    Gyro Dinner

This was our first time visiting Spartans Family Restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised. The place is big, and while the décor is a bit dated, it has that classic family restaurant charm. Our waitress, Jenny, was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We ordered the gyro dinner and the Spartan pizza. Both dishes were delicious, flavorful, and generously portioned. Great food and great service. We'll definitely be back!

This has been our family go-to restaurant since my kids were babies. We love their food, and we are always treated like family. The Greek dishes are great. Soup, salads, sandwiches...Pizza is great. Generous portions and always served fresh and hot. They offer probably the best gyro in the area. It's honestly the best I've had! I love the fries, which are double cooked. The Greek side salad has the best dressing. My daughter has always loved the spaghetti with meatballs. They offer a kids sized portion, but you get the Greek salad with the full size meal. This place has been an institution here in Burke for decades, and for a good reason.

A local favorite in the Burke area, great Greek food and good brunch place. A lot of Greek and Spartan decorations. Food wise, you cant go wrong with the chicken here because it's moist and tender. The eggs and home fries and corned beef hash was solid. French onion soup was good too, maybe a bit salty. I like the coffee here as well, nice strong flavor to it. The mini pancakes for the kids were huge portions and can definitely feed 2 kids. Service is great, the waitress' were all nice and kind to us. Interesting tidbit: The infinity glass hallway to bathrooms was neat.

Spartan's has always been a favorite as the food is very good. It's tough to find decent Greek restaurants but this one fits the bill. Very family friendly and you do feel at home. We know some of the servers personally due to folks knowing each other in the Greek community so it's nice seeing and being greeted by familiar faces whenever we go. When we're there we usually get the chicken kabobs as they're cooked and seasoned well and juicy. This time I got the pumpkin pancakes since it's seasonal but that was just ok, I didn't taste too much pumpkin. Also I should've asked for a second syrup as it was not enough. The others got the burger, steak & cheese, and chicken. I also like the pizza and chicken Parm, and the bread pudding is really delicious. They also sell Greek cookies, seasonal pies, and imported goods like olive oil (a little pricey). I'll be curious to try the new spanakopita spring rolls next time. Also for the holidays they gave a sealed envelope with a freebie inside as a gift for the next visit which is so cute and festive to spread a bit of cheer like that (and have repeat customers!)

My family has been coming here for 26 years. And somehow every time it is amazing. The staff treats us like family. Everyone is so sweet! The food is crazy good. It is so pretty in the restaurant. The decorations are amazing. The low lighting and the marble countertops all tie together to make a masterpiece.

My friend told us about this place so we happened to be nearby. The ambiance was nice with good amount of crowd. The service was great and the food came out at a decent time. We will definitely come back again.

This is a staple of mine! Love coming here with friends. Their Greek salad is a must every time you visit. If you get an appetizer I highly recommend the trio dip, served with fresh warm pita. They literally have the best pita bread here, it's so good.

Always have enjoyed this place. It is very family friendly. Definitely bring everyone. You'll feel right at home. Very pleasant ambiance, and service is always top notch. It's a clean safe place, and is a wonderful place for a get together. My personal recommendation is the pizza or chicken kebabs. These are delicious. Chicken parmigiana is decent, but would like to see some new menu items. That's my only very minor suggestion, as I can say they have good meals to choose from. By all means go here, and enjoy a place that's good for any occasion. I always come back, and that speaks for itself.

The pizza is fresh and delicious, the crust is delicious, fluffy and crisp. The service was amazing, and the inside had a fun theme going.

There was a second birthday party in full swing, yet the family who owns the restaurant greeted us with such warmth and kindness and invited us to sit wherever we felt comfortable. You can immediately tell this is a place built on heart, humility, and truly good people. The service stood out in the best way. I asked whether the Caesar dressing contained anchovies due to a pregnancy restriction, and although our server wasn't completely sure, he handled it with care and thoughtfulness. He brought the dressing on the side and offered to swap it entirely out of an abundance of caution, which meant a lot and showed how much they value their guests' comfort. And the food. Absolutely delicious. Every dish tasted fresh and authentic, and the sauces alone are worth coming back for. You can tell everything is made with intention and pride. What really makes this place special, though, is the feeling you leave with. By the end of dinner, it doesn't feel like you just ate at a restaurant. It feels like you were welcomed into a family. If you're looking for authentic Greek food, incredible hospitality, and a dining experience that feels personal and memorable, I cannot recommend Eleni's Greek Tavern enough.

That said, on to my experience. First, the outside drew me right in - evil eye - yes! The inside was very clean (including restroom) and had a modern Mediterranean feel to it. We were greeted immediately and asked our preference for inside or out. I chose inside bc the outside was quite full. Our waiter came right over with water. It took a minute for him to come back, but I wasn't in a hurry and they were very busy. We chose to order multiple apps (instead of dinner entrees) to get a taste of many things. I am not going to remember or spell the names of the dishes correctly so forgive me; I'm going to just describe what we ordered. The meatballs - delicious, juicy, herbaceous The dip with fish row - this was salty, as it should be, but not too salty. The pita was perfection. I loved this. The halloumi cheese - wow! The best I've had. The beet salad - lots of diced up beets and the vinaigrette was very tasty. This salad was big! With a protein on it, it would definitely be a meal. The calamari - this was disappointing. It was cooked correctly, but really had no flavor, even after we squirted it with lemon and added salt. I did not love the lemon dip/sauce accompaniment. If you are going to try the calamari, I would suggest getting it on the side. Dessert - Capital Y, yum! The orange sponge cake, well, it was a little bit of heaven. It is a very wet cake and very orange forward, just fyi. The donuts with Nutella - if you like loukoumades and Nutella, you'll love it! I did. Finally, I had the Mythos lager. Not light like a Miller Lite, but definitely not heavy and hoppy like an IPA. I enjoyed it. My husband had the Greek coffee. He said it was fine, but not very full bodied. I've never had a Greek coffee, so I can't speak to that. I liked that they asked him if he wanted it: not sweet, mid, or sweet. Overall, if you like Greek food and you aren't in a rush - go here!

A complete breakdown at 6:00 pm on a Sunday. Red Flags;…read more +10 minutes go by after being seated w/o acknowledgement or water service. Despite a light crowd and high staff, nobody else notices / cares. Then... only 2 out of 3 entrees arrive. This also goes unnoticed and unchecked. When we finally flag down another waiter, it only gets relayed to our server, who shows up another 4-5 minutes later, confused about the problem. Rather than acknowledging that the order was lost and suggesting an alternative, the server rushes the third dish (without any communication), and it arrives after the rest of my party has finished eating. The obviously newer/younger female server is then confused that I no longer want the dish and disappears again. At this point, we've asked for the check 3x times from 3 different people. Our request to hostess staff to speak to the manager was also ignored. When we finally get the bill, the never-delivered entree is taken off, but it's now 745-8 pm. When I finally relay this to the manager walking out the door, he then whines that he has been lied to! Come on, man, it's your team lying to you / covering up their mistakes, so you've got a big culture problem! Used to like this spot, but will never ever return. Ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner by the incompetence and indifference. Somehow this still came out to a $183.03 dinner for 2 that I got to watch (2 entrees, 2 apps, 1 glass of wine, 1 bottle of sparkling water). In a rush, I left a 18% tip that should have been 5-10% at most. I've never been one to complain, but in this instance, a comp for only the meal wasn't delivered, which doesn't exactly inspire goodwill.
