Six stars! The ambience, amazing. Molly was there playing in a trio. Truly amazing voice. The girls singing was awesome as well. The food was next level. High end. Delicious. They only have a license to sell beer and wine. Pretty good selections though. I do make some "mocktails". The service was outstanding. We were there mid week, it was very busy, we sat at the bar and ate. We had the pleasure to speak to both of the owners.

Menu and a lovely place setting. Ambience was beautiful.

It was an amazing dinner with perfectly cooked fish. The wine list had goodies to pair with the fabulous food. It wasn't busy so the service was on point. My server was attentive.

We celebrated our 31st anniversary here at St.James Social in Bayfield WI on Thursday night and came back again for their Sunday brunch today..... absolutely phenomenal! The food is outstanding. The service is sincere and engaging. The ambience, decor, and atmosphere are unique, beautiful, and welcoming.... The restaurant is just a part of this exquisite spot- The St James also is a boutique hotel with gorgeous rooms, a sauna, and a rooftop patio. DO NOT miss this gem!!!

Space is nice but that's about it. Six of us waited 1.75 hours for food to come and it arrived Luke warm. It was not busy.

I was expecting Lorelei to walk into reception area at any moment with a cup of coffee. Foods are excellent We had 5 course tasting menu that way we can taste most of the foods. Fortunately This is a very fine dining with moderate portion not giant. The highlights are definitely: Caesar salad - made old fashioned way you can taste the anchovy Mushroom soup - almost like French onion soup but mushroom and without overwhelming cheese on top. It's so nice and light. Perfect start to a meal seafood ravioli served with salmon - ravioli is definitely the star . The salmon is just some back up dancer. That Ravioli is magic. Umami bomb definitely taste the ocean (in a good way) and the butter and all the good things in life. For desert - the berry cobbler is special of the day and it is just phenomenal. All great texture are there. Chewy crust. Explosive berry flavors à la mode. After dinner. You can hang out at the porch there's swing. Nice chairs overlook the lake. Next time we should probl stay here

I came here for a fish fry just after Memorial Day and the outdoor seating weather was perfect for my pup. The patio overlooks Lake Superior, with a few buildings across the street blocking a bit of the view. It's a nice downtown spot so there are plenty of people out and about walking by the patio. I typically prefer a traditional Old Fashioned, but when in super northern Wisconsin, do as they do. I got a Wisconsin Old Fashioned and it was great. I even ordered a second one! The veggie dumpling soup was beyond my expectations -- I would have just eaten a bunch of bowls of that all night if I hadn't been set on fish fry. I got the Lake Superior Whitefish fry (Lake Superior was right across the street, how could I not?), which was just ok. The sides were great - french fries and green beans are a Wisconsin match made in heaven. The fish was alright, a bit fishier than I'm used to but that just might be a Lake Superior whitefish thing? Still, I found about 6 bones in the fish fry and I've never had that issue at a restaurant fish fry before. I usually give a few bites to my dog but was nervous on this one. So, overall a great experience and a fun place to stop by. I'd recommend checking them out.

I wish I remembered the name of our server because she was so attentive while practically running the front of house by herself, I wish I could give her a specific shout out. The restaurant itself is a classic small town tavern with the dark wood bar, comfy booths, and a gorgeous painted tin ceiling. The food was also pretty good - the cheese curds are a MUST get. The rest of the food was slightly too salty and the fish was just a tad dry but the tartar sauce and coleslaw were both to die for and the fries were fantastic. Overall we enjoyed our time here and would definitely go back.

Duck liver, goose liver, calves liver, cod liver, monkfish liver, sign me up. But somehow whitefish livers have evaded me. These were delicious! I also had what might have been the most midwestern meal ever. Cheese curds with ranch dressing, a plate of whitefish livers, and a sweet brandy old fashioned to wash it all down. On the specialty drinks menu I couldn't resist the Berens Brandy Old Fashioned. I mean, I have been a fan of Charlie Berens for a few years but I didn't realize he had his own brandy for the definitive cocktail of Wisconsin. It was delicious, but it also turned out to be $12. For my second round I just got a regular brandy old fashioned which was also quite good, but weighed in at five bucks. Let the buyer beware. Which is ultimately why Pier Plaza fell short of the fifth star. The prices feel a bit high for what it is. Granted, it's right by the water, in a remote part of the state, and thrives on tourists. And that's fine. I have no regrets and would absolutely recommend folks who might be passing through to stop in for a very Wisconsin meal. Portions are large, so plan accordingly.
