Spartan's has been my go to place for Greek Food. It's been here for a very long time and it's a favorite among any of my friends that likes Greek Food. I came here on a whim after shopping for groceries for dinner and while it was busy and full of many families dining in, I was still able to secure a spot for myself in a booth. I wanted to go for the Gyro because I just craved something simple and filling for the night. That did not disappoint as the plate that had the Gyro was massive, along with a side of fries. The Gyro contained Beef and Lamb Meat with Tzatziki, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and feta cheese all wrapped in Pita Bread. I would say the portion is big enough to feed 1-2 people as the portion is massive. I enjoyed eating the Gyro and I'd have to say that I'd come back for more. I also got the Baklava Ice Cream, which is a must get too. With Honey, Cinnamon and Vanilla, it is just really good and something to end the dinner with. There are non-greek options as well but honestly, the food is good all around. I would say if it's been in the area for so many decades, then I can see why people come back for more. read more

This has been our family go-to restaurant since my kids were babies. We love their food, and we are always treated like family. The Greek dishes are great. Soup, salads, sandwiches...Pizza is great. Generous portions and always served fresh and hot. They offer probably the best gyro in the area. It's honestly the best I've had! I love the fries, which are double cooked. The Greek side salad has the best dressing. My daughter has always loved the spaghetti with meatballs. They offer a kids sized portion, but you get the Greek salad with the full size meal. A local favorite in the Burke area, great Greek food and good brunch place. A lot of Greek and Spartan decorations. Food wise, you cant go wrong with the chicken here because it's moist and tender. The eggs and home fries and corned beef hash was solid. French onion soup was good too, maybe a bit salty. I like the coffee here as well, nice strong flavor to it. The mini pancakes for the kids were huge portions and can definitely feed 2 kids. Service is great, the waitress' were all nice and kind to us. Spartan's has always been a favorite as the food is very good. It's tough to find decent Greek restaurants but this one fits the bill. Very family friendly and you do feel at home. We know some of the servers personally due to folks knowing each other in the Greek community so it's nice seeing and being greeted by familiar faces whenever we go. When we're there we usually get the chicken kabobs as they're cooked and seasoned well and juicy. This time I got the pumpkin pancakes since it's seasonal but that was just ok, I didn't taste too much pumpkin. Also I should've asked for a second syrup as it was not enough. The others got the burger, steak & cheese, and chicken. I also like the pizza and chicken Parm, and the bread pudding is really delicious. They also sell Greek cookies, seasonal pies, and imported goods like olive oil (a little pricey). I'll be curious to try the new spanakopita spring rolls next time. Will go back. I had the Pastitsio and was very pleased - very close to what my Greek Mother made. The ratio of ingredients were just right and happy that they use the tube spaghetti/pasta. The only suggestion would be to have a bit more cinnamin stick flavor. The small side salad was enough however it was served on such a small plate the ingredients keep falling off. Spartan's was quite busy and chaotic when we arrived, one person taking and distributing take out orders and being hostess. We were sat down and picked a few items from the menu: gyro, flatbread pizza, fish and chips, chicken parm sandwich and tuna melt. The wait for the food was over 30 minutes and the food was incredibly mediocre. Fish and chips and chicken parm seemed like it was made from a frozen package. Chicken parmigiana is decent, but would like to see some new menu items. That's my only very minor suggestion, as I can say they have good meals to choose from. Spartans is a local gem if there ever was one. A family owned business that exceeds expectations. I went for lunch with my mother in law and had a great time. We tried to go Monday, but they are closed on Monday (fyi). The restaurant is a seat your self type place. The servers were attentive and quick to get us drinks and our food. They greeted us and made the rounds, checking in on everybody, really making you feel like a regular. For our entrees, my MIL got a Greek bowl and I got the baked spaghetti (with bread and a side Caesar salad). Really sizable portions for the price, but we both managed to eat every single bit. I think of this place whenever I'm in the mood for Greek food. I went with a group of friends and we started with the Trio Dip Appetizer, Greek Wings and Feta Fries. I personally love fries so they were easily my favorite. We also shared a pitcher of Passion Fruit Sangria. Although it tasted like fruit juice to me, but it was still delicious. I got the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner and it comes with Greek Salad, Tzaziki and Fries. The portion size was significantly large so it is worth the price and perfect leftovers for the next day! I almost always get their Rice Pudding for dessert! Although it was somewhat busy, the host was able to get us seated with no wait time. Not a great experience tonight, the waitress was totally having a vibe of not wanting to have us there for dinner tonight, I'm guessing because we came in an hour before closing . ‍ Anyhow both my dishes, the mozzarella sticks which I order at restaurants because I always feel they always turn out better at restaurants because of the professional fryer than when I cook them at home, not this time though. Another local joint my family and I have been attending for as long as I can remember. In fact, one of my earliest memories is eating there and looking over and seeing the smoke in the smoking section. I'm really dating myself here. Spartans is a local Greek diner with an expansive menu featuring Italian and Mediterranean dishes, as well as American diner classics. The restaurant is always packed on the weekends and serves a loyal clientele of dedicated regulars, some of whom must come nearly every day. Unlike most non-NYC diners, Spartans is genuinely good. The service is spectacular, and most of the employees have been there for as long as I can remember (I'm 30 - so 26 years or more), so you know they're treating their staff right. My favs - -Their bread weirdly hits. If you get a salad or soup with your meal, make sure to ask for bread. -Their pasta with marinara (or with meatball, which is served with marinara) is my favorite pasta in the world. Is it the best pasta in the world? I'm not sure. But there's something about their sauce that feels like home to me. I always ask for extra. Sometimes when I order I pull a Ron Swanson and say "What you're hearing is that I want a lot of marinara. What I want is all of the marinara you have." - When I'm not feeling pasta (a rare occasion) I get their chicken kabob platter, either with Greek potatoes or rice. Rice is obviously the healthier option, but those potatoes slap. Get the potatoes. -The chicken gyro is also excellent, but a bit messy to get to go, so I usually opt against it. Their fries are good, as is the sauce that's in the wrap (tzatziki?) Others love the pizza, but I haven't tried it in years, and, if I did, I would probably try their sister restaurant (which I have oddly never been to), which is primarily a pizza joint. My parents love the soup, but I usually gift my soup to them as the portions are huge and there is plenty to eat without appetizers or sides. All I can say is that one day I hope to take my own kids to Spartans. 5/5 stars. read more

My cousin and I came here for lunch, and it had been years since we had been here. I always enjoyed dining here in the past so we decided to come back again. It seemed like they modernized the interior of the dining room somewhat, but it looked like the tables and chairs were the same. We were both seated immediately at a nice booth off to the side, and not long after our Server came to take our drink orders. We both started out with two waters and sat around trying to figure out what food we wanted to order. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs, and he ordered the classic cheeseburger platter. I went during the pandemic, and the cleanliness, and social distancing was always a priority. I tried this because it appeared on a list as one of the best gyro places in NOVA. It might be considered the top 10, but not because it's good but rather a lack of competition for gyros in the NOVA area. Theres only a couple places I've tried in NOVA which offered better gyros than here. Most of the competition for gyros here is places like halal guys or other places offering gyros in a fast casual setting. The problem with gyros is most places use prepackaged pita bread and gyro meat. Some places dont even cook the gyro meat on the rotating spit, instead just frying it in a pan. I did not like the french fries nor the baklava. The fries tasted the same as any frozen grocery store french fries and were too soggy. The baklava, tasted normal. Not bad, but it tasted the same as baklava you can sometimes find at costco or other grocery stores. The gyro meat was disappointing and I believe the same processed gyro meat used at many other places. The only thing I really liked was the beef patty on the burger. read more
