My mom and I went here for lunch and we sat in a booth in the bar area. It's so nice and cozy up there with the big beautiful TVs and a bar that is a piece of art on its own. Our server was Vinny and he was a delight! Very friendly and professional and honest about what to order. I've had lump crabcakes many times before, and they all seem to be the same, full of breading. He assured Me that the Lump meat crabcake at J Marks is superb. Well, he was right! It was the best crabcake I've ever had in my life and I am 67 years old. I have also been to Maryland many times. I will always order this every time I go from now on. The service was very slow! Our server wouldn't take our entree orders and dropped off appetizers and left super quick and was nowhere. This restaurant is near my home. I've been there many times. I'll go back again. It's a good restaurant, it's not great. The beef is not quite tender, juicy or flavorful enough for me to consider it prime, it's not bad. It's not unusual to have food cooked a little over done, this may not be the fault of the chef, it might have just been sitting on warmer too long waiting for other food for your table, or the wait staff. Service is fine, but not exceptional, if your water glass is empty, it will be refilled, just wait a bit. The food was good but not amazing and the drink options were okay. I think what made me go 4 was because they were not busy and the wait staff, she really tried to make it great (the best) and they had small July 4th specials like a free Bam Bam shrimp with 2 drinks and steaks had 1 free topping, which she got mushrooms and I got onions. So I will say it was a good experience, not average. The mojitos were tasty and well done. They had bread that was okay, but not great, just kind of a soft wheat roll with butter. The Bam Bam was great and tasted amazing. The steaks, we had the 10 oz Sirloins and they presented well and were cooked correctly and still hot. came with two onion rings and one side. I had Garlic Mashed Potatoes and my wife had the Plantains. No issues and everything was good. The mushrooms for the steak are a mixture, so may not appeal to those who are partial to one type. Came here for happy hour and enjoyed the chicken slider on a bed of fries and the beef slider on a bed of fries. They both were like a mini happy meal and it was just what I needed for a midday bite. I also had a blackberry mojito that was 10/10. This hidden gem of a restaurant will stay on my list and I surely will be back soon. Our first time in Pompano Beach and we just stumbled across this restaurant. First look you would think it is a chain BUT it is NOT. It is a family owned establishment and one you should definitely try. The interior decor and ambiance bring you in and right from the start you get a good feeling it's going to be good. We went on a Monday night. Party of 2. No reservation. Hostess was pleasant told us it would be 10-15 minute wait. It was just under 10. We got a nice booth in the bar area. Our server was Connor. He came up to our table promptly Started with a glass of wine each which came quickly. We shared the soup (Tomato Basil) and salad (house) appetizer. I've found when it's shown as a combo the portions are smaller, but not in this case. It was a full bowl of delicious soup and the house salad was just as large and fresh and delicious. My husband opted for the Mahi Mahi with green beans and I had the Chicken Fierro. Both were delicious. We came here to celebrate NYE with our friends/neighbors in DBI (Deerfield Beach Island). Our group of 8 enjoyed our individual entrees, the cocktails and the Bam Bam Shrimp appetizer (reminds me of Kung Pao Shrimp). Was very pleasantly surprised on our visit here! My first time going to the restaurant. We sat at the bar as my friend mentioned, the bartenders are always amazing and they absolutely were! The cranberry ginger martinis were like christmas in a cup and the tuna appetizer was delicious. Solo dinner on Monday 12/2/24. Arrived late without a lot of research or recommendations but the hotel manager suggested J Mark's. Atmosphere, dinner and service were all really good. Based on the bartenders recommendation I went with Fierro Chicken entree. Absolutely full of flavor, super rich and delicious. Chicken was really moist, adding the prosciutto and smoked mozzarella cheese, topped with Dijon white wine cream sauce puts this dish over the top! Amazingly delicious! read more

Upon his return, I ordered the Orange Chicken with Basmati Rice. The dish arrived very hot, the way I like it, and was very good with a nice orange glaze taste. Anyone can find anything to eat here and the menu is so expansive that we've come here on back-to-back nights and had totally different things. The rolls before dinner are fresh hot and delicious. I highly recommend the chicken Parm, the burgers, and even the zucchini noodle pastas - they're all delicious. Wife also had a fish special that was terrific (I didn't like the ribeye steak I got). We have been here four times and have never had poor service. Everyone is super nice including the hard-working bartenders and managers. If there's a drawback, the bathrooms aren't always clean and could use some attention much more often. But overall, a terrific place. And a busy place - expect to wait. But it's worth it. read more

I was meeting my girlfriend here for a late lunch. It was my first time here since the pandemic, and I was excited! We both knew what we were ordering before we got to the restaurant, so we didn't pay attention to the menu. As planned, I had the Hawaiian Rib-Eye Steak ($45). The steak is marinated for 48 hours in a soy pineapple marinade. It was just as good as I remembered it to be, and I loved it! Not sure of the ounces, but I had enough leftover for my dinner. For my one included side, I had the roasted carrots, and they were very good. I also had a side order of thin and crispy fries, which were absolutely delicious. The steaks used to include two side dishes, so we ordered two. Our server didn't mention the menu change where entrées include one side now. It's not his fault we didn't look at the menu, but mentioning the menu change would have been nice. No big deal. My perfectly seasoned crispy fries were definitely worth the extra seven dollars. They were yummy! I couldn't resist taking a piece of their famous carrot cake home. I am not a big fan of carrot cake, but J Mark's version is not your typical carrot cake. Oh no, this multi layered cake is over the top. It's extremely moist, and the cream cheese frosting is unique, just like the cake itself. The slice is huge, large enough for me to pick at it for three days. This is one dessert that I will always order. It's simply luscious, so don't pass it up. It does contain nuts, so if you are allergic, sadly, this isn't the dessert for you. I am not upset about the menu changes since the pandemic. Rather, I am thrilled this restaurant survived, including their second location in Fort Lauderdale. James and Mark are the two brothers who own J Mark's. Supporting family owned businesses is important to me, and menu changes, including price increases, are to be expected these days. I normally don't eat steak for lunch, but my girlfriend and I were on the phone talking about how delicious their Hawaiian Rib-Eye is, and we decided to go have a late lunch the following day, which is what we did.
