You'll order at the bar. For my dinner I ordered their patty melt served on marbled rye, which was everything a patty melt ought to be (so good!). For my side, I opted for the onion rings which were battered (I prefer this over breaded) and perfectly crispy. Zero complaints on the pub grubtastic food. I also ordered an whiskey old fashioned, which was prepared in the Wisconsin style and was great. The service was also lovely. When I was ordering, the gentleman in front of me explained that he had been coming here for 30 years and it's the same guy behind the bar--amazing. Also, I totally accidentally left my purse on the patio (I only had one drink--just a complete oopsie moment). I didn't realize until the next morning. It's a long and convoluted story, but I was with my minor child who was on the verge of a panic attack and needed to sit down somewhere, we were caught in a thunderstorm, and it felt like everything in town was closed. Probably because it was. Bayfield isn't exactly a late night town... nor does Uber or Lyft function out this way, despite the respective apps claiming otherwise. Morty's was close by. It was open. And I remembered that in Wisconsin not only can minor's sit at the bar, if they are with their legal parent they can even have a drink. Man, Wisconsin is the best! But the kid just wanted a soda, and I could have used a drink. So an old fashioned for me and a Coke for the kid. I shared our story with the bartender, and she offered some sage guidance. In a few minutes my wife arrived with the car to bring us back to our cabin. But let's hear it for the good old fashioned bar that provides both literal and figurative shelter from the storm. They usually have several specials on the chalk board. I usually get the 1/2 rack of ribs. They are FANTASTIC. Super tender and the sauce is great. I've also had their chicken wings - great! On our most recent trip (the last week and a half) - I had the ribeye special with the loaded baked potato and coleslaw. It was cooked perfectly and super tasty. I left a few toppings off my loaded potato - l had butter, bacon and grilled onions. It was fluffy and delish. They have a nice menu. You can ride your ATV or snow mobile right up to the building or your John Deere tractor (like a customer had when we were visiting ). Tons of Forest service roads/trails all around the area. There was a half slice of limp whole wheat bread messily slabbed with margarine, not butter and in Wisconsin that is not going to fly. The potatoes were instant. The final kicker, is they don't take cards! Only checks and cash. This is 2019. I've had good service and food in the past but this place has taken a nose dive.
