Whew, the dentist. I stumbled upon a fellow Yelper's tip, so I called to see if they took my insurance. The receptionist was so helpful. I had basic questions answered over the phone and was able to make an appointment on the next day! I even called back to switch times and this was done accordingly. The initial appointment was friendly. They are high tech from the new patient questionnaire to the final signatures. Dr. Lin was nice in looking over my xray and givingn me options on the next step to take. He gave me a minute to think over my options and the receptionist gave me a breakdown of pricing. I didnt feel pressured and this was a big big deal since these visits are usually co$$$$$tly. Once I decided my demise, Dr. Lin was very thorough in telling me what he is doing and making sure I breathe correctly during procedure. He warned me of possible pressure and pain and stayed consistent in telling me to breathe. The new office member was able to watch my extraction. The procedure was painless and done in minutes. Dr. Lin tried to show me my tooth and accidentally dropped it. Though that was a bit unsanitary the clinic overall was sanitarily comfortable to be at despite the circumstances! read more

This dentist office misdiagnosed me to up charge me on all of my dental care. They need to be reported and investigated. If you were diagnosed with Periodontal disease here I would highly recommend getting a second opinion. They also up charge on billing and will bill you things that are not covered by your insurance. They will also tell you your services are not covered by your insurance and mean while it is. And they will credit your account and not tell you and keep collecting money from you. It is so unfortunate that they are in business as a dental office. They are giving Dentist a horrible name and reputation. I am now scared to go to a dentist. They picked on the elderly when possible and think you're not paying attention while the very nice dental assistant in skin type pants walk around in front of you. They take a CT scan without you knowing what they're doing and try to charge you for it, they get very upset when you want to check with your insurance because they know it won't be covered and they can bill you. It is a nightmare from the time you walk in till you leave they tried to distract you and get very upset when you don't want a $1500 cleaning when you came in to get a free check up and cleaning that you're insurance pays for. They are being investigated now by Delta Dental for insurance Fraud and Fraud against the patient. The part of the nice behavior is just an act to relax you and get you in a vulnerable state so you might agree to something that is totally unnecessary. I have the best insurance there is and came in for a cleaning and check up and they left I left with they plan for around $3000 that I sent to my insurance and found out it's all almost totally unnecessary. The nice assistant may not be aware of what is going on, but that is hard to believe I'm 72 years old and they thought I was just an elder that they could scam and pick on, but they have been reported to several agencies already, and I will not rest until these scammers are put out of business. They just have no business ruining a honorable profession. Play do not go here!!! and if you have and it's too late blaze, check your plan for honesty and anything that they have cheated you on because they are cheaters if they were an honest business, they would try to sue me for saying all these things but they won't because they know it's true and don't wanna go near a courtroom. Hopefully they will end up in one soon anyway they truly do not deserve to be in business as far as their dental skill, it is difficult to know because they are scabbing you instead of using any skill. I know there's more than one Dentist this female one who I know is a criminal and it's possible there could be some qualified Dentist working there, but they must know what's going on. I don't see how they could not and again if I'm not telling the truth why don't you sue me please take care of people and heed the advice from myself and the dozens of other that I've read here. read more

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with Dr. Hanieh Hooshyar. I went in for a routine cleaning, expecting the usual Prophy, and instead was hit with an aggressive treatment plan that seemed completely unnecessary. It honestly felt like either a lack of proper education or a focus on profit over patient care. For a first-time visit, I was shocked at how quickly they recommended multiple expensive procedures. I just had a Prophy 5 months ago at my previous dentist, and I also received a Prophy during this visit. To double-check, I contacted my previous dentist in LA and sent him a picture of the xray that was taken that had some calculus build-up. He quickly replied that it is not subgingival calculus and does not require scaling and root planing. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and the facility was clean. read more

I had an excellent experience with Dental Assistant Amalya and Dental Hygienist Lindsey! They were both incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and gentle throughout my visit. I felt completely at ease thanks to their friendly and caring approach. However, my husband's experience with the dentist herself (Dr. Haineh Hooshyar) was poor. She was over aggressive with her treatment plan, and tried to upcharge him on several unnecessary procedures. I am a dental hygienist and have several friends who are dentists, and when I sent them the X-rays taken from the office, they unanimously agreed she was either inexperienced as a dentist, or trying to take advantage of us. When I declined the extra treatments in office, she declined to even do the basic cleaning that was part of the price we already paid. In short, the staff and hygienist were wonderful, the dentist herself not so much. read more

I went to this dentist while looking for a new dentist. The dentist kept me waiting quite a while even though I told everyone I encountered that I don't do dentists well. when he came in he just told me I needed two crowns and walked out. I never was told which teeth needed the crowns. I was handed a bill though. That was bad enough but I recently called because I had a sore tooth. I was told I needed a consult with the dentist again and then another appointment for the work. I let them know they had my X-rays and I just wanted the tooth fixed. I had a bad feeling that they wanted to do more work than I was comfortable with. I asked for 1 appointment and was told they needed to talk to the dentist. I would have given them no stars (if possible), as this business' only concern is how much they can gouge you for, instead of helping you, without bankrupting you. This corporation is the most selfish entity I have ever encountered. When I got my teeth pulled and had my upper denture made, which cost $4,000, they neglected to tell me that I would have to pay another $2,000 for a permanent denture. They had to make adjustments to my temporary denture at least four times, and the lab still didn't get the fit right. I still can't eat with it without pain, and I can't talk correctly, either. I paid cash, and I wish I could get the money back. I would sue, but I don't have the resources. Don't be fooled by their "smiles" advertising. read more

Went in for a consultation for a root canal. Staff was pleasent enough but the dentist was a nightmare. Just keep telling me he wasn't sure if he could do the root canal but not to worry her could always pull my tooth! What!!! Called my regular dentist back and was reffered to a competent endodontist. I brought my son into the dentist to have his wisdom teeth pulled. 1700 for two. Then they told us his teeth were cracked and they wanted money to do root canals. He has not went back. I went in after getting dental insurance and had a filling done. Then I needed another filling. So I go back and they said I needed two. I went back a third time for my check up and they wanted to retreat the tooth they already fixed although this time they wanted to do a root canal. I said no so they said they could do a bridge cheap to replace a missing tooth in the back of my mouth. They told me they did a pre authorization and all I had to pay was 900.00. I said no three times because I couldn't afford it. They told me they would in house finance me. I was hesitant but after 2 hrs of X-rays and being hassled I said ok. They started work immediately. 3 hours after the 2 I already spent they had a new girl assisting and she kept dropping all the instruments on the floor. They put a hoaxy looking tooth in my mouth for a week and when I went back they put the bridge in. They kept asking me to donate money and they could give me money off. They kept saying I needed to leave a good review for them too. I just received confirmation from my dental insurance and they did not get a pre authorization and KNEW MY INSURANCE WASNT GOING to pay for my bridge. They didn't even cover my X-rays. I now owe over 9 thousand dollars and they KNEW I didn't have the money to begin with!! I am so upset and angry. I trusted them. They keep telling me it will get covered. By who??? We have been harassing this office since JANUARY for the surgeon to fill out my boyfriend's paperwork for short term disability after his surgery. His job requires this paperwork to be filled out in its entirety, before he can return to work. There is a statute for this paperwork to be completed, and after this statute the FMLA is denied and he will be terminated for time missed. The surgeon is William Curtis, and he only works out of this office 1 day a week or less, and HE is the ONLY person who can fill out this paperwork. After finally getting this surgeon to fill out my boyfriend's FMLA paperwork, it was done INCORRECTLY and only signed 1 of the 3 papers needed for him to return to work. We have called, we have shown up to the office and cried in the lobby, we have done everything we can for these people to get this paperwork sorted out and are consistently given roundabout responses with no action. My boyfriend will be terminated from his position in 4 days, because of the negligence of the surgeon and the people working this office who are not making this an absolute priority. Real people trying to just pay their bills and survive will be severely impacted by the sheer unprofessionalism given from this practice. I've heard corporate dentistry is bad, but I am now learning first hand how they don't care about their patients in the chair, they only care about money in their pockets and insurance companies that pay the best. They got him in, extracted 7 of his teeth under general anesthesia, took our money, billed the insurance from our yearly max, and now my boyfriend will lose his job AND his insurance because they cannot simply fill out paperwork. If you want an office and surgeons who don't care about the livelihoods of their patients day to day, and who use AI to filter their calls, then by all means, this is the office for you. I have never been more disgusted with a health care practice in my whole life. Corporate dentistry does not care about your dental needs, your financial situation, or your fears of losing your career. I've FINALLY found a dentist that took care of all my needs and got me in ASAP when I had an unbearable pain that needed IMMEDIATE action. I've had lots of dental trauma from previous offices, and I cannot vouch for this place enough when it comes to being quick, gentle and making you feel comfortable. Dr. Hanieh is so amazing and really listens to her patients. She has personally made the dental experience for me so much better and given me the confidence to get back in regularly and be healthy. I've also had some really nice ladies in the front desk to help me when it came to payment options, because let's be honest, dental work is not cheap, but great work and being healthy is worth it. This is my 2nd review pls look at 1st review on google review. I wanted to share also about the billing! I don't know how they are training there office managers but it is shady! Not only did they max out my dental insurance but also asked me for my health insurance card because they could have added something else that was totally unnecessary. When picking out a payment plan... we agreed on payments and how much Down, I signed papers and they began work. On my way out, my mouth was numb and I couldn't talk... the front desk manager tried to change the whole thing l, saying they didn't offer that plan the girl was new... so tried to give me a shorter month plan with a higher monthly and more down payment! Not being able to communicate due to being numb I was struggling. But the look on her face was sooooo rude, and her demeanor. when paying my down payment with care credit, she actually looked up my available credit on care credit and said "you have this much available for credit, you can put pay it all" :o I felt my privacy was violated. I told her I care about my credit and I'm not maxing out my card. I want what we agreed too! She did end up honoring what the paper said. But also beware, I would not recommend getting crowns from this office! work done right due to carelessness. I do not recommend getting crowns from this office... THE EXPERIENCE IS TERRIBLE!!!! Everyone there is like family and they will definitely do their very best to find the right solution for your dental needs and situation. Let me start by saying this is my second review of this dentist office. I am going to try and only state the facts and keep feelings out of it. 1. I have left three messages in MyChart with no response still to this day. Two were written on November 26 and one on December 3. When you send a message it states: please allow 24-48 hours for a response. 2. When I went in for my first appointment I was given an estimate that stated my share would be right around 1500.00 dollars which I was fine with. After them billing the insurance I now have a bill for 9600.00$ more dollars. How is that even possible? 3. I work in pediatric Oncology and use customer service skills everyday. This office literally has none. I called to see if they actually read the MyChart messages and the lady I spoke with (did not give me her name) said that they do. I asked if there was a reason why none of my messages had been responded to in which she asked if she could have my date of birth. Which I gave. She then paused for about 1 1/2 minutes and said, "yes I do see them, I can't speak to why they haven't answered. I can send a message to the office to see if someone could call or respond to the messages." I asked if I could here back from someone on Monday which she replied, " I can't guarantee when they can get back to you." 4. The fact that when I wrote my last review they answered to it within a half an hour with a stock reply that said please contact the office to talk about the issues. What happened to the office contacting you? What has happened to customer service in this world. WHY do people have to treat others with disrespect? Been through 2 dentists, several hygienists and office managers - but I gotta say - this is a great place that provides top notch quality comprehensive dental care and I'm pleased and will likely never go elsewhere. Dr. Flannery is highly skilled and competent as is their hygienist Suzy. Crystal - their new office manager is the best they've had. Dental health and teeth and gums are so important and most take for granted. Deep pocket cleaning has a double meaning. Insurance pays some and then your pocket is cleaned. Good investment though. They do not have professionalism, I came 4 months ago for an emergency and when they treated me for the first provisional implant that they put me, I got an infection, then I must be calling them to give me a new appointment, then when they give me the appointment they call me the day before to tell me that now I have to wait another month because the doctor is not going to be, I do not recommend it, it was my worst decision to come here. So much trouble in recent visits. I think this was a great clinic. 1. The fluoride-leave-on goo was horrible and my belly hurt. This seems to be a major profit center and no better than just rinsing with fluoride over-the-counter. 2. They canceled on us the same day. 3. They required me to come for my 17-year-old's visit, in addition to the online advance signature. I started to drive immediately when called, but wasn't fast enough. 4. For the reschedule, I was told I would need to stay for the whole visit to "sign for" any additional treatment for the 17-year-old (in addition to another round of online signature and several other screens for advance check-in). That isn't what I wanted to hear shortly before the appointment - last time I was told I would be able to leave. 5. Then, they said it would be $219 rather than the $140-ish I was quoted. - on my pushback, rather than addressing my problem, the person at the counter said "my supervisor told me to charge" which doesn't address my problem - then the person further advised me that if we leave due to the price change/increase, that we would be responsible for the $100 cancelation fee 6. Also, last time I was there for a cleaning, my teeth weren't as clean as I wanted them to be, despite my precleaning and healthy gums. read more

Made an appointment for my son a while back and he had COVID so he did not show for his appointment. I went in and spoke with the staff stating that he had a no show previously but wanted to make sure if there was any payment due to reschedule. They said we were good to reschedule. I had to request time off of work to take my son to his appointment and when we got there this morning after filling out the paperwork and sitting there waisting time, the front office staff calls us up and stated that the Dr didn't feel comfortable seeing him because he had a missed appointment. It frustrates me the most because they could have told us this previously before I lost a couple of hours of work and the Dentist could have came out and explained this himself. So, it happened to me, I was enjoying life then all of a sudden, shooting pain whenever I would breathe wrong, brush my teeth, you name it. Googling showed me I'd need a dreaded root canal, and with 2 days before Thanksgiving, I didn't have many options. Luckily, I found an appointment with Dr. Lin that worked perfectly with my schedule. I got in and they told me flat out it's expensive, it sucks, and it's going to be painful. I appreciate the honesty. We do the X-Rays and sure enough, I needed to get a root canal. Dr. Lin tested which tooth it was, found it, showed me other possible problem areas for the future and offered me a few options to get it fixed, then they got to work and started absolutely rocking it. What little pain I felt was a slight stinging and that was well into the root canal. The 80's and 90's cartoons and sitcoms that said they were painful? The worst thing ever? Maybe in the 90's. I'm still pretty numbed up but this was actually a fantastic experience and I (believe it or not) look forward to my next dentist visit. read more

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU'RE PAYING OUT OF POCKET TO THIS OFFICE!!!! I originally went here because my boyfriend recommended it. I had a problematic implant and it literally was falling out of my face. I went in on the day that their specialist was in and she pretty much just popped it out like it was a baby tooth. Now, I have severe anxiety about the dentist and not to mention was pretty upset about wasting money on an implant - long story short I was charged for a stay plate for a BACK TOOTH (or so I thought) then I had to make payments - I was charged over $500 and my husband lost his job so I wasn't making the payments ON the date so I would get call after call and emails and emails threatening me to take me to collections. I had spoke with Dr Lin the same week this stay plate was made and he was blown away I even had one. I have yet to even use it because it makes me gag. It's a tooth you cannot even see. After about a year - Annie the office manager called me and i explained to her that I don't understand WHY I even had a stay plate - she informs me I'm not paying for the stay plate at all - I'm paying for the extraction of the tooth that almost fell out of my face on its own. I'm like WHAT? Now mind you I'm dual covered and I look at the Explanation of benefits and see that the extraction was a covered benefit and basically they didn't even submit the extraction to EITHER insurance company. She told me flat out "it's not a covered benefit" I contacted both my insurance companies of which they verified it IS A COVERED benefit and the claims submitted to them we're not even accurate - when I asked her she said "we submitted the claims correctly" Ok - what's REALLY going on? I have been emailing her for months to get this resolved and she's now ghosted me - no response. I asked for a refund of the monies I paid until the claim is submitted correctly and entirely - so I know exactly what I should pay and that was a hard no. Next step - filing insurance fraud claim with both my insurance companies. Complaint with the better business bureau and possibly small claims court. This office is the reason WHY insurance premiums go up and also why good hard working people lose out on money they're worked very hard to earn! read more

This is an ok experience. I have been coming here for a few years. I originally was attracted to the longer hours but this does not seem to be the case in reality much. I have also had the office cancel some appointments due to staff issues or changes. I have seen several professionals over the last few years (the dr. or the staff) and while I can not fault anyones service or professionalism the staff has not been consistent and the office does experience turn over. I cancelled 24 hours in advance and was told the policy was 48 hours and that I would be charged next time. I did not realize this as they have this electronic disclosure system that you can not really see what you are signing, so it is good they did not charge me as I would of been upset. Especially, when they turned around and cancelled later. The ability to make a some crowns in house same day though was super cool! I have stayed as it is nothing to make me say "OMG I will never be back" but sometime I may go elsewhere as my husband and son are happier down the street with a local dentist. read more

I do not recommend this place to anyone. I am taking myself and my family away from this place. Why? First, they ask you for signatures while telling you what you are signing for without ever showing you what you are signing (electronic signature). At the same time, they are telling you how much is the cost without showing you a breakdown. You never see what are they billing or the services that they are charging the insurance and yourself. You also need to ask what are they charging you for or they would not tell you. Even after asking, they will not show you a breakdown. This is just a very "shady" practice. In addition, the quality of service is terrible. The people at the front desk are rude and just have a goal on mind. Getting as much payment from you as possible. They also schedule the patients for unnecessary procedures and additional cleanings when it is not necessary. For example, they once told me that they needed to remove a filling I have and redo the filling because they didn't like what it looks like. They messed up that area of my mouth for several months. Also, you are always dealing with technicians because the dentists are nowhere and never have time (too busy) to see the patients in any of their cleanings. However, I found out from the insurance that they billed the insurance as if they are seeing the patients. In summary, this is a very shady practice with terrible service. I am writing this review for my dad who is much older and does not know how to work yelp, but I am very, very sad the way he came home today. This was the second time he has been to this place. My dad is 70 and has aging teeth. He specifically requested for a dental hygienist to clean his teeth. Initially his appointment was at 10am today, and they called and rescheduled it for 11am due to unknown reasons. This has nothing to do against the assistant that tried to clean his teeth. This problem here is, dental assistants (versus dental hygienists) are not permitted to perform dental cleanings because it requires specialized oral health training (longer schooling) that dental assistants do not have! Hence why he requested a hygienist long before his appointment. Why is this the case? Why was he told at the office "if it's just a cleaning a dental assistant can do it." That doesn't seem right. Misinformation. Also they wanted to reschedule him in September after he waited for his appointment today since apparently they only have one hygienist. For reference, this issue is like asking a certified nurses assistant to give medications for the registered nurse. Not right. Also, they made him pay before his appointment which makes no sense because I have never paid for a service until it's completed. WOW! Dr. Lin made a huge difference in how I now view visiting the dentist. When I told him it had been 30 years because of past treatment /patient relationship issues he seemed shocked. He restored my faith in dentistry and went above and beyond. When I had to talk with billing about my how my insurance would cover or not. She came to me. I was not told to go to another office or we will see. She took care of the appointments and explained the cost breakdown to me. She didn't just throw me a piece of paper and say well call when you are ready. She made me feel like I was top priority in my dental care. read more

***Missing De Lin ***** I took off work to get a root canal and the "office manager" has canceled my appointment and wasn't notified until I had been waiting in the office. His excuse was that " I had a previous no show (months ago, maybe even over a year I've had appointments since then), -which I paid my no show fee, my daughter was in the hospital- and so for some reason he felt compelled to out of the blue cancel my appointment? Nah sounds like he effed up and now won't bother to fix it. I was so confused I asked the staff laughing "what the heck?" And they told me only he does that and gave me a referral to an office with "Much better Drs." His words, not mine. Not sure if the office manager is Dr. Flannery but that is who I was scheduled to see. I take back my other review. They switched the front office staff and Shannon and Vince are the best people for that office. On top of that, Dr. Lin is hands down the best dentist I heave ever dealt with. He truly cares if I'm in pain or not. I swear I will follow him wherever he goes. I am truly in love. read more

Beware.. you have to specify a cleaning with the exam. I waited for 1 1/2 hrs, xrayed, prodded and left without a cleaning. I have never been to a dentist to did not clean your teeth. So disappointed. read more

This practice is unprofessional and are amateurs at best in experience and skill. If you have problematic teeth, prone to cavities etc, like I am, (even if you floss and brush religiously!) this is not the practice for you. If your teeth are strong and are in great condition this office is great for your routine cleanings and check ups. Dr. Chase, who no longer works at this practice, placed a crown for me last August 2018 and filled a cavity on the tooth next to the crown. He made the filling too high and therefore I suffered for weeks to months with a gradually worsening pain in that tooth that became so unbearable I was in and out of the emergency room in October of 2018. After multiple visits back to the dentist to diagnose the issue (that the filling was too high), the damage had already been done and I developed a severe irreversible case of pulpitis in the tooth that resulted in a root canal months later. In fact, when the doctor who took over for Dr. Chase finally did diagnose me that the filling was too high, he still could not figure out why I had a huge pus filled bubble inside my mouth near the afflicted tooth plus still a lot of intermittent pain... and told me that I just needed to give it time to heal-- I felt that this was very wrong and sought a second opinion from Sala Family Dentistry and they confirmed that the root had basically died and I had developed abscess around that tooth which was that bubble inside my mouth. I required a root canal immediately and had to get all the abscess and bacteria out. Now, finally that tooth feels better with a new, amazing crown placed by Sala Family Dentistry (although I have issues with them as well- administration relates issues) but now the crown that Dr. Chase placed last August, BROKE during dinner two nights ago! I tell you this has been a nightmare to deal with over the past year and strongly feel that the doctors and staff were just not experienced and skilled enough to deal with complex cases and to my detriment because of all the pain and suffering I experienced as a result of their lack in experience. read more

All brand new staff. If you're looking for Dr Lin he's at Gentle Dental now in North West Reno. New Drs here are not personable and they will upsell you care that is not primary care. Place has changed with new ownership. Everyone looks really stressed out. read more

This was an unnecessary and unpleasant exam experience. After some intense x-rays, the doctor comes in and immediately starts condescending me as if this is my very first dental experience. I have a medical background and I am familiar with this type of behavior from doctors, creating a power dynamic that's very difficult to get out of. He then proceeded to conduct the most painful gum health measurement exam I had ever experienced. I was asked "have you heard of gum disease" (which is RIDICULOUS), told I have it, told I need extensive and expensive deep cleaning (with numbing) done in addition to a filling (which I already knew I needed). Then... despite my questions as to why I couldn't just get a regular cleaning first (it had been over a year because of covid), he leaves and a young pretty girl comes in with this sheet and starts marking it up and raving about how great my insurance is and I notice items on the invoice that are additional and "special". I made the appointments on my way out, canceled them, and went to Champagne Dentistry instead. They cleaned my teeth and told me to floss better, no 1200$ cleaning needed. TL;DR Ask Questions, never allow a doctor to upsell you on non-cosmetic procedures, get a second opinion for non-emergent conditions. read more
