I hate writing negative reviews because of how it impacts the company, but I only do so when it truly seems appropriate...in this case it fits like a glove. I'll say this...the owner and manager are not very professional, they are both fake...plastic. This is the first thing I noticed upon arrival, Not a good first impression. I went here the other day for a massage and facial....best experience ever! They were so nice right from the beginning, gave me a survey to fill out about my skin so they could customize my experience. The robes were high quality, and my masseuse was wonderful, so sweet and genuine, very funny and great at her job. I purchased a Groupon to try this place out since I already have a local massage place I go to monthly...so before my Groupon expired, I scheduled a late afternoon massage with Ryan...60 minutes, firm pressure. When I entered the place, Janet at the front desk greeted me warmly and had me fill in a quick form, then led me to the locker room and showed me everything, including my robe and slippers. The decor of the place is very nice and elegant, and the lockers have a nice little box for your jewelry, which I thought was pretty cool and handy. Then you go into a nice waiting area until your masseuse comes to get you...Ryan came and led me into a very nice room, you get to select your music type as well as whether or not you want them to talk to you during the massage! Ryan also gave me time to disrobe and get under the blankets before entering the room to start my 60 min massage. Ryan was awesome and I would definitely recommend trying him! He also gave me my full 60 minutes, which is great, since one of my biggest pet peeves is places that start the clock ticking as soon as they lead you into the room so you aren't getting your full 60 minutes...at any rate, the massage was amazing and I wished that I had longer than 60 minutes ( next time..!). He hit all the tight spots and worked on all the various knots I had in my upper body...I feel so relaxed as I write this, it's soooooo nice! He also got some great pressure points on my hands and feet. Nice firm pressure, just simply a terrific massage! Ryan asked if I would like water at the end, so he had a cup waiting for me when I exited the room and then he directed me towards the locker room. I took advantage of the shower facilities, great stone/granite shower, nice smelling body wash...just a beautiful locker room in general and very spa-like! I signed up for their monthly premium membership, which means next month I get an 80-minute massage! I can also bring a friend or 2 for a terrific reduced rate to get a massage as well on my membership, how can you beat that??? Can't wait and highly recommend trying this place! read more

Quick update to this - the Spavia owner reached out to me about my less than great experience with the wrap and offered to have a different person redo the wrap on the house. Kerri, the owner, took a lot of time to get feedback on what could be improved, and the experience was so much better the 2nd time around. Sherri was really great, and the scrub actually felt like it was scrub, vs a light application. I declined the hair oil treatment this time to avoid the greasy, crunchy hair thing, but still got a fantastic scalp massage. All in all, I still don't know if I'm sold on the whole idea of a scrub/wrap vs a massage or facial in terms of the value for what you get, but I'm definitely going to keep my membership at Spavia and keep trying different things! This is honestly one of the worst spas I have ever been to. My masseuse needs to be fired. I never have had such a terrible massage in my entire life, and believe me, I have gone to LOADS of spas. By far the worst experience. My masseuse did not listen to any direction and felt as though she was lazy and over her job. I felt as though my massage was done by a 5 year old little girl. I have never left a spa upset or in a bad mood and trust me, I was livid. Spas are meant to leave you happy and relaxed this was the EXACT opposite. Visited Spavia for the first time last week for a massage and facial. My good friend is a member and highly recommended this place. I had an hour long massage with Leslie and it was one of the best I've ever had. Leslie's was so sweet and created a very calming environment. Spavia's facilities are perfectly appointed for a relaxing experience before your services and to shower, etc. afterwards. They even go as far as to let you choose the scent of your lotion beforehand and they notate it on your file. The facial was excellent too! I look forward to going back soon. Went here with my boyfriend over vacation, he got a deep tissue massage and I got a deep cleansing facial. The spa was exceptionally clean and zen. He said his deep tissue massage was exactly what he wanted, and he usually complains that masseuses don't have firm enough pressure, well not here! His masseuse was also very friendly and gave him recommendations for a date night in the area, which was nice! The deep cleansing facial was my first facial ever, however I'm moderately experienced when it comes to skincare. Morgan was my esthetician and she was great, since I was a newbee she explained everything to me thoroughly and even reminded me that I shouldn't use chemical exfoliators where I had laser hair removal previously. So she obviously made the point to look over my paperwork and adjust accordingly, bravo! I left with radiant skin and my pimples disappeared by the next day. Additionally, the customer service was very quick, friendly and efficient. The only reason I took off one star is because the spa gave my boyfriend a choice between 4 feminine-smelling lotions to use for his massage, and although they were delightful, my boyfriend would've preferred to use an unscented one. I would recommend that the spa has an unscented lotion available for those (especially men) who don't want to smell like tropical fruit and flowers. read more

4 great appointments. 2 mediocre. We've had multiple massages here -- all of which have been fantastic. If you're going here for a massage, you'll be in good hands. The atmosphere is nice. No steam room, but nice amenities. However...Don't get your eyelashes done here. I've been having my lashes done for years. The girls here are brand new and have no idea what they are doing. I spent $100 on a sale to have a set done and they were terrible. I called and asked to have anyone but the same girl re-do them and was told that their computer was down and someone would call me back. When I got the confirmation text, I was scheduled with the girl I requested "anyone but." I was charged for that appointment even though I did it "press C" to confirm. That charge is absolutely my fault as I should have called to cancel. I set up a third appointment and...got the same girl. Again. I was desperate as my lashes looked terrible and needed to be done. I thought maybe if I talked her through it, was super ultra clear about what I wanted, I'd get a better result. Nope. I asked for the lashes to be SLIGHTLY longer than before. Literally said the words, "natural looking, not Hollywood." They were at least 3x longer, which could have been fine if they would have been done well, but they were going every-which direction, many not adhered at the base, crazy looking. She just doesn't know how to do lashes. I walked out, embarrassed, and the cashiers all cooed and carried on about how amazing they were. As I was leaving the cashier told me it was her very first set of longer lashes! Nailed it. Awesome. I paid the $200+ and walked across the street to sephora to buy scissors to trim them to a reasonable human length so they'd draw less attention in their poorly done state before I had to go to work for 12 hours so I wouldn't be embarrassed. I trimmed, and trimmed, and spent an hour tweezing away the ones that weren't adhered properly. I called Spavia back and asked if they could please just remove them asap. No refund needed. Just get them off of me. They said they couldn't get me in until the next week. For reals? I made an appointment elsewhere. Total spent $700. Never again, Spavia. Your massages are pro-status. Your eyelash service is JV...at least for now. read more

My husband and I came in for hot stone massages on our anniversary. It was a great experience and I had a wonderful massage with Janine. Shortly after, we received an email offering a special on their monthly membership. I clicked through but the website listed the membership as $10 more per month than the email so I called to find out how to get the special rate. The receptionist, Angela, informed me they had a price increase but I had just received the email that day. She said the manager, Betsy, would call me to figure it out. She didn't. A week later I received the same email with the same special price which again was not reflected on the website. I called again. Still no response from management. I am so disappointed because I was really looking forward to becoming a member and getting monthly massages but at this point it seems they don't care about my business as no one will call me back. They also don't seem to understand truth in advertising and that you can't bait and switch prices. Not cool! read more

I would not recommend to family or friends. I got for a 100 minute signature massage. It was one of those massages where after about 10 minutes you're like, oh no, this is going to be terrible and I'm stuck here for another 90 minutes. I don't typically splurge on massages (particularly 100 minute ones) and I also don't typically leave reviews, but this one was so bad that I would really hate for someone else to waste their money here. By bad I mean they didn't listen to my preferences for pressure and it didn't seem like they had received any training, they just kind of swished their hands around. What a waste of money. read more

Mind you, my worst massage was done by an 80-year-old woman who had a Parkinson's-like condition who literally fell asleep during the massage. At Spavia, I paid for a 90-minute deep tissue and received something more like an uncomfortably vigorous light Swedish. I just went to this new spa and received a massage with Carmen, It was fantastic. I was impressed with the quality of massage and atmosphere, very professional and accommodating. I was pleased to discover Carmen, and several of their Massage Therapists are BCMT grads - which usually means that they are knowledgeable and well-trained. Carmen provided a wonderful massage that was very comforting, yet effectively got to my needed areas. It felt like I was actually getting my muscles worked, yet the massage was soothing and relaxing as well - which was what I asked for. I have received a lot of massages, and Carmen is awesome. I love massages and get them a fair amount. I have chronic pain and love a true deep tissue. After reading reviews, I booked a deep tissue with Carmen and it was insane! She knew muscles no masseuse has ever worked on. She even gave me home work and recommended home remedies. She is incredible and the best masseuse in boulder in my opinion. She is so strong and could truly give me the pressure I needed. I also love the spa itself. Great location, quiet, nice robes and slippers, great tea, chocolate and almonds. Great mood. All of the staff from the guest advisors (appointment scheduling, reception and massage therapists) were all outstanding (professional and welcoming). Be sure to build in plenty of time to fill out a guest form prior to service and enjoy the retreat area with its complimentary: tea, mints, comfy spa robe, sandals, and neck warmers as part of your spa experience. (They recommend to arrive 15 minutes BEFORE your appointment time.) BFF # 1 Experience - The locker area is nice. The massage rooms are spacious. Ron, my therapist followed my lead when it came to conversation which I appreciated and he gives great deep pressure. If you are looking for a deep tissue massage, Ron is your guy!! Will definitely recommend Spavia to family and friends. BFF # 2 Experience - Convenient location (Twenty Ninth Street Mall) and hours (open 7 days a week). Their prices are awesome and they take walk-ins! ;) My masseuse was Nina. She was nice & chatty. She did a good job with my problem spots, and my visit was a relaxing treat. Wow. This company knows costumer service!! I had an unfortunate experience my last time. The manager personally called me and gave me a complimentary massage to make up for it. The next massage was unbelievable! Christy did a fabulous job of knowing the balance between releasing tension while still having a relaxing massage.
