She called me three times each call was confusing. The first call was to say there's other applicants ahead of me and that when they were approved they would receive the cat. So I asked if should still drive almost two hours one way to meet the cat if other people are eligible and ahead of me. The lady answer calls took a lot of offense to my question saying I should come meet it even if I won't get it. Also I forgot to fill out one part. I filled out the second part I didnt notice. Second call she told me my cat I have isn't at the vet I provided I explained my cat has always went there and it may be under a different last name. She at this point was just rude tell me it was such an inconvenience to be on hold with my vet for less then ten minutes and that she's already gone out of her way and is "jumping through hoops for me". By calling my vet and doing her job ??? Said I'd need call them and have them fax over the info for my car I already have she was yelling at me cutting me off nonstop. Said my cat wasn't vaccinated. So at this point I gave up she has been nothing but rude yelling at me not letting me speak over simple fixes like resending the application. She called me a third time not sure why said she had reached out to my vet again and still nothing. She then cut me off and said I had been cutting her off, yelling and being disrespectful. I actually began to cry because she was speaking to me in such a rude way. All I had done was try and be polite and work with her. I never yelled at her or was disrespectful. At this point I said I wasn't interesting in adopting anymore. I will from now on avoid the cat sanctuary. I've never been treated like that..

I adopted a cat from there recently. it was hard to just pick one, the cats are all so beautiful…read moreand good natured. The people there truly treat the cats as their own. They are obviously well loved and cared for. They also take the hard luck cases that other shelters won't. They work hard with the feral cats to get them socialized and ready to go to a good home. The new regulations the state has come up with are going to be financially challenging to any shelter, and especially so for the smaller ones. Any donations to them would help, they are not as well known as the bigger shelters and get overlooked at funding time. Volunteers are always needed, and it's a great way to interact with and socialize with the cats.

The shelter is run down because they dont have the funds for a face lift, but the cats are loved and well taken care of. Please come adopt from this shelter and if you can not, then donate food, toys, etc or make a cash donation. they desperately need all donations and adoptions, as well as volunteers to come in and give the kitties love and hugs. The shelter is crowded but run well and kitties are clean, and seem happy. they would be happier in a "forever home". thank you!

I adopted a cat from here that was previously a stray. She was only in the shelter for a couple of…read moredays before I adopted her. She's a year old and had fleas but SPCA treated her with flea medicine, gave her a distemper vaccine and checked her for feline leukemia and HIV. They named her Nebula though my husband and I had named her Oreo, without their knowledge, beforehand. They have a cat area where cats can play that allows the cats to go outdoors. It looks nice and the cats look relaxed. The cats can't go into there until after they've received all of their vaccines. After I adopted the cat, I took her to the vet in Syracuse to get her checked up. They called SPCA and only had record of her rabies vaccine that was done across the street at Pet Street Station. I know for a fact that they told me multiple times that she got a distemper vaccine, and got checked and was negative for HIV and leukemia but somehow they lost record of that over the span of less than 1 week. I think what may have happened was that they kept the record under the name Nebula rather than her new name Oreo though I was told that her record would be updated to reflect both names. I would have easily kept the name Nebula if it wasn't for my husband being attached to the name Oreo already. Other than that mishap, my experience here was good. I felt bag for all of the dogs that weren't adopted yet. They bark a ton when a new visitor comes in and the sound is pretty deafening and heartbreaking. They have some free pet bowls here and also sell a lot of pet accessories.

We brought our dog here for a neuter - the process was going normal until we went to pick him up…read morethe following day. Our dog was kept overnight at the facility for what was described as "observation" - we would have gladly taken him home same day like most facilities allow but they explained this was their protocol for safety, so we had no problem with it. When he was returned to us, we soon learned that he had not been provided with a cone or other preventative measure to stop him from licking or nibbling at his incision and genital area. As a result, he was able to significantly irritate the surgical site during his overnight stay. Following his return home, he developed notable complications, including bleeding, severe inflammation, and infection. Our veterinarian diagnosed him with hemoscrotum. While we are relieved that his stitches were not damaged, the situation caused him considerable discomfort, extended his healing time to over a month, and required an urgent visit to our local veterinarian. This resulted in over $400 in added veterinary expenses. Meanwhile, I tried to send in this formal complaint along with our vet's statement, and I was met with absolutely no accountable, no desire to talk on the phone (email only), and no human decency to amend the situation and prevent this to other families in the future.

He practically pulls me inside when we get there! They have different play groups based on size and temperaments and go out for 45 minute sessions... not too long not too short and the dogs rest in between. People saying that they don't let them out or mistreat them in any way sound pretty psycho to me. Dogs are ultimately the best judges of character there are, uncle buck rates 5 stars
