WILL TIP but if the service is bad we will not tip the lady came running outside to come yell at us I just think it was so unprofessional and unnecessary please do better with customer service and with the food read more

My girlfriend and I decided to check out this restaurant by ordering out for our Friday date night. It was horrible. While waiting for the food we noticed that the staff doesn't like or wear their mask properly. Both people in the kitchen had their mask around their neck but not covering the face or nose. The servers kept taking theirs off. As far as the food, we ordered the Hog Sampler which is 5 meats( pulled pork, pulled chicken, smoked turkey breast, beef brisket, & spicy Texas sausage), we got sweet baked beans and Mac and cheese on the side. We also decided to try a ribs ( smoked and the deep fried) . The food was trash and ended up being and outright waste of money, gas, and food. None of it should be called bbq. It lacked flavor and was mostly bland. The ribs and the brisket tasted boiled, there was no smoke or flame grilled flavor at all. The pulled chicken was bland and dry. The spicy sausage was pretty good, but not good enough to save the meal and not good enough that we'd return just for the sausage. The turkey was also pretty good, it did have a taste of smoke but it was under smoked and it should have been juicer. They gave us 3 different sauces to try, but none of the sauces compliment any of the meat very well. The baked beans tasted like doctored up pork and beans. The Mac and cheese was basic and watery. We also tried a side of cinnamon apples, we didn't like the flavor, and they weren't cooked all the way down as one would expect like apple pie filling. We were severely disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it or return, and I'm only giving it one star because zero is not an option. read more

My favorite neighborhood saloon! One room is the restaurant, a second is the bar and a third is the billiards room. Cheap drinks and food which is all excellent. Ribs and brisket are great and the best cheesesteaks and burgers around. Plenty of TVs and something different going on each night. Had been in the mood for wings and a beer. Decided to try this place after several years of being on our list, WOW, it did not disappoint. We sat in the saloon, Donna suggested I try both their smoked wings with a dry rub and Buffalo (they look naked) with the sauce I ordered on the side, spankin and blueberry bbq... delicious!! The wings were fully cooked, very good on their own but the mix if the sauces with the rub took it to another level. The bbq brisket was outstanding, the sides- mac and cheese and collards wow. We ordered extra Mac and cheese to go. Donna was a real pleasure to talk to, her interaction with everyone that came in was one reminiscent of the show Cheers. Such great energy. The Saloon has plenty to keep you entertained, from random bar games, to their multiple televisions playing anything from sports to music videos. Pool tables, darts you name it. Decent BBQ. Treated my friend to a quick lunch here for his birthday. I rolled with the Mac Attack (bed of Mac-n-Cheese topped with pulled pork or chicken and crunchy onions, served with Texas toast). My friend had a combo platter with pulled pork & chicken. Food was good, and service fast. Their sauces are set-up similar to Smokey Bones, one tangy, spicy, regular, etc in bottles on the tables to use to your liking. Decor was cool. They have a big bar area off to the side that I'd come back to and check out for a few drinks. Not QUITE as good as a another local spot I've been too...But overall, not bad at all. read more

Tender but not fall off the bone (which is over cooked in my book). They do come sauces so be aware. But I must say I Loved their bbq sauce. It was so good that I would have happily bought a jar of it on site but they don't sell it that way sadly. A vinegar/mustard based sauce I would say, similar to what places in South Carolina would make. The Mac and cheese was decent, could use a little more creaminess and cheese. I really liked the baked beans which were heavy in cinnamon and reminded me of the kind of baked beans that many bbq places in the Tampa-area used to serve when I was living there years ago (people called them "cinnabeans"). The burger is huge. They use sliced bread as opposed to traditional bun. I thought the service was pleasant. Maybe slightly disorganized. Anyway, we arrived a bit early but they took us right in. There were a variety of different games you could play where you could get points even if you didn't get the best shot. So the kids were able to complete pretty well with us adults and even win a few rounds! They had a food and drinks available but we had eaten prior to arriving and didn't get anything. The food we ordered tasted good and came out quickly, and we had a great time playing golf at the bays. Unfortunately, the customer service significantly impacted our overall experience. From the moment we sat down, our server, Arianna, did not make us feel welcomed. She immediately commented that it had been a busy day and that she had many bays to tend to. While we completely understand that it can be busy, that should not come at the expense of providing basic customer service. Arianna did not offer any assistance with setting up the bay technology, make any food recommendations, answer our questions, or make any effort to ensure we were having an enjoyable experience. Throughout our time there, she appeared aggravated, annoyed, and irritated. She also did not check on us during our visit. The only time she returned to our table was when it was time to close out the bill, and at that point, she seemed to be rushing us. There was also a discrepancy on our bill, which we brought to Arianna's attention. Rather than addressing the concern, she rolled her eyes and walked away. Her supervisor, Deb, then came over, and we explained both the billing issue and our concerns regarding the lack of customer service. Unfortunately, Deb was dismissive and essentially responded that they were busy. We explained that we understood they were busy, but being busy does not excuse a lack of communication, attentiveness, or courtesy toward customers. We were not expecting anything unreasonable--just basic customer service and a welcoming experience. When we again pointed out the discrepancy on the bill, Deb told us there was nothing she could do. However, that turned out not to be accurate. Chris came over, listened to our concern, and was able to make the necessary adjustment so the bill correctly reflected what we had ordered. Chris was extremely helpful and made an effort to resolve the issue. Overall, we did not have the experience we expected at Topgolf. The food was good and we enjoyed playing in the bays, but the lack of customer service from Arianna and the dismissive response from Deb took away from what should have been an enjoyable group outing. Unfortunately, Deb did not make any effort to turn the experience around. We do want to acknowledge Chris, who was professional, helpful, and took the time to actually listen to our concern and resolve the billing issue. His assistance was greatly appreciated.

I don't believe the ratings here and LONG ones too. I LOVE BARBQ. I will never eat at the Hog again. Clean, Nice decor, but the food is NOT BARBQ. I am older fella and know average, good and great barbq. HOG barbq is bland, sauces are strange and I swear sides and all tastes like someone failed in high scholl Home Ec. I was on my way in to the restaurant. I really like coming here. The restaurant is one of my favorites. Until I saw this guy on a bike pull up. He had dirty clothes on and smelled. I figured maybe he was ordering something. To my surprise he worked there. I found out from the waitress he was the cook. I told her I am leaving. She asked me why. I said I had to go. We ordered for lunch for our office, usually people get frustrated taking our orders as we have multiple orders with different payments. Toni was awesome very patient. The food was AMAZING. Horrible! I order the BBQ sampler plater and they brought out carved turkey and roast beef soaked in BBQ sauce. The shredded chick and pork looked like pâté. Could my tell the difference between them. Paid $18 just for that plater that wasn't even worth $5. Don't get suckers into eating here. You'll just be disappointed and short $25. read more

It was so good that I would have happily bought a jar of it on site but they don't sell it that way sadly. A vinegar/mustard based sauce I would say, similar to what places in South Carolina would make. The Mac and cheese was decent, could use a little more creaminess and cheese. I really liked the baked beans which were heavy in cinnamon and reminded me of the kind of baked beans that many bbq places in the Tampa-area used to serve when I was living there years ago (people called them "cinnabeans"). The burger is huge. They use sliced bread as opposed to traditional bun. I thought the service was pleasant. Maybe slightly disorganized. Would definitely come back and buy their sauce in a to go carton.
