I came here for a birthday celebration with my husband and a few friends. We made reservations and when we arrived our table was ready for us in the middle of the restaurant. Room was dimly lit but not too dark where I couldn't see my friend's faces. Just enough for the vibes. We got a wine recommendation by our waitress and it was spot on. We started off with the house salad and the burrata. We were a party of five so we ordered two salad since they were of small portion. The salad was fresh with the fried pepperonis being a nice crunch factor. Burrata was fresh and bread was very well toasted. We got the chicken pizza to share amongst us and ordered a variety of pasta but what stood out was the sweet corn pasta. Our table agreed that was the best dish of the night! The baked rigatoni and the lemon fettuccine Alfredo was the good second. The 100 layer lasagna unfortunately was overhyped. It was salty and very hearty. I would recommend this to be a shared dish. As it was a birthday the restaurant gave us a 10$ off certificate for our next visit. We brought our own pies for dessert and the staff was accepting of them. I'm traveling for work and one of the highlights of my day is choosing where to eat after a long day. I chose Sparrow, and I already told my coworkers, that I could have dinner here every day for the rest of my trip and be OK. Parking wad a little tricky when I first arrived, but I figured it out. I also had a brief moment of panic when the hostess asked me if I had reservations, but I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't miss a beat and seated me immediately. This restaurant is a little higher end, but I was impressed at the approachability and general "fancy but friendly" vibe of the place. My plan going in was to order the hundred-layer lasagna and dessert, but when the server recommended the flash fried artichokes and feta, I couldn't resist. I am pleased to report that everything was fantastic. The artichokes and feta were delicately charred and fried, and even better than I'd hoped! The hundred layer lasagna was also amazing, and it was a struggle to save half for tomorrow's lunch. It was a perfect balance of noodles, crispy edges, cheese, and sauce. I ended the meal with the Italian meringue with lemon curd and roasted berries (I think) and I had to fight the urge to lick my plate! My mother and I stopped by for a light supper on our was to Armstrong. Even the little plates and appetizers were beautifully plated and tasted so delicious that most other chefs would be put to shame. Sparrow is a very solid Italian choice in Edmond. With so much recent competition, it's nice to know a legacy joint is doing the right things to stay more than relevant. We enjoyed our drinks which were strong, and the short rib special, while small, was flavor packed. The lasagna wasn't actually my favorite in the world, but it was still a solid choice! Lily, our waitress, was top notch as well. And while you can't anticipate how long a young person will stick around on their journey in life, the place did seem well managed and even the staff member who brought out our food was nice, so I am sure the other staff members are great as well. read more

After our granddaughter's graduation from OSU, the family headed to Sparrows for a celebratory dinner. One of the reasons Sparrows was selected is for their gluten-free menu offerings to accommodate two family members with celiac. We started with appetizers, and they were all very good. I especially liked the garlic knotts: garlic-shallot butter, mozzarella, and bread, delectable! I love eggplant parmsean and was quite pleased to find it on the menu. It was very good, but the eggplant was a little strong. I'd give it a four out of five. My wife ordered the lemon fettucini alfredo and liked it. She said it was very good, but it was served barley warm. The restaurant has a modern, luxurious decor. It has a nice feel. The service was exceptional. Had an amazing experience here when I dined with a friend on a Tuesday evening at 4:30 pm. for an early dinner. It was after Christmas, but before NYE, and decorations were still up, which we loved. Service was incredible and we were sat right away. Food: We shared the garlic knots with marinara sauce, shared a Caesar salad, my friend ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and I ordered the 1000 layer lasagna. Everything was delicious! I only had a few bites o Drinks: The Aviary is such a delicious strawberry flavored cocktail. We both ordered this drink because we wanted to sip a drink in the cute little bird glasses that the drinks were poured in! We both appreciated that the taste matched the aesthetics. At the price point I believe there was a lot to be desired from the food itself, albeit the service was excellent. I ordered the mushroom agnolotti and there appeared to be a mistake in the preparation, the pics of the dish on here posted by others had a thin sauce on it while my dish did not. Also, it was a very light dish, I'm sure by design, but it was so light that it would be more fitting as a primi/appetizer. Flavor wise it seemed uninspired. Rating: 5/10 My fiancé had the Spicy Shrimp Rigatoni, we love spice, so the level of spice in the sauce was a nice kick, if you're spice sensitive though, I'd avoid it. My second time here and first review. The restaurant is well decorated and the service is good. However the food needs to be improved for the price. The edge of our lasagna is burnt and citrus tasting, which is different. The stuffed zucchini roll is rich and spicy(Italian sausages), very small serving. We were shocked by the tiramisu at the end, it is insta-tiramisu with whipped cream, no coffee taste. It is indeed house-made, they just layered a couple ladyfingers and put whipped cream on it for $11. Very lazy-man style. The atmosphere, kind service and price of the meals is going to raise your expectations. But don't let it. The food is mediocre. We were very disappointed. I didn't even take a picture of our main dishes because it took a while for them to come out and I was pretty hungry. We visited on a Monday night. Maybe two other tables full so the food service could have been quicker. I got the salmon and it was over cooked and smothered in marinara with a few asparagus for $26. I'm ok paying for good salmon but this wasn't it. The birds nest appetizer was interesting and tasty but after tip our meal was almost $100. Not worth it for flavorless food. I was craving Italian food and a quick look at Yelp brought up Sparrow. The photos of their Bolognese showed exactly what I was craving and the dish they brought me was identical to the pictures! That's rare. I should also say that it was delicious and completely satisfied my craving. My wife's dish was delicious, as well. Our waitress was amazing and was able to answer all questions about the menu, as well as make recommendations based on the items we asked about. She did a great job at explaining top rated menu items and why she loved specific things. We took her entrée recommendation. On the menu: We were told that portion sizes were large and that we could easily split our meal. My husband and I decided to split the 100 layer lasagna and an Italian chopped salad. A pleasant evening in an upscale setting with tasteful decor. Our server was friendly, but professional and very knowledgeable of the menu. The offerings appear to be modern takes on classic dishes. My wife started with the Italian house salad: butter lettuce and radish with a mustard vinaigrette dressing. The lettuce was so tender and the dressing was just the right amount not to overwhelm the flavors. My Italian chopped salad: baby gem lettuce, heirloom Cherry and yellow pear tomatoes, salami, crispy pepperoni, mozzarella curds, chickpeas with a house Italian vinaigrette. One of the yummiest salads I've had. Again the dressing was just the right amount and was simple: vinegar,oil and a hint of lemon. The combination of flavors was so well balanced. Entrees: the lasagna was very flavorful with bolognese and a dollop of whipped ricotta. My Chicken Saltimbocca was served over finger potatoes with asparagus. The chicken was very tender and the cream sauce was buttery with a hint of sage. Both entrees were delicious. Dessert: the chocolate tort was not as thick as most and the raspberry sauce complimented well. My Lemon Meringue was very different with the meringue hardened perfectly to dip in the lemony goodness. All in all a memorable meal, but at $125 before tip, we will save for special times since Italian is not a go to for us. read more

WOW!! First time trying this place and it didn't not disappoint. I came here for a dinner with colleagues and we had the private area located in the restaurant. This is a lovely date spot, but also a cute place to go with just your friends for good food and wine. The Caesar salad was amazing the Parmesan cruise set it off. The garlic knots and potato nest were so delicious, we started eating so quickly I didn't get good photos of them. The wine selection was vast. Rocco and Sarah were excellent servers and answered every question the group had. Now the show stopper of the night was the traditional lasagna. It was amazing, very flavorful and the portion was huge. Another colleague got the salmon and she said it was delicious as well. I am not a huge fan of tiramisu but another colleague did enjoy it. For dessert we had tiramisu and, at our server's suggestion, meringue with lemon curd. Again, both were great. We had lots of questions for our server and she fielded them professionally and made several solid suggestions. Dinner for three - bread, Caesar salad, three mains, two desserts, one glass of wine and a bottle of sparkling water - came to about $150. Worth every penny. One thing I didn't like - we were sat in a booth in the bar area and the lights were far too bright. They also had a tv on (fortunately the volume was off). Met up several friends for a birthday event here. We were seated immediately upon entry, (we had reservations). It was super busy on a Saturday night so, that's always a great sign that the restaurant must be good. We got seated at 7PM, and our server took our drink orders. It took about 18mins to get my first beverage. We all then ordered apps and dinner. Sacha and I decided to split a caprese salad and the lemon fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp. The fettuccini was delicious, but the noodles were all clumped together and not properly prepared due to the fact it was a clumpy mess. We didn't even get our salad, and had to ask for it again. Our server seemed confused or annoyed that we still wanted it. I mean we did order it in advance, and asked for the salad to come out before our entree did. I also decided to order another drink. My second drink took over 30mins to arrive, and the funny thing is they gave me two more around the same time, and yes I was charged for all three and drank all three. However, I only ordered two drinks. Guess they didn't want me asking for a drink several times, which was smart on their behalf I guess. We then received our checks without being asked if we wanted dessert. I said I wanted dessert, haha! So, we ordered the chocolate torte which was pretty good! We asked if the birthday girl got a complimentary dessert and they do not offer this service here at Sparrow. Overall, the food was okay nothing amazing. The service was very slow so, expect to spend a few hours. They also charge 20% gratuity for larger parties so, don't forget to check your receipt. The atmosphere is nice, and they have a decent wine list. I would come back for drinks, but they need to improve on their preparation of food and better service skills. However, it's decent here.
