I'd love to continue to support this small, local business. A few pros: - Peter was very knowledgeable, the massage was exactly what I asked for. I do like deeper pressure and it was perfect. I've had massages at other places, and sometimes pressure can be tricky to get just right. - The timing was tailored. Sometimes the masseuse has their own rhythm and perhaps go on autopilot despite what you've asked for. Not the case here. - They have hot stones and essential oils available. At many places there's a substantial upcharge for these, but at Bamboo Spa it was much more affordable. Cons: - The only con was the lack of sound proofing. It was a bit noisy due to the (beautiful) hardwood floors. I've been so someplace where soundproofing is taken very seriously but the massage is poorly done. I'd take a little noise any day for a high quality massage.

I decided that getting a sports massage would be a beneficial tool to add to my recovery toolbox. I found Bearhawk much like you, by going on Yelp and trying to find a place that fit my needs. I'm so grateful that my first massage experience with with Sherman and Bearhawk. I wasn't looking for a traditional, relaxing massage, I wanted one that would aid recovery and loosen up some tight muscles (my neck and traps specifically have been giving me trouble) and provide some relief. Sherman is the exact person I was looking for. Before getting on the table, Sherman sat with me to go over what I was looking for in my session and took the time to assess impingements, alignment, posture, and any other factors that are related to tight or tense muscles. He opened the session by saying he takes a holistic approach which I very much appreciate. The massage was fantastic. He spent a lot of time discussing anatomy in a scientific way (he is extremely knowledgeable) and I was able to learn a ton in the hour+ we spent together about my own body and how to move better. It felt like I was seeing a PT and an LMT all rolled into one! I really enjoyed the conversation that Sherman and I were having, but he made it clear from the beginning that if he's being too talkative and I want to relax in quiet, to just let him know and he would respect my space. Speaking of space, the space itself is warm, inviting, and relaxing. I don't have much to compare it to outside of stories I read, but I felt the space was incredible clean and Sherman was overly respectful and professional during my entire time there. I never once felt unsafe. Sherman even sent me follow up links with stretches and movements that we had discussed during our session, which was incredibly thoughtful. I can't say enough good things about Sherman and my experience at Bearhawk (in case the previous six paragraphs left you wondering). If you're active (yoga, running, sports, weightlifting, crossfit, ect) at any level, want some pain relief, or just want to keep your body moving as well as possible as you age, giving Bearhawk a try is a no brainer.
