A1A said that I had asbestos in all of the drywall and tile in my home (in addition to more common asbestos locations like my house's vinyl flooring and HVAC tape). I got a second opinion from another company/lab, and they said there was no asbestos in the drywall or the tile, and their prices were a fraction of the price as a result. Testing also took 4x longer than A1A estimated, they didn't bring brooms or a vacuum to clean up their mess, and they left a ladder. The employee who came for the testing was very polite, but I can't look past the fact that they were trying to charge me to essentially gut my entire house claiming it was full of asbestos, when in fact it was not (per the second opinion from another company). Also I found a tile in the bathroom that they tested - the tile said it was dated from 1993. They said it was asbestos positive, but asbestos was no longer used in building materials in 1993. So I'm inclined to believe the second opinion I received over the opinion of A1A environmental.

Not only have I caught the workers stealing items from her, on more than one occasion, while they were supposed to be working to rebuild her home. I'm not certain whether the workers that have been doing the work are actually employed by Meridian or if they were contracted by Meridian to do the work, but these guys, and girls, need to be fired and locked up in our county jail for constantly stealing items that do not belong to them! I could say MANY MORE terrible things about these workers, but there just isn't enough characters allowed for me to do so. Just be warned, if you hire this company to do a job for you, it will end up taking a lot longer than they tell you it will when you first talk to them. Mom's home burned over 6 months ago and they have just started the rebuild a couple of weeks ago! Not only do they go weeks at a time not doing any work at all, the workers will be stealing whatever they can while they are supposedly working! I WELCOME any feedback from the company, but they have refused to even bothering to reply to email messages I have sent to them! When I didn't receive the emailed report I called Mr. Scott to remind him, and that's when he informed me that his computer had crashed but he'll be sure to send as soon as he work things out with the computer. One week later on today, I called Mr. Scott asking for the report, he became very combative with me. When I responded to his disrespect he hung up the phone. He was being unreasonable, unprofessional, and not holding himself accountable. At our assessment meeting she alerted me to the breadth of the problem that needed attention, made helpful suggestions for things they could do that would not add to the estimate she offered, and was so mindful of giving the best quality of work for a very reasonable price. We paid $10,000 for our crawlspace to be encapsulated in 2023. I would think the key aspect of…read morekeeping the crawlspace dry is the dehumidifier. The one this company installed in 2023 quit working in 2024 after the one year warranty expired and I had to pay $1,000 to have another one installed. March 2025 the dehumidifier quit again. I called and they sent a technician out here and he said the company no longer uses those dehumidifiers. He inferred that they are of substandard quality and if I purchased another it would be quite expensive. He checked the dehumidifier and said my electrical outlet had switched it off. So, I paid an electrician to replace the outlet with one that doesn't automatically switch off. The dehumidifier continued to quit working. So, I asked an HVAC company to come and check it out. He said the dehumidifier is fills with water and cuts off because it isn't draining properly. He emptied it out and said it hadn't been correctly installed. He said it needed a condensation pump and the tubing needed to be replaced. I tried to reach someone at Crawlspaces and More and for weeks never received a return call. I finally received an email from Jim and he said he would come out and make sure the dehumidifier was on and charge me $200. I told them to forget it. I called a reputable company and they installed a very nice dehumidifier and replaced the door to my crawlspace. Ours was wood and rotted because it was decades old. They said Crawlspaces and More should have replaced it to thoroughly encapsulate the crawlspace. The new company installed a custom fit door that is air tight and sealed. I would not recommend Crawlspaces and More.
