How much does cleaning solar panels improve their output?…read more I had my solar panels cleaned recently by @sudandsqueegie. I had them cleaned only a few months earlier by another company, but I recleaned them because two panels were producing lower output and looked obviously dirty. The other panels did not look like they needed cleaning. I was surprised to see that the cleaning improved the output of all the panels from an average of about 340 Wh per panel to about 540 Wh, an increase of about 58%! The first picture is a drone shot of the panels, showing the two panels that were obviously dirty. The first panel picture shows the output of all panels before cleaning, and the second panel picture shows the output after cleaning. The panel output measurements were taken within 1 hour of each other at around 1 pm. It was a partially overcast day, so the output is usually much greater. However, it shows the amount of improvement possible with simple cleaning of the panels, despite them not appearing obviously dirty to the naked eye. It turns out the two panels that looked obviously dirty had cracks in the glass surface, and most of the discoloration was dirt that had seeped underneath the glass coating and could not be removed by cleaning. Surprisingly, not only did the surface cleaning of the two "dirty panels" improve, but it also improved the other panels that did not look like they needed cleaning! The original company that did the cleaning used a brush on a long pole to drip deionized water onto the panels. @sudandsqueegee used a long pole with two rotating brushes, which seemed to be more effective. They were very efficient and professional in their work. I recommend them highly.

I interviewed 8 roofing contractors before deciding on The Roof Masters. Rigo Oceguera was the…read moreproject manager who came out to view my roof and provide the bid for repairs. He showed up exactly on time, explained their whole process to make sure I understood the scope of what needed to be done, and made sure to answer all of my questions, including some I thought of after he left. Their quote was on the lower end of the spectrum, but with an excellent warranty and references. We did end up with a $6k change-order for additional [hidden] damage that was not easily detectible during the initial inspection, but it was not surprising, as the roof had not been replace in well over 20 years and there were noticeable soft spots when walking on the roof due to rotten plywood under the shingles. Even with the change-order, the total cost was extremely reasonable, and came in under my projected budget. The work crew arrived promptly on day one and introduced themselves and apologized that it was going to be noisy/messy for the next few days. Every day, they cleaned up the trash very thoroughly and magnet rolled to make sure nothing was left behind. This was a big concern for me as I have two dogs that I don't want stepping on or eating debris. I was originally quoted 5-7 days for the entire project, and they finished in 4. The roof looks amazing. I would definitely recommend them, and if we decide to add solar in the future, we will go straight to them because the company has been phenomenal to work with.

The installers were absolutely amazing. They arrived on time every single day and worked hard the entire day. They were all extremely polite and I was so impressed how well they cleaned up the nails and dust around the house every evening . We're so happy with the new roof. It's such a good feeling that we finally went for it and got it done. It looks amazing and now I don't have to worry for years to come about any leaking! I will definitely be recommending you to friends and I've got a couple neighbors that are looking to do their roof. Have a great day and thank you all again.

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

After receiving many quotes, the…read morechoice was obvious, and we went with Sunline Energy because they do both re-roofs, solar and more. They are also one of the only installers in San Diego who use Enphase systems (Inverters/Batteries) as well as other top brands. Their roof and solar warranty can't be beaten. Great pricing, great value and great service. These guys do it all! We live in a 5-unit condo with no active HOA, so this brought up some unique challenges, but with the help of Chris Brown in Sales and Carance Wu in Accounting department we were able to be accommodated by allowing us to have separate payments for the 5 units which made things extremely easier for us as separate homeowners with no active HOA. Chris Brown, our main sales/service contact, was always there to answer all our questions about the re-roof and the new solar. He did an excellent job making sure we were well taken care of. He was there every step of the way for both the roofing projects and the solar and helped ensure their success. Erin Steinhardt, Roofing & PV Project Manager, was helpful during our re-roof project. She went above and beyond taking care of our needs. Daniel Chavez did a great job keeping things together as well. The roofing team was very professional, very friendly and they did a great job on the roof. I was very impressed with their skill in removing the damaged Fascia on our eves by removing the gutters, reinstalling the new wood Fascia and reusing the same gutters. Alex Guerra was our main contact solar and was there to answer any questions we had. Onsite, Team leader Henry and his team did an excellent job removing the previous solar and installing the new Enphase / Hyundai solar system. His team was extremely knowledgeable, very professional and very friendly. They answered all my questions and allowed me to be part of the design process from the galvanized steel piping location, quick shutoff switch and the battery location I was able to achieve the best final results possible for my unique situation. If you ever need a re-roof and new solar, Sunline Energy is by far the best.
